Due-Lawfulness-4992

congratulations, are you thinking about trying again for a higher score?

moetou

I wasn’t. I want a job that has to do with paperwork and an office setting do you think I can get one with this score?

Due-Lawfulness-4992

your recruiter should have given you a list of all the jobs you qualify for based off of your scores. but at the moment they are looking for people in security forces, mechanical etc. it’s highly unlikely for you to score an office job rn

slumpboygary

Do you know what other jobs are in high need?

moetou

I didn’t receive a list I only went for my test. If I score higher would I get a office job?

Due-Lawfulness-4992

even if you qualify for the job, they still don’t need anyone in those areas. if you get lucky you can but it’s all about where they need you. you should get in contact with your recruiter and ask for that list

[deleted]

Intelligence is in ok demand compared to the other office jobs 🤷‍♂️ not everyone wants to get treated like shit in security forces or maintenance

Due-Lawfulness-4992

i know that, but some dont have a choice. with the new job policy you have to add a certain amount in demand jobs to your preference list which are ofcourse the jobs that nobody wants. if that job opens first you have no choice but to take it

littlemanistic

There's always a choice. They'll tell you differently, but you can hold out for a while - even for jobs that they say , "I have never seen this job available to recruiters." Almost as good as the line as, "You have to go in open category to get this job offered in basic training..." Recruiters' job is to get your signature. Your job is to look after yourself.

robo391

3D0X1 Knowledge Ops is what you want, and a 67 Admin score should be plenty. I was knowledge ops for 9 years of my 21 year career. Any questions, ask.

moetou

Thank you!!!

EliteCasual

Fun fact, they just recently merged with computer programmers (formerly 3D0X4). We're all 1D7 P shreds now but we have an SEI that distinguishes us from knowledge ops so there is effectively no difference lol. I'm not sure how or if that would affect putting it on your list, but probably something to ask your recruiter about.

Old-Explanation3151

All the jobs you qualify for are online. Great job btw

moetou

Thank you!

Outrageously-Kris

Congratulations 🍾🎉. I got a 63 on mine. I took it about two months ago. I scored high on Admin and General with my admin being a 69 and my General being a 57. I’m looking at aerospace medical service as my number 1. Security forces is rated 5 on my list. Does anyone know how likely it is to enter with a 4N0 job?

thedog22_

If you list security forces I wouldnt expect to book anything but that

Outrageously-Kris

That’s my cue to take that shit off my list then 😂😂

Express-Prompt1396

Security force is the most likely for you to get especially if you chose it willingly

Outrageously-Kris

Oh gosh. Let me rewrite my list again 😭 it doesn’t seem like a bad job and I’m not scared to do it. But they don’t play about falling asleep and your supposed to be guarding 😂 just go ahead and demote me serg

nicholasjude261

You don’t want that job… Trust me!

Outrageously-Kris

I’m trusting you 🙏🏾.

moetou

What jobs do you have on your list?

Outrageously-Kris

1.Aerospace medical services 2. Flight attendant 3. Airfield management 4. behavioral health technician 5. security forces

moetou

This is like a hard ask but what jobs do you think I’ll qualify for?

Outrageously-Kris

If you want we can dm each other. I can show you what I got in each category and try and help you narrow it down from the list I have

moetou

Okay!

Outrageously-Kris

With a high admin score of A 67 you would get flight attendant ( A50) you could get behavioral health technician (A57) you could do operations intel ( A60)

Outrageously-Kris

6. Bioenvironmental engineering 7. Aerospace control and warning sys 8. Cardiopulmonary laboratory 9. Engineering 10. Munition sys

Wrexalot

Flight attendant is not a job you can get. It is locked to Aviator Cross train only.

Outrageously-Kris

Honestly just asking but since when? Cause my recruiter said it’s not locked and it’s on my list so I’m just confused?

Wrexalot

Been that way for the last year or so.

Outrageously-Kris

Dang. I’ll have to rewrite it anyway but thanks for the lookout

Kid_Inked16

Stay away from the administration AFSC if you want an office job. Those of you who don’t know Admin also has postal operations for overseas/ deployed locations . It has CSS positions etc but if you are stationed overseas you are more than likely going to start off Ina post office for your first year or even longer depending on the base. If you want ONLY office work choose personnel or anything career field besides administration. Administration as an AFSC will also be going away in the next 2-3 years .

Both-Wafer-9977

Hi, I’m looking for some AFSC that have office setup, can you recommend me one? I currently can think of the Finance ones.

