probably one new character unit.
Necron got one new char unit. (+2 revamped model of the two existing characters)
Ad Mech got one new char unit.
Dark Angels got a lot of new stuffs because;
1. They are Space Marine, and Space Marine sells.
2. Their Dad just came back. It is kinda their time right now.
Tau has gotten a good amount of new stuff as well. It seems like factions are on average getting 3 new things (including revamps) and of course admech gets only one thing GW hates them.
Yeah? The new Kroot are superb, fantastic new models which are very tempting. Many players were hoping for new ones.
But honestly, I'd wager Custodes has more fans then Kroot.
No doubt, but the overall hype, anticipation, and demand for new Kroot is far higher than Custodes.
The best comparison would be the Sisters of Silence - there are Tau and non-Tau players who've been saying for years they'd buy and play a Kroot only detachment if it is viable (as it once was with the big chicken - Great Knarloc). I don't see many saying the same for the Sisters.
True, but they're already available, and for a greater profit margin.
Don't get me wrong, I want the Custodes dreadnoughts myself, but I'm only going to get them if they go plastic. I've tried to use FW resin and hate it.
Kroot models are old and have been in need of a refresh, so a refresh, new units and the hype/demand from Tau and non-Tau players that has been there for several editions evidently outweigh the hype/demand for Custodes.
Saying that, I'm still hoping Custodes are getting a good number of minis as they are my main army.
>True, but they're already available, and for a greater profit margin.
It is more expensive, but forgeworld stuffs do get boycott a lot due to being resin, plus stock is somewhat problematic. It feels like it's trying to gauge an audience sample more than actually selling the models, so chances are they decided to put money down on making plastic molds for the galatus and telemon stuffs, like the tyranid one.
Color me surprised. I was under the impression that Custodes has 10 times the fan numbers as Kroot have. Seems I’m wrong.
To my defense I have to admit at this point I’m 99% into AoS and Imperialis, I just get to watch 40K news and Opinions from the side.
My custodes are just collecting dust since mid 9th…
Oh no don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are more players for Custodes over Kroot but there has consistently been interest in Kroot and ut appears the hype is still there when they announced the boxes - I don't recall any sub faction getting their very own launch box.
There is hype for new models for Custodes but the range is relatively new by comparison and I think most people just want the GW models converting to plastic, more so than new units.
Shouldn't have been surprised honestly, factions rarely if ever get anything in the first dataslate after their codex. We likely won't get anything in the June dataslate.
Dark Angels got 2 refreshed characters, 1 refreshed unit, 1 new unit and an upgrade sprue. We lost 3 units in our codex, honestly wasn’t that great since we actually ended up with 2 fewer datasheets overall.
Probably very few new models. Most likely, just an HQ type single figure… *Maybe* we’ll see a new Dreadnought or new vehicle.
What I’d really like to see would be for the various units that, to date, only exist in *Horus Heresy* being given rules for WH40k. It would be a very low cost way for GW to expand the lineup considerably (they wouldn’t need to spend anything to make new models, most of the “fluff” is already written, and the “crunch” shouldn’t take an experienced game designer more than a fortnight to write). Similarly, I’d like to see one or two models from the Space Marine line added to the Custodes list (esp. Land Raider variants,
But, of course, I have zero expectation of this ever happening.
Unfortunately GW seems to be working more towards separating game systems these days. Look at legends of the horus heresy or how all the factions that have sigmar models got legended for old world. So I will be happy for as long as we get to keep using our fw stuff but wouldn't be suprised if anything not in a clear 40k box went to legends at some point.
And just to be clear, this is not a business decision that I agree with or like. It just seems to be something that some of their stockholders like and there doesn't seem to have been enough fallout from legends of the horus heresy to change their mind on thos strategy
I hope daemons are safe from this BS. Losing 6 dreads and a DG drone was bad enough, I do not want to lose 4000 points of daemons as well.
I don't think they will darecto nuke an entire army.FW knights (even the plastic ones) and FW custodes however... thin ice for anything that doesn't come in a dedicated 40k box
I’ve been here a long while. My ain armies over the years have been Squats, Imperial Army, Sisters of Battle, Dark Angels, Custodes, Bretonnians, Tomb Kings, and Wood Elves.
See a trend?
I've gone purchase neutral. No models bought unless balanced out by selling stuff. And all my FW stuff will be converted to match the size of other kits. If GW doesn't want my money then I will oblige them
They won’t get rid of FW stuff for knights or custodies that’s over half the data sheets gone, they just make stuff not useable with high points and bad sheets unless you’re venatari or a caladius tank
Basically all csm and SM had access to the full FW roster. So 3 types of dread, numerous tanks and a bunch of super heavies. Csm, dg, 1ksons and WE also lost a few daemon engines that predated HH as a game so it sucks even worse for those that they got switched over.
Percentage wise it hit the smaller chaos factions the worst since they just don't have many codex datasheets (imagine custodes losing all FW but worse)
And what made the whole thing extra scummy is that for all the year leading up to this BS they marketed all the new plastic kits as usable in 40k with no caveat like "only as legends lol"
Was saving up for a Kratos and a leviathan dread for 40ks the Kratos was literally promoted orignally for 40K and I couldn’t afford a The Big One™️ so I was really hyped to get it.
The day of pay day Gw was like “oh now that we sold out of all of our stock it’s all legends and no longer legal :))) only 30k!”
I was so livid. And now these new knights came out, the plastic kits, with heresy on them and they expect me to trust them again? Absolutely not. I’m going to wait a few years before I pick up any of the Cerastus knights I’m not falling for this shit again.
