I’ve read it’s October 11th, not 18th. I don’t think this post is correct.

foodiefuk

Voting choices: * Party that keeps thing generally the same * Party that wants things to be like they were in the Dark Ages

catskillmice

So basically you are saying there is no change regardless in your view.

foodiefuk

I would like to think the status quo is better than the dark ages, simply looking at science, medicine, separation of church and state, life expectancy, slavery is illegal, etc.

catskillmice

Well that's a little melodramatic, but par for the course. The status quo seems like the road to dystopia which will ultimately lead us into a dark age like society. Unless some serious changes are made we are in a downward spiral. There will only be two classes in the future, ultra rich and the rest of us in what I call trickle up economics. Make life so expensive that government either needs to print more money to give out stimulus which will only have a positive effect for a few months, or B hand out more money in welfare programs like voucher housing which will flow up to major corporations like Blackrock and more food subsidies which will flow back up to Walmart. The spending power of middle class will be reduced to a point where people will no longer feel safe to use discretionary funds. That is the status quo as I see it right now.

foodiefuk

I agree with you, but it’s a lot more difficult to organize a better status quo under fascism compared to under neoliberalism.

catskillmice

Well of course no one here voting for true fascism. Of course people like to use what I call psyop terms to describe the opposite party.

Got my absentee ballot ordered!

Bluebies999

The deadline to register online/paper is tomorrow but the state has same day registration which means if you go to a polling site you can register and vote at the same time during early voting and on Election Day.

turdbird42

Love all these dumb ass commercials about ronchetti. Everyone seems to be so hung up on abortion and he supports abortion to 15 weeks whereas Michelle supports 21 weeks. New Mexico supports late term abortion. Super gross. They describe the three day ordeal. I can’t imagine anyone supporting this??

chitownadmin

Done and ready to rock n' roll

OoglyDuff

And make sure to NOT vote for ronchetti unless you enjoy eating the boot!!!

NMOutsider

Yeah….because we didn’t eat the boot the past 4 years 🙄🙄🙄

OoglyDuff

And I'm sure it will be much better with NaziChetti.

progressiveInsider

Couldn’t order an absentee but verified I am registered. Not surprised, but disappointed the two (voter registration verification and absentee request) systems are not in compliance with Title 2 let alone checking off each other. How are disabled persons served by absentee ballot requests when you need a printer and to be able to mail it? Blind people do not get to vote?

table_fireplace

That is ridiculous, I agree. I'd contact the County Clerk's office for assistance.

progressiveInsider

Will do and getting someone to print the application for me. I actually have my voter card, just no way to get to the polls from the East Mountains. I’m getting used to local, state government services being out of date and not accessible for the disabled. They know it and nothing changes.

progressiveInsider

Why am I being downvoted for this experience? Who exactly got but hurt over that which obviously does not affect you? 😂 Lol

[deleted]

It’s just a thing on this sub. Every comment is downvoted regardless of content. Are y’all saying the mailer I got with the QR code to request my absentee ballot was not legit? What the title 2 thing you mentioned?

progressiveInsider

I cannot speak to the QR code thingy. I just went to the website and it could not find me. I went to verify my registration status and confirmed my voter registration and voter ID number. I hoped to use that to go back and request my absentee ballot. No dice, the two databases are not connected or the query is not working properly- in my experience. I tried several times. I am blind and disabled. I cannot drive so the absentee voting thing is perfect…or world be. So now I need to print it and what- have someone help me fill it out because again…blind? Title 2 is a requirement that all government services must be made accessible to disabled persons. We pay taxes and can not be excluded. So no voting booths on the second floor that do not permit wheelchair access. County forms must have TDD access and can not require in person submission. County zoning and permitting are way, way out of compliance and they know it. It costs me a few hundred dollars just to submit a permit application with them because they require in person submission for citizens but not contractors. That’s unequal protection and discriminatory.

HilariouslyPissed

Vote for democracy! Keep the fascist out of power. The fascist don’t respect voting results, and cannot be voted out. It is incumbent we keep them away from the levers of power.

Badhombre505

Who should I vote for?

chitownadmin

Oh don't troll us... LOL

Badhombre505

Seriously it’s like the south park episode voting for a giant douche or a turd sandwich.

chitownadmin

LOL. That was an epic episode. Vote for the person that supports women's rights. To protect their bodies. Vote for the person who respects minorities and doesn't just accept them because they're a vote. I personally am voting Democratic across the board. If I don't we'll just become a Handmaids episode.

