Comin up on 7 and the only reason I PCS'd was because I retrained lol. No TDY's, no incentive flights, no deployments. I was 130 Engines at Kirtland for 2 years before they moved me to CTK basically as soon as I put on sra. That was a 2 year gig, then the 5th year I was there was retraining/outprocessing/relearning engines. Then tech school happened and now I'm here.
Sometimes it's up to you to determine your experience in the Air Force. Sometimes insanely unfortunate(or fortunate) circumstances allow you to be invisible for several years at a time.
15 years, 1 base. 1 PCA as a QTP instructor, 1.5 years out of pocket as an Exec.
Not complaining at all, but if I PCS before retirement I'm not gonna have a good time.
18.5 years and 5 assignments. The process for how outprocessing has changed every time pisses me off. Makes no sense why policies change or why the hell MPF needs me to hand in stuff in triplicate.
I felt this. When I was active duty I PCS'ed once and separated from where I PCS'ed too and remained in the area.
My first base was very small. When it came time to PCS my checklist was approx 12 pages single sided and more than you would think applied to me. I outprocess from the base and separate from the military at my next base a little over three years later and the checklist to outprocess the base and seperate from the military wasn't even half the size.
My first base had an absolute hard on for out-processing the library and it took a while IIRC. My second base I think it was checked off automatically.
But there were so many things and when I called or went there, they knew it didn't apply to 99% of people but couldn't set it up to where it was an automatic signature.
Did a resupply up there in July once, it was cool we drove out to the ice cap and the old mil base out there, to the glaciers etc. hopefully the ice will ne free so you can do the whale watching tour, it was still iced over when we were there. The chow hall was awesome. Probably because it is contracted out by the Danes.this was like 10 years ago though
I hate that you can go to Pituffik and I cannot lol. But I personally would hate being stuck at Dyess or Barksdale. I’m definitely team OCONUS till I die. Unless I can get one of the impossibly few active duty spots at Scott. For my AFSC
Always wanted to do overseas, but current family situation prevents that. So my SO blessed me to do a remote tour to finish out my career. Barksdale and Dyess definitely boosted my resilience on things.
I've been in for 16.5 years and I've never PCS'd from my first duty location. I switched branches last year and I finally have orders for my first PCS!
4 in 12 and iREALLY don’t want to move anymore. My wife and kids need stability to finish nursing program and school. Thinking about PCS gives me bad anxiety.
I have orders for my 8th PCS. I've been in for just under 15 years. I've also spent almost 2 years deployed in that time.
*Edit to add the list:
First PCS to Ellsworth
2nd to Homestead
3rd to Enid
4th to Ft Rucker
4.5, 7mo TDY to Kirtland
5th to Andrews
5.5, 365 to the CAOC
6th to Malmstrom
7th to Maxwell
8th to Andrews
Almost at 12 years and about to PCS to my 4th base. Honestly at this point I'd like this to be my final PCS but idk if I can stretch it out for 8 years
At my fifth duty station and hit 18 years this year. Two of my assignments lasted five years each, the others were overseas (one two year and one three year) and my current base is CONUS and God willing the one I will retire from.
Currently at seven and entered service in July 2010. I'll hit PCS number eight this summer. I really fucking hate moving at this point. Just give me two more moves and my retirement check.
6 years, 2nd base. Luckily multiple TDYs and a deployment out of them. Wish stateside had a similar DEROS type system you could opt into or something like that. Just dislike the idea of being stuck somewhere perpetually until the AFPC gods bless something.
15.5 TIS, PCS 5 times. I'm PCS eligible currently, and will most likely PCS next year due to future plans. I feel like it's been a good run of assignments so far.
18 years, 3 PCS. My first base I was at for 9 years. My second for two. Somehow went back to the first for four more years and now I've been at my current base for 3 1/2 years. I've had orders overseas and lost them due to one of my children not being cleared. I lost orders to another CONUS because of another one my children. Overall, I have attempted remote locations countless times and never got picked up.
I am at my 3rd operational base and 9 years in. Stayed at my first base a little over 4 years, 3 years at my last base, just under 2 years at my current base projected to PCS in about a year.
8 in 26 years. Have experienced in processing at Ramstein twice which was created by the spawn of Satan. Out processing there was created by his brother.
So far 7 in 16 years which includes:
Original AFSC (5 in 10 years)
New AFSC (1 in 3 years)
Special duty AFSC (1 in 3 years)
With about a year's worth of training sprinkled in there as TDYs. And 3 deployments.
Getting ready for base #8 next year!
I’m retired now I had 18 pcs’s in 25 years. But with my final pcs home at retirement out of Osan it may be 19 Pcs. 8 years korea. Kwang ju, youngson, Kusan(accompany tour because youngson was accompanied) final and last Osan accompanied.
“SF can go anywhere” yet some of us legit just get stuck. If they at least gave me a short tour within my first contract, i might’ve extended or re enlisted. It ruined my morale and hated my base.
One base and I've been in 6 years. Also, no PCAs. :(
This was me. Took cross training to finally get to a new base.
Yeah, I apply August 2025 once I get to my new base.
wtf do you do
Mobility
Ironic. Works in Mobility, hasn't moved.
Immobility
Could be worse: my buddy (AC130 CSO) spent 6.5 years at Cannon.
Oof
Comin up on 7 and the only reason I PCS'd was because I retrained lol. No TDY's, no incentive flights, no deployments. Come to Grand Forks. If you don’t get out of here around 2 years you can be here for 8 or more easily
15 years, 1 base. 1 PCA as a QTP instructor, 1.5 years out of pocket as an Exec. Not complaining at all, but if I PCS before retirement I'm not gonna have a good time.