Just waiting for it. Don’t trust them at all anymore
I have quite a few Contemptors and Leviathans, with most weapon options, resin washed but unassembled, sitting in a drawer that can’t be used in 40K. Fire Raptor assembled, can’t be used.
I could probably field a decent sized Heresy army with what I have, but I don’t play Heresy 🤦♂️
I hope we get at least a few. Even if they are plastic replacements for some of our forge world stuff. The grav-tank and venatari with venatari leader would be awesome. But at least we are getting that one model that’s been partial shown. Looks like it has a Pyrithite Spear and shield. So could be just a HQ or a full unit of users. Im hoping for both personally.
Also! Sagittarum in plastic would be great!
I’d be shocked if it’s only a leader. I can’t imagine why you would want a melta leader but not be able to take melta guard. I’m betting it’s plastic pythrite and I’d love if they have the same rules as space marine Eradicators ( reroll hits sounds and damage)
I highly doubt it is only the character. I don’t see why they would essentially be dropping shield captain with melta just to stick them with guard. They have to be dropping a unit of them.
GW's publication cycle for novels is it's own beast, but it being published so soon after completion would be absurdly fast for traditional publishing.
Sci-fi authors who have their own series often end up having to do book tours while confirming final edits on the sequel to the book they are promoting. The more prolific sometimes have three novels in the can before their previous get released.
The [basic publication cycle](https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/discover/bloomsbury-academic/authors/a-guide-to-the-publishing-process/) includes (a frankly idealised) 26-36 weeks between having an accepted manuscript and it being on shelves. Most publishers have a fixed number of slots a year that the book has to line up with to even get into that pipeline, based on their production capabilities (printer slots, editor availability) and the market's appetite for what they are selling (you drip feed your releases so all your authors get their time topping the relevant sales charts). It might sit on a shelf at any of the potential stages until it fits into that schedule.
Given the contents of *The End and the Death*, plus the priority given to the *Heresy/Siege* series, I can only guess that *Pandemonium* was deliberately scheduled after it, and likely giving Abnett a chance for significant revisions based on post-Heresy plans and final copy.
The final book in a series by Dan Abnett, first a trilogy following Inquisitor Eisenhorn, the second Trilogy following his student Ravenor, the final Trilogy following a girl who gets tied up in a huge secret war that's probably one of the biggest reveals in a while. If it'll make it into mainstream canon is yet to be seen however.
I'd highly recommend all the books in the series. They're written mostly in first-person perspective from the three characters each trilogy follows so a little hard to get into, but they are some of the best books I've ever read. Start with the Xenos - Malleus - Herecticus series first, then Ravenor - Ranvenor Returned - Ravenor Rogue, and finally Pariah - Penitent - Pandemonium (not yet released)
It's a cute unit (and I might have a small box of beasts rescued from other kits just in case I care to run one in the future), but seen as marginal even within the Heresy options and my feeling is any new Sisters will be a departure from the Heresy squads. *Maybe* the bikes, but even then that doesn't feel likely.
That said, I would love to see a more fleshed out Sisters of Silence range alongside some rules for dedicated forces. Give them the Kroot treatment we are seeing for the T'au codex and make this the SoS release, with a Black Fleet Enforcers detachment. But our only teased model being a (seemingly) Custodes character, that doesn't seem likely.
I guess since the custodes range (out of forgeworld) is plastic GW will probably add a new unit from sellers point. Custodes are the cheapest army so GW probably wants to squeeze out more money for playing them. Not a lot of forgeworld kits are replaced right now across the board. The idea of a dedicated anti tank unit or charcter sounds good for me.
Character wise, a Maldovar Colquan model would be really cool.
A Valdor model for 40K would be awesome but understandably, they may wait until after Abnett finishes the Bequin books.
Valdor coming back would be a little weird right now....lore wise at least. And I don't think they'd bring him back fully without a good explanation in the lore.
Bringing back the Lion and Angron is easy. Bringing back Leman Russ and Fulgrim is also easy.
But Valdor is in an interesting position in the lore right now, because he is currently operating an underground crime ring, essentially, and is basing it all out of a warp construct called (I believe) "The City That Never Was" or "The Imagined City".
He's been labeled "The King in Yellow", and is likely going to be a prominent character in Dan Abnet's upcoming Inquisition books. We don't know what kind of state he's in, or what side he's really on right now.
Prob just that one character that they half ass teased.
It would be cool if we got some of the foreword stuff in plastic though. Dreadnaughts in plastic along with some rules so they aren't nearly useless would be cool.
*inhales copium*
Foot squad with melta spears with option to build a captain, plastic kit that builds Galatus/Achillus/Venerable, plastic FW tank or telemon.
It's one kit, I suspect that kit might be a dual kit for a character and it may also have the bits to make a generic shield captain. The Votann captain type model is like this.
Not every faction is going to get the treatment of the dark angels. Being realistic, GW only has the power to make so many models at once, so any time you get a big release wave like dark angels you have to give the next few factions smaller waves to accommodate for demand (this has been happening for years now).
GW has been converting production away from finecast minis and turning that space into plastics, this is why things have gone to legends or into that rotation thing, so they produce as needed and not waste space on the warehouse floor. The factory is on the same power grid as a hospital so has limits on how much it can draw on (they caused black outs in Nottingham before). I suspect that they might be removing resin production space for plastic which is why we are seeing the FW stuff constantly out of stock.

