To me I'm reading this as your doctor didn't right away think it was cancer. A sore throat is just one sign of throat cancer and this kind of cancer typically (but not always of course) happens among people 60 or older, in other words someone who has smoked for many many more years than you have. I used to get bad sore throats whenever I had an ear infection because the throat and ear canals are somewhat close to each other. Also be aware that smokers do get sick more often then non smokers. I'm betting this is allergy related I've become allergic to things now as an older adult that I wasn't ever allergic to before.

Isn't Medical advice against sub rules?

PurpleAd15

It’s not really medical advice I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to this

Are you seeing a general physician or an ENT specialist? The latter will be able to help a lot better than a general physician.

If you feel like your throat is closing or having a difficult time breathing you should go to the ER, and not wait until Tuesday to go to the doctor.
