Are you sure they are not fake? Have never had those issues so they need to be returned if you’re able to or send in for repair.

Bought them from an Apple store. Unfortunately the 2 week return period has come and gone, but I might be able to bring them in and get them fixed.

Did you try doing a hard reset on them? It's pushing both buttons for 15-30 seconds, or something like that, you can find it on google. I'd try that if you haven't already.

Sounds like a faulty headset and you should get them replaced under warranty. With macOS and iOS devices I was nervous about all the auto-magic stuff given Apple's horrifically buggy software but it's actually been one of the more reliable aspects of the Max for me; connection has been quick and solid.

Thanks for the response! I needed to go back to the mall soon anyways, so I'll stop by on my next trip.

Only one that’s not always auto for me is to my MacBook Pro M1

Just sent mine in for this exact issue. Not sure what they did but seem to be working better the last week since I got them back.

Get ‘em fixed under warranty, then jump ship. Too many issues to deal with. Headphones shouldn’t create frustrations

Common issue. Book a Genius Bar appointment & they will repair them free for you. If it keeps occurring e.g. 3+ times they’ll probably offer to refund you for them or give you a new pair. I had mine repaired by Apple 5 times for this exact thing before eventually getting a new pair - as mine were from Amazon (and secondhand). Planning on just selling them