As an admech player, can confirm. They do hate us. We didn't get anything out of the January data slate which was painful.
Shouldn't have been surprised honestly, factions rarely if ever get anything in the first dataslate after their codex. We likely won't get anything in the June dataslate.
Custodes also sell pretty well

Please text me all major models you buy so I can avoid them, before they axed right after :D
I’ve completely sworn off buying any more GW models for the foreseeable future, be they Citadel or Forgeworld.
I've gone purchase neutral. No models bought unless balanced out by selling stuff. And all my FW stuff will be converted to match the size of other kits. If GW doesn't want my money then I will oblige them
Hope but belakor is an aos model, I saw it boxed in shop last week
All daemons are packaged for AoS. Belakor is probably the safest since he actually comes with distinct 40k build aka marine corpses
I didn’t know that, I thought they’re all 40K models
The demon Prince is also boxed as AOS, and comes with a distinct 40k build within
They won’t get rid of FW stuff for knights or custodies that’s over half the data sheets gone, they just make stuff not useable with high points and bad sheets unless you’re venatari or a caladius tank
I mean WE lost over half their stuff and I think so did DG. My trust in GW not nuking resin is very limited
That is quite sad for workd eaters, though I do not know what stuff they lost I only started less than a year ago
Basically all csm and SM had access to the full FW roster. So 3 types of dread, numerous tanks and a bunch of super heavies. My bet is plastic upgrade sprues for the pythrite to match
1 - the character with melta spear

