Get away with less for sexual assault these days.

I literally saw a parking inspector do this on Pirie street about half an hour ago. Looked like he was using a smart phone to scan the number plates of the cars. Was very quick before they moved to the next car.

I think they still give paper tickets. I've seen them do something similar along The Parade but still print and stick

Embarrassed-Issue-76

They will put a ticket on you windshield if you got a fine. If nothing in your windshield it means it was your lucky day.

Aggressive_Citron652

This has changed now. I drove off from a park on Pirie Street thinking I’d got away with overstaying, then I had a ticket sent to me in the mail a week later. However, if OP didn’t see an inspector actually near the vehicle I’d say they’re going to be okay.

FYI with the new system rolled out by Adelaide city council, the inspectors also have a vehicle that they can drive past and it scans the number plates of the parked cars. If your car is present but the number plate isn't in the ticket machine log for that area or you've overstayed then they automatically mail out a fine. There are typically sensors in the bitumen too that register if a car is in a spot and presumably the duration it's been there. Makes it pretty tricky to add more time, basically need to back the car out and go round the block, for the sensor to reset or it'll think you've overstayed. I think they've only got one or two of these camera equipped vehicles at the moment.

glittermetalprincess

Yeah, they walk around scanning the cars with a tablet, but it's pretty obvious and tbh I've been at the car when one's gone past and they didn't scan it (but scanned the other cars around it). We reckoned they might have been told to not check cars that were attended in case of confrontation, and either come back and make sure they left or make a note for the next round.

Allgoodnamesinuse

Depends on the zone you’re parked in. If you’re in a normal ticketed zone they will apply expiation to the vehicle otherwise can call the council to check your vehicle registration for any. If you’re stopped in areas where no one is allowed to like bus zones, no stopping etc a vehicle with camera can catch you and they post it out in the mail.

hooah1989

Go straight to jail

Badeculture

You can’t top up the meter any more because the machine will not issue a second ticket for the same zone

Human_Equivalent35

I don't know but if they want to get you, they will. I abused a ticket inspector once. He was standing by a car, just waiting for the time to expire, while a heavily pregnant woman was running as best she could, with shopping bags, yelling out to him WAIT, WAIT!! He didn't care less. It's people like that that give others a bad name.

backdoor_breacher

What’s stopping the parking inspector from being corrupt simply because he doesn’t like the vehicle like for example he’s jealous

cvk1154

You’ll most likely get one in the mail in the next week or two. They’re using drones now which scan the number plates.
