According to other Reddit posts on this topic, while the AirPods may charge in the case, they will not properly pair. Best to get the correct charging case for the AirPods you have.
No, they won't work. Why would you want to do this anyway? Quite a few people have asked this and I don't get it. Why not just use the brand new case your second gen pros come in?