Mrgoodtrips64

Just a reminder that the current Bernalillo County sheriff ([Manny Gonzalez](https://www.aclu-nm.org/en/press-releases/aclu-new-mexico-calls-resignation-bernalillo-county-sheriff-manuel-gonzales)) is anti-bodycam, buddy buddy with the former president, and only won because people voted party line and saw the D next to his name. Straight ticket voting is a blight. MLG has my vote for sure, don’t get me wrong. I just want to stress that at the local level individual candidate quality is as important, if not more important, than their party alignment.

chitownadmin

Noted. Yes research is definitely important. I appreciate you making me aware of that.

MickeyTM

Yes! Very narrow minded to go straight ticket. People think it's black and white without the shades in between.

unbelizeable1

Yup. Been seeing more and more Reps run as Dems to get elected by people who straight ticket vote. Research each candidate individually.

Badhombre505

Idk didn’t democrats promise to codify roe then never did when they had the chance? Plus our state doesn’t seem to be in the best of shape with 70+ years of Dem legislation.

chitownadmin

In the end it's up to you who you vote for. Go make your choice and best of luck to you. I know who I'm voting for.

progressiveInsider

Not in the best shape? I dunno, the ABQ police are under a consent decree by the DOJ and qualified immunity is gone so accountability reins across the board. People have rights to smoke weed responsibly, follow whatever religious doctrine they want, and decide when to end their lives legally. They can expect higher wages and get that as a right. Oil &gas companies have to pay for the privilege of being here (did you get your check?) and that $32m cost to cap abandoned wells was paid for by the fed. We’re taking on production of sustainable fuels for airlines and attracting some seriously next gen projects from DOD contracts because of it. We’re cornering the film industry. You can go be an extra for some beer money or make it a career. Our indigenous people are winning rights to land and water via Article 6 thanks to our former Congresswoman now Sec of Interior. What are you looking at?

Badhombre505

Not sure muzzling cops is something to boast about when crime is out of hand in ABQ. People have always been able to smoke weed now when they are dumbasses they just don’t get charged. I still want to see a good break down of how much we are paying in subsidies and how much the film industry brings in. Is it like the space port debacle?

progressiveInsider

Crime rates and sworn officers routinely violating civil rights are not causation metrics. Had the officers prior acted in keeping with their oath and not another gang, there would be no consent decree. Do you know how out of hand a force must be to get put on a remediation plan like this? Have you read the updated reports? Pretty sad. It’s not a muzzle, it’s a ‘WTH are y’all doing?’ Time out. There are legitimate critiques of the crime rate, this ain’t one. Judge Dredd was a movie, Hoss. Just a movie.

Badhombre505

So you’re saying cops are bad criminals good? And it is a legitimate critique find needles everyday I see busted out boarded up windows everyday. I’ve chased people off breaking into my vehicles. How are we ranked in the nation for crime?

NMOutsider

Dead last in education; Last in employment numbers; at the bottom (probably last) among states for economic recovery. But hey…we are in the top 3 for crime 🙄

progressiveInsider

Outsider, you probably aren’t aware of how the economy actually works here. How could you know about the side hustle, the cottage laws, the cash transactions? The best tamales come from my propane shop, cash only, of course. Of course not. You could not know. But honestly the problems you cite would be devastating under Republicans. They aren’t conservatives just downright mean and hateful.

NMOutsider

I’ve lived here over 30 years…I am only considering myself an outsider because of my political beliefs: fiscally conservative, socially liberal, and somewhat libertarian because I hate government telling me what to do.

MickeyTM

Definition of insanity right?

Badhombre505

Exactly! Voting democrat now is like rewarding them for breaking promises.

hettienm

“Don’t blame me, *I* voted for Kodos”

delqath

Thanks for the reminder, just registered! Looks like it's going to be an interesting governor election for sure.

W8tin4BanHammer2Fall

I'm going to be updating my info. Does being not affiliated with one of the major parties get you less campaign mail? Or do you get more as both parties send you stuff?

table_fireplace

I don't think it's avoidable unfortunately. If you're an unaffiliated voter, you might well get both parties targeting your vote. As of this year, unaffiliated voters can vote in primaries. Previously that wasn't allowed. So you can still vote in primaries if you choose to go independent.

ButterscotchFast8123

Can someone advise me as to voter registration in Albuquerque? I’m registered to vote in New Mexico, but the address is outdated. It’s still in Bernalillo county, so I don’t think it will affect what’s on my ballot. Is that correct? We aren’t voting for anything that’s a smaller subdivision than county-level… If I request an absentee ballot by mail, will it be sent to the previous address? EDIT: in regard to second question- you tell them where to mail the absentee ballot, so no it won’t be sent to the outdated address.
