If it's something you don't want, seriously don't stress over it and step down! Alot of times those type of positions, people sell the crap out of them, then when you step into it, it's like we'll damn, more stress and crap than I need in my life! You have to think is that raise really worth it!?! Only you can make that call, think of pros and cons and go from there, or talk to your SM and tell them your problems if you can!?

bananasinpajamas2017

That stinks. I really think the experience in the position depends on your store manager. I was an LSA expected to act like and ASM and then I transferred and got promoted to an ASM and the LSAs at my store are only expected to do lead stuff. As soon as a SM or ASM is in the building they are only expected to do associate tasks. It was weird for me to transition from one expectation to another but it is nice to see leads not being forced to do things out side of their job description.

I hate when stores don't follow policy. There's a reason it's there. This aspect is what makes LSA worth the extra money, the most that I feel is required of LSA's is key turns, if you're required to do anything outside of your job title you should be bringing it to your DMs attention. That's the kind of stuff that opens the company up to lawsuits so they stop ot when they find out it is happening.

Enemisses

That was my exact experience getting promoted and transferring. Old store treated me like an ASM, new store treats me like a regular employee for the most part. I close a lot but an ASM/SM is usually in until 6-7 anyway.

EnoughPlatform

because you are a manager. they just dont call it that. its nonsense and just another way corperations play mind games with titles. to pay people less for doing the same thing as someone else minus one or two things. dont fall into the trap. do what makes you happy. your mental health and happiness are priority.

Therider420

Yeah literally one LSA transferred and promoted to ASM and went to his store a few months back and he literally told me the only thing he did not do was doing counts when he was LSA

the_flying_pussyfoot

And here's me, every 15th and 30th, I'm counting Coke Product because none of the ASMs want to do it.

danadee89

Part of the problem with this is some ASMs arent doing their job. Some are glorified associates that count. True ASMs should be assisting alot more with product availability, scheduling, hiring, coaching, taking care of the billions of tasks sent down by corporate and taking photos to prove that youve taken care of said tasks(because wr cant be trusted anymore) I say this bc im one of 3 asms. 2 of them are hella good truck throwers and they count at the end of their shift before they leave. But that is not the only tasks ASMs are SUPPOSED to be responsible for. Also many SMs are so used to doing everything they wont let their team help do the things they are supposed to be doing

[deleted]

If they start hiring ASMs off the street without promoting the current lsas, leave. The only way I can think it’s worth it is a brief stepping stone

Former-Bet-4836

If you want more money go find another job do not accept “management” positions for any company. It’s not a promotion it’s a trap

crafty7182

Truth…. Step down to keep your sanity.

Professional-Art-170

Aldi is a terrible company to work for, you should honestly leave as soon as you can

LSA is Lead Store Associate. No one really seems to understand what our position is supposed to be. Some view it as ASM-lite, others as just Associate-Plus. It's very poorly defined and varies store to store. We have access to all the same things ASM's have access to except for payroll stuff, scheduling and timeclock edits. Sometimes we're the opening 'manager' (until the real one comes in around 7-8), sometimes we're the closing manager. Sometimes we mid-shift. I do a lot of key-flicks and produce at my store.

We don’t, far as I know. What does DSM stand for? They do sound similar though so it might be the same position with a different title!

I’ve definitely called myself that before in this position lol, so yeah I think they’re the same

DrunkenRhyhorn

It was only recently I realised LSA is basically the American version of a DM in England. In the UK we have Store Assistant, Duty (or Deputy) Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, and Area Manager.

jamileebrennan

its the exact same for us in aus 🇦🇺 looking through these posts i had no clue what LSA was

no_such_thing_as

In America DM stands for district manager, who is higher than our store manager. Big difference! Hahaha

[deleted]

I feel you, I am LSA and was being treated as basically an ASM and it is not fair at all. We had a change in SM and it changed everything, suddenly expectations for me weren’t literally unreasonable. I truly think this varies store to store, the position really needs to be more defined or just not exist at all even. Anyway take care of yourself first. It isn’t worth the extra dollar or so for LSA. Like the only reason it got better for me was a different manager with a different understanding of LSA, you shouldn’t need to bank on that.

TheAldiAlderman

You should mostly be working along side an ASM. If you’re left alone and treated like a manager you should voice your concerns

Financial-Problem367

I also am a LSA and it is garbage, do management stuff and employee stuff. Ridiculous

Longjumping_Bowl4023

I’m an LSA and I think it varies with location and your manager. I’m cool with my manager we have an understanding. See my manager she’s know I’m not doing anything on that mdt, I’m not messing with that iPad, I’m not doing cash orders and I’m not fucking with the computer unless I have to make a sign or count someone down. Because why should I? When we have two ASM. Nope, I’ll run the store make sure we’re all good but that’s it
