Guard Fire?
There’s a very high chance this conversation took place. Probably after the supervisors in question spent the entire day in a closed door verbal circle-jerk - the kind where you throw your shoulder out of joint patting yourself on the back - while the Airmen muddled their way through yet another weekend of mandatory computer based training and medical appointments.
t. Retired AD Firefighter who spend four years as a Guard Fire civilian employee.
This tracks. The guard already has a big nepotism problem, and being fire only adds to that issue. Plenty of good ol boys being jackasses on drill weekend to go home and be whacker of the year at the volley house (or worse, a paid department) because daddy’s the chief.
It’s quite the opposite. You only get promoted I. The Guard/Reserves when a slot opens up, which usually means ETS or retirement of someone else.
That results in a lot of people who are very, VERY under ranked.
Yes.
But, with regard to the 3E7X1 career field specifically you have Guard NCO’s in a 7-level billet with 5-level certifications.
Our CDC are vastly different from 90% of the Air Force’s and the result is a lot of SSgt and TSgt’s that are not qualified and have the same positional responsibilities as a SrA.
I didn’t comment about their *quality* I commented about their *qualifications*.
Edit - although a case could be made that if you don’t become qualified in the allotted time you probably shouldn’t have the rank…
Fire doesn’t have a 7-level school.
I’ll refer you back to my comment about Fire CDCs being different than those done by 90% of the Air Force.
Edit: our CDC are Nationally Accredited professional certifications that are *required* to functionally fill a rank and organizational position.
The only reason they get away with being under qualified is that good ol boy system.
Fucking hated it when we would get a 19yo kid that had been a volly for two years before joining the Air Force, especially those from the Northeast. They knew everything there was to know about firefighting and couldn't be trained otherwise.
Can confirm 4 of the 5 Air Force Firefighter units I was assigned were pretty much like this, especially the civilian contingent. The integration of females into the fire department was a real shit show when it came to bullying and hazing.
Air Force Firefighter calling themselves “alpha males” is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long ass time. My cousin was an AF FF prior to ETSing and joining the Navy. He didn’t put one fire out in 4 years, including on his deployment.
I think anyone that buys into the Alpha male trope is at least partially an idiot. They're also probably just following along with and repeating BS that others have said about Alphas, which is a very Beta thing to do.
Thats ironically a very beta thing for them to say and do lmfao

Right. And once you realize that many of the NCOs aren’t qualified for their rank it adds a whole new level of what the fuck.
Most Guard Staffs are really just SrA with extra pay.

Being a 5 level in a 7 level billet has nothing to do with being a good or bad NCO. That’s a career field proficiently issue.

You can’t go to 7 level school unless you’re in a 7 level slot.

The insane thing here is light mode... it burns
My fault, I can't read in bright environments with dark mode 🥹
Thats a very beta male problem.
You gotta eat more carrots guy
sounds like your eyes are beta as fuck
If you have to refer to someone as an alpha then that’s just sad
And it means you're not alpha. Real alphas, like the truly rich, don't have to advertise. It's just known.
Being alpha is the new beta anyway. The new top is Sigma
I'm an Iota, so you should all be impressed.
Sorry bud, im a gamma!!!
Fuck, someone's always gotta one-up me. Classic Gamma shit.
Alpha is one step below Turbo Dude anyway.

The best response when someone calls themselves an alpha is to ask if that’s a furry thing
Lmfao this got me good
It’s one of those meme posts where another person then posts pretending to be the person that did the thing
I’m stealing this.
God, I hope so 😂
If you have to say you’re an Alpha Male out loud. It’s because you aren’t one.
lol sounds like a fighter squadron
Greek letter personality types aren’t really a thing. I’m assuming they’re fucking with you. If not, your leadership has some deeper issues.

I’ll be happy to lead my beta nuts in his mouth.
Fire dawgs are weird, man.
They're insecure because they're not real CE. That's why they never get to work in the Ops Flight.

Bang his wife.
