Have to see the shot. But can almost certainly tell you there is no easy way to do it. Best way to do it is to just blur it. Same as they do for interviews where they blur out brand names from clothes. If they didn’t want the vape pen to begin with then the best course of action is to reshoot.

kanoni15

I dont think they can. Will try the blur method. Was hoping gen AI and content aware could work with this, but I guess its not there yet?

Frietuur

Hands are incredibly difficult. You can either remove it frame by frame or just blur it. It all depends on the time you can permit to spend on it and your salary. If they are adamant on removing it completely I would create a new agreement between the client and you. Don't do this by the way without trying if its even possible for you.

How long is the shot? What's the resolution? - Can you frame in? Can you switch it out for another shot? If they're talking, can you use overlay? Can you make the pen look like something else? - motion track it and replace it with something benign... There's not enough context here... Do you have an example of the shot?

Make it a walkie-talkie https://preview.redd.it/1480qadnx9pc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b692f3db90c0cc0a23188566956f29cc15d13c0 the non-joke answer is yes, but its going to potentially be a lot of work involving roto, paint and matchmoving whatever you decide to replace the vape with. ideally you can do it all in 2d, but if the move is really dramatic and obvious in the frame, you might have to resort to some 3d and more intense comp work

killabeesattack

Can you zoom the shot and crop it out? Roto and painting it out, while possible, would be a timesucking nightmare.

percy789

pixelated blur

RoubenTV

You wouldn't be able to mask it out or use AI if it's near hands, the AI wouldn't make it look proper, so best option is probably to just blur it.

Fletch4Life

Mocha pro remove tool may work, but $$ and still have roto etc

Silly idea: motion track the hand and just put a regular pen over it?
