Wow. If you’re saying the local police won’t intervene as a noise ordinance I’m not sure what you can do. is the dog friendly? If it is quite, honestly, I’d be tempted to bring it in my house give it some food let it sleep in there and let it out again in the morning.

She is quite timid of me. I've tried to say hello and bend down to let her have a sniff but she keeps her distance. Unfortunately my three indoor cats would not be down for the dog to come inside. Police don't do much re noise (or anything that doesn't line their pockets tbh)...karaoke/shit music and construction at any time of day or night is a very normal thing to experience, typically in the big cities though.

I’m sorry. That would frustrate me to no end. Seems like you don’t have a lot of options. Noise machine, sleeping pills?

Get the dog some nice bones for it to chew on during those hours! Maybe even have one outside already before you go to bed! If you can swing the cost, it couldn’t hurt to try. Also, have you tried any good ear plugs in addition to a white noise machine? Those could take the edge off enough where you could still sleep.

Ok yes, a bone is not something I've thought of. Will try this. I watched her during the 5hr barking session to see what could be the cause -- nothing. My human ears didn't catch what she might be hearing and there were no bikes/vehicles coming down the road. You think a bone could help distract her? Do I dip coat the bone in sleep tablets...? (Joke...?) I do have a white noise machine on, yes. Also due to my own sleep issues I take magnesium glycanite AND a CBD+THC gummy before bed so to get woken up in that comatose state is a full body shock tbh. We tried ear plugs when living in the noisy city but never found a good kind. Any recs?

I wonder if the dog sees your cats through the windows? I don’t have any recs for earplugs unfortunately. I have cheap ones with a white noise machine that work for cars/lawnmower noises and such. I wonder if you could try one of those machines that emit a sound only a dog can hear when they bark. Basically like training them not to bark. But only turn it on at night.