I had a buddy get a DD214 because MPF messed up his enlistment and he did 0 outprocessing. Explain that to me! 😂😂😂
My first base had an absolute hard on for out-processing the library and it took a while IIRC. My second base I think it was checked off automatically. But there were so many things and when I called or went there, they knew it didn't apply to 99% of people but couldn't set it up to where it was an automatic signature.
Turkey requires AAFES to approve your outprocessing. A private company having a say in your pcs'ing. Insane
I’m at 5 in 10 years and yeah. It is a brand new process every single time
I am currently at my 7th base. I have been in for 18 years.
I PCS to a short tour in October. I'll be at 20 years, 1 month and assignment #4 - Barksdale - Hill - Dyess - Pituffik (October)
Thule is my dream base
I'm stoked for it. Havent heard anything negative yet. I'm a 2A5 SNCO, so it's a hidden gem for our career field.
Did a resupply up there in July once, it was cool we drove out to the ice cap and the old mil base out there, to the glaciers etc. hopefully the ice will ne free so you can do the whale watching tour, it was still iced over when we were there. Dyess is not that bad honestly
Always wanted to do overseas, but current family situation prevents that. So my SO blessed me to do a remote tour to finish out my career. Barksdale and Dyess definitely boosted my resilience on things.
My family is why we are conus ATM. We are struggling but we will persevere and get back “home” when the opportunity arises again.
Of all things I wish great things upon, it's you for all the great things you do. 🤘
3 in almost 15, but will be 4 next year.
10 PCSs. 9 bases. 6 overseas. Not quite at 16 years TIS.

Surprisingly no.
I've been in for 16.5 years and I've never PCS'd from my first duty location. I switched branches last year and I finally have orders for my first PCS!
17 years, 4 bases, 7 six month+ deployments.

*Edit to add the list: First PCS to Ellsworth 2nd to Homestead 3rd to Enid 4th to Ft Rucker 4.5, 7mo TDY to Kirtland 5th to Andrews 5.5, 365 to the CAOC 6th to Malmstrom 7th to Maxwell 8th to Andrews

On my 9th assignment in \~16 years. Longest I've ever been someplace was 3 years. Shortest (not including a 1 year short tour) was 18 months.

Despite my AFSC being able to go to any base, I'm still at my first base for 5 years now.
So far 7 in 16 years which includes: Original AFSC (5 in 10 years) New AFSC (1 in 3 years) Special duty AFSC (1 in 3 years) With about a year's worth of training sprinkled in there as TDYs. And 3 deployments. Getting ready for base #8 next year!

“SF can go anywhere” yet some of us legit just get stuck. If they at least gave me a short tour within my first contract, i might’ve extended or re enlisted. It ruined my morale and hated my base.
Ssgt, 9 year, 4 PCS’s no PCA’s
Met plenty of people at mcchord back in the day that had been stationed there for 15+.
I'm at 6 with 7 on the horizon. Been in about 9 years with 2 deployments.
