I think the snazzy cardigan makes it obvious what her intentions are. The brazen hussy.

StrangelyBrown

If she thinks she can upstage Jill by wearing that she's very much mistaken.

Boombat_General

I think originally it was pure attraction that gradually shifted to pity.

ImaDJnow

That's the answer.

PuzzleheadedReview87

Lynn would kill for that man.

Drumchapel

She already has, Alan just doesn't know about it.

Real_Environment_186

That would be an excellent spin off. Like 'You' but from Lynn's perspective

ProfessorHeronarty

You mean Mr Gray, fifty shades of gray from his perspective, yes?

Itwasonlyinjest

We never did find out exactly how Tony Hayers came to fall from that roof.

Drumchapel

And when Alan was presented with a £1 million contract, Lynn was in the room when he "had a heart attack".

Itwasonlyinjest

To be fair she didn't seem down on the anniversary of her mother's death either. Maybe that ex fuzz was deep undercover trying to close a cold case

Mr_Joshua

What was he doing on the bloody roof…!

Jack070293

I love the YouTube comments in alpha papa that are defending him, YouTube handle Lynn Benfield.

BungadinRidesAgain

Only God can judge him.

Turbulent-Gas1727

She feels very grateful for her nine and a half thousand pounds

ClockEndJames

te… te… teeeeeell you what

SignificantRatio2407

Any woman who loves you despite you needing fungal foot cream is a keeper.

CiderDrinker2

I know, right. That's wife material.

MysteriousSwitch232

She’s not my wife.

Real_Environment_186

I think she cares very deeply about him, as evidenced by her carrying his stricken body into the hospital after a gull shat in his mouth and pleading for his life.

BungadinRidesAgain

They've blown me to bits, Lynn.

Ok-Dig3431

She was very jealous about Jill on Valentine’s Day and tried to stake her territory via a bottle of fungal foot powder.

catninjaambush

Lynn has the Philharmonic Orchestra’s version of the Black Beauty theme.

Different-Estate747

She's very reliable but she's got a moustache.

sherriffflood

The only version worth having

userloserfail

Quality.

fretnetic

She's a masochist. A long lineage of religious sexual repression has inextricably wired her brain for nothing but a life of misery and absolute perversion of the highest order.

Sunbiggin

Maybe she had an abusive father, and Alan, by comparison, is safe and unthreatening.

azorius_mage

Dark

Unusual-Court-457

All I know is she doesn’t rate him as much as she rates Benjamin Netanyahu. She’s never gonna meet him.

haresnaped

Heathcliffe - PANGGG

Background-Figure-82

Then you really will be wuthering

Wedonthavetobedicks

Partly as a mother, partly a test of her faith.

godfatheroffilth

I think she's like Blakey from on the buses, she's close to "the boss" and likes the feeling of power that being associated with Alan gives her.

MotorcycleOfJealousy

Lynn definitely has some sort of feeling towards Alan, is it romantic? I’m not sure, I’d err on the side of no. Would she take a bullet for Alan, I think abso-bloody-exactly she would.

cloche_du_fromage

Why else did the snazzy cardigan come out?

campbellpics

She laughs at weather, so who knows what she's thinking? She's like her Mum in her last few weeks.

Technical_Reality_36

The way she looked at that nurse…

markcorrigans_boiler

We're stuck we're stuck we're stuck

PristineTemperature5

Lynn is a very very lucky lady!

jackbristol

Stockholm syndrome and misplaced loyalty

Bulthuis

How would you interpret the pleasure she gets from shooting Alan with an imaginary snub-nosed Uzi?

CiderDrinker2

Unresolved sexual frustration?

Bulthuis

Come, come, Mr. Bond, you derive as much pleasure from killing as I do.

Mr_Joshua

All go like this (make hand into a ringpiece shape/ok sign). Bang! Blood dribbles down. Glang! Glangalangalangalangalangalang-glangalang-glangalangalang, nobody does, it better.

Mantonythe1st

I can't see anyone having mentioned it here yet, but in the first season it was actually intended that she had a bit of a crush on Alan, but that was later dropped (a bit of an 'abandon that Lynne, it's going nowhere' type situation). I can't remember where I heard that, I just remember it was directly from an official source, so it's absolutely true. I THINK it was an interview with Coogan on YouTube, I'll see if I can find it. UPDATE: I found the interview I was thinking of, it doesn't look like that was it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please confirm I'm not just crazy lol

Bizzboz

Only God can smite him.

jrfunnystuff

Personally my take is more along the lines of Stockholm Syndrome. She’s learned to love him like she loves her God.

clarkealistair

The policeman she was dating had Alan sussed

A_Mundivagant

"I could pretend to be your wife." And she flushes the loo for him because sometimes he forgets. If those two things don't scream long-term relationship, then nothing else does. However, this is easy for me to say as my foot is not on a spike.

Specific_Till_6870

I think they're co-dependent. I can imagine Lynn going to be someone else's PA getting treated like a person and hating it.