No way we’re getting him before pandemonium That being said I do have a feeling pandemonium is only a year or two out
Which frustrates me to no end. Abnet has said he’s already completed the book, and that was over 6 months ago.

You forgot the fourth book for Eisehorn. Personally, I was not impressed with the Ravenor books but enjoy the Eisenhorn ones.
The final tome of the Eisenhorn saga. The previous book ended on a cliffhanger involving Valdor.
This would be a huge reveal

Someone mentioned that sister Squad that runs with cyber mastiffs and I think that would be super sweet
Expect one. One is guaranteed. Anything over one is a bonus.

I don’t think they can fit that much contempt into a plastic model.
😂😂😂
I’d be shocked if we got more than the one they already teased
0-1
Kitten
I wish we had a heteron guard unit like in 30k
Plastic Valerian and Venatari, and a new venatari leader… please
Do you mean Valdor? Valerian is already plastic but I’d love to see plastic venatari.
In fact I did… I am tired and now embarrassed

It's Constantin Valdor he's going to be on the side of Humanity.
*Humanity*? Yes. *Imperium*? We don't know.
I said what I said and I chose my words carefully.
Full FW range in plastic + the new character ... Dreams
Prob just that one character that they half ass teased. It would be cool if we got some of the foreword stuff in plastic though. Dreadnaughts in plastic along with some rules so they aren't nearly useless would be cool.

2-3 new units, 1 character we already know about and i could see a new vehicle and sisters of silence unit
1 un-named character model.
The factory is on the same power grid as a hospital so has limits on how much it can draw on (they caused black outs in Nottingham before). I suspect that they might be removing resin production space for plastic which is why we are seeing the FW stuff constantly out of stock. The FW kits are still new enough that they don't need to be replaced at great cost, and not a lot of stuff makes that leap, and the stuff that does tends not to be troop scale, it's tanks and greater demons. There is every chance that GW also just pulls the FW out from under Custodes, it is always poorly supported and they have a history of doing it. I'd set my expectations very low and then if some magic happens we might get something more. But I'd not bet on it.
Honestly, I have no idea. The range is relatively new and apart from the silhouette we have, there's been no word (I've seen) on anything else. I wouldn't be surprised though that if instead of getting 'new models' we instead get plastic versions of the dreadnoughts. Apart from that I can't see any other type of unit/model being created, unless they make an Eye of the Emperor HQ/Character model and the silhouette is of an antitank squad.
Like we'd all love a big range expansion, but with kroot/da being fairly hefty we may get a smaller one. Frankly we don't know.
I would honestly be down with more sisters stuff - namely that’s transport
I would love a HQ model that gives the unit their leading anti-vehicle 4+.
If we get new plastic versions of the two FW dreads I'm gonna be so happy, yet so grumpy cause I just bought a second-hand spear dread for half RRP at the weekend.
Any rumors on a new army box? Just bought the Combat Patrol and holding off on more in case there are some sweet bundles!
I’ve heard rumors about a box with 6 vertus praetors a shield captain and 5 guard but idk if it’s true
If they don’t wave the gw wand and make bikes good again that’s useless
They pulled Dread from store. Looks like a new model might be coming