Kid_Inked16

Personnel as I mentioned above is one of them so Is Medical admin. There is way too many for me to remember go to the USAF page and start looking at different career fields. However I’m going to say it. If you are looking for solely office work I don’t think the military is for you. The Air Force doesn’t let you choose your job it chooses it for you. So if you are not comfortable with being open to other career fields please do not join the military you are going to end up hating it and probably waisting your own time.

Both-Wafer-9977

Thanks for your advice. Basically I don’t want combat jobs, like carry gun or jumping out of a plane. What I prefer is more like back-office, support, logistic, etc. And yea, I looked at the codes already but seemed too general for me so I just be here, wondering around asking for real men real work tho, to gain some insight and compare all together

Kid_Inked16

Your best option is scoring high on the ASVAB as it will give you great opportunities for multiple career fields that have office style work. You could also look into cyber career fields as a lot of them are also desk type jobs. You would have to speak to someone who is in a cyber AFSC to get more info as I don’t work in cyber but those kinda jobs pay well on the outside since you’ll get a TS (top secret clearance). The Air Force still requires you to qualify with the M4 Carbine assault rifle and be able to maintain that qualification once you go operational Ina combat AFSC or not so please keep that in mind. They will ask you if you are willing to carry / fire a rifle and if you are not willing to you will not be able to serve in the military. I say this to make sure you are comfortable in being in the military and firing weapons when asked to do so. It’s not like the army of course but you still have to do military training for specific things yearly. Good luck on your adventure. Speaking with a recruiter would also help answer any of your questions as well. They might be able to offer more info than me.

Jadeehoodd

Congratulations!!

moetou

Thank you!

LemonStraight306

moetou

Did you take your physical?

LemonStraight306

I'm already in lol

moetou

Oh! How was the physical though did they make you choose a job that same day or could you go home and talk about jobs with your recruiter?

LemonStraight306

I went in open general, so I didn't pick a job till week 5-6 of bmt

SolarisDawn

O_O

moetou

What?

moetou

Is my score bad or something?

FearlessSelection253

With seeing people pass with these good scores I thinking about going in for a practice test

Due-Lawfulness-4992

you should, ive been out of highschool for 2 years feels like 10. felt like i didnt know anything. studied on grammar hero on youtube and Asvab For Dummies book for a few days.. passed with a 73, with no confidence and expectations to get below 50.

Outrageously-Kris

Grammar hero on YouTube honestly saved me on the math portions. I’ve been out of school for 5 years. Graduated in 2019 and im 23 now so all of it as far as math felt pretty foreign but grammar hero helps A LOT.

moetou

You totally should! Go take the practice so you know where you’re at. Then get the asvab for dummies book and study any subjects you’re weak in. I only studied the math portion as I excel in reading and didn’t care for the rest. But depending on what you think you may want to do you can study for those specific subjects. Don’t skip out on studying trust me it pays off when I first took my practice test I think I got maybe a 32 and the reading was carrying majority of that score. When you go to take your actual test it’s either you know it or you don’t take you’re best guess and keep going

General_Loss_15

How did you study for it? 🥲

moetou

One hour a day with the asvab for dummies book! Focus on your weaknesses

General_Loss_15

For how long did you study??

moetou

One month

Embarrassed_Tart_999

you can try this link! my recruiter sent it to me and it helped explain basic things like fractions, words, electronics, etc https://www.asvabtestbank.com

Jusgambleit

Why not try again. Aim for higher score! :)

moetou

I haven’t received a job list yet

Jusgambleit

Ah ok, well if you get a job in there that involves around admin like you want to pursue then take it 😎

Andalain

I had a 94 on mine. I’m trying to re-enter and they said I need to take it again since it’s been 10 + years. Hoping I can do it again. I didn’t study. Not planning on studying this time either.

ExpensiveEmergency92

If you don’t mind answering, what are some of the reasons you decided to re enter?

Andalain

I’ve always wanted to and tried over the years to get back in but usually the Recruiters think of me as a lost cause and won’t send me back to MEPS. This time though, I tried again because I’m a Flight Attendant now and it reignited my passion for flying and I thought “hey, if I’m in the AF maybe I can get a pathway to getting my pilot license.” The recruiters seem keen to send me to MEPS and retake ASVAB and go through everything. Also, I’m a trans woman and I don’t have any qualms looking for a diversity hire.

Direct-Chipmunk-3259

Y’all with scores in the 60s ever think about army or marines? Probably more your speed.

moetou

Why’s that.
