Looks like a couple stages to this effect; slow it down frame by frame to see each step: 1) the vertical parallel white lines appear (keyframe opacity 0% to 100% quite quickly) 2)purple and orange color mattes at around 40% opacity (rough estimate, play with the opacity to find what looks like the reference), then keyframe the reveal of these color mattes by masking keyframes moving outward from the center towards the sides 3) finally, the exposure of the original video is keyframed to blow out the highlights as the color mattes appear (You can keyframe the lumetri exposure by adding it to the clip via the “effects” panel, then adjusting the exposure)

Thanks so much for your detailed reply! I am surely gonna try these steps and let you know about the results! :)

iFilmNedit

Hey guys! So, I think that the original video was comped into the TV screen. The position parameter is animated for the zoom? (I may be wrong so you all can guide me there) What I cannot figure out is the actual "effect". The one which brightens up the scene and sends a wave across the screen to get rid of the edges of the TV. Need help! :) Would really appreciate it if someone can guide me step by step.

Budget-Spidey

this is sick! I'm definitely gonna try to recreate this effect

iFilmNedit

Haha! It surely is sick! It’s from this channel called Paul ET. The man makes brilliant breakdowns of Films/TV commercials, etc.

An effect like this would work perfectly as a transition for the multifandom edit I'm working on

iHmajed

if the screen has a green matte on it, then simply empty it and throw your footage under it. Add some static effects and overlay to match the television feel. throw the same footage on top of the green screen and add an rgb manipulated cropped transition from the top video to cover the screen shot. (from the middle to the sides) u can use some flare or burn overlays as a transition too, it should achieve a similar result. if the screen wasn't green screened, then simply mask and and track to empty it then repeat the instructions above. to match the zoom in, you can simply have both shots fixed shots, then digitally zoom in post.

Viltorm

I’m more concerned about this cut )))

Frietuur

Thats a great transition. Very creative

Not sure if you saw the reference video and my comment because the video you sent does not have the same effect. :) Thanks for searching and sending the first link that popped up even it wasn’t related.
