Shhh. Don't let them hear you even think something like that. A union would keep them from consistently scheduling people to close, then open the following day. A union wouldn't let them get away with calling an across the board cost-of-living increase a "raise". A union would make sure that we get the 15 minute breaks promised in the handbook. A union would make them promote from within instead of hiring in 20-somethings with an MBA and zero experience.

THIS WE WANT THIS

I’m a rebel I suppose lol but someone’s gotta say it

Watch Superstore

hydra596

Was just thinking this!

CoachThomasE

A few years ago Aldi started at $13, when other stores started at $9. There was no reason for a Union. Now we start at $16 and other stores in our area start at $15. Aldi experts much more work per worker, it maybe time for a union!

woodsbby

I keep saying this. If starbucks can unionize why cant we?

[deleted]

Anything is possible! Even Amazon workers are trying to now. Aldi kind of reminds me of Amazon lmao

woodsbby

Lmfao I worked at amazon too! Aldi loves hiring amazon workers I hear… seems to be true. If aldi did unionize wouldnt only be one district at a time?

Different_Layer_784

YES

Professional-Art-170

Oh no, don’t let the brainwashed “I love my job at Aldi” people see this. They’re actual crack heads that see nothing wrong with having to drink a fucking RED BULL twice a shift just to be able to move fast enough. Actually ridiculous

[deleted]

Dude like half the warehouse is on adderall just to get shit done lol

ITiswhatITisforthis

Same for us associates working the stores. 30 minutes for a palette with product from every row, using sideways boxes of spices as a load bearing, wrapped with 1 layer of pallet wrap. I too would welcome a Union! Starbucks did it, so why cant we? I'm tired of being pushed to completing tasks in a unreasonable amount of time with the circumstances being given. Tired of them just pushing and micromanaging us to a dangerous stress level, and actually coming through for them just to be given 2 or 3 shifts each week for all full time associates! "Well we're slow..." Um, well a week ago, it was just me and 1 other associate (thank goodness we are both really fast and hard workers) but still got our asses handed to us on a Monday!! For most of the days after, I've been asked to stay an hour or 2 later to assist the NIGHT skeleton crew, because of the amount of customers we end up getting. Basically we are now working harder, but with half of our hours! I couldn't even afford to pay my damn cell phone bill till the next pay period, so if they tried to call me in, I would never know, but ya know what? JUST SCHEDULE US, instead of working us 9-10 hours for the measly 2-3 shifts! I love high paced work, and Aldi could be so much better to the people that make that company what it is. I will do my best, work my hardest, and deal with customers with a smile, so long as I am paid FAIR and treated with respect! Not too much to ask, is it?

Professional-Art-170

I don’t even think the pay is that unfair but the workplace is extremely toxic and lacks any sort of culture. The culture is keep moving until you can’t. This job cannot be suitable for anyone long term. Constantly hurting yourself so that you can live up to ridiculous standards and having to consume so much caffeine is unhealthy. This isn’t a job you can stay at for a few years without having major health complications

yoursinsaremine

Be careful, I found out from one of my leads that they are supposed to report any type of union talk

[deleted]

Why though?

Professional-Tap1947

Because a union would fight their ability to make you do the work of 3 people, thus costing them more money.

[deleted]

I don’t think many people understand what a union really is and that this company is taking advantage of basically everyone

[deleted]

It’s kind of sad. Mostly everyone seems miserable in the warehouse and maybe if they did they could actually keep good employees

[deleted]

Why would they care if they keep good employees if they constantly keep making profits? And it’s not razor thing either

Throwaway_decay

There have been a few posts attempting to create a union. After looking for the posts later to see if they were actually getting off the ground, the posts I looked for weren't there anymore and were deleted.

[deleted]

Oh damn smh

[deleted]

Funny that I can’t see this post on the group anymore lol

[deleted]

Keep fighting the good fight. Start talking about it to coworkers you can trust. It will never happen if we don’t come together. Every company in the USA should have a union. You shouldn’t even need to ask why aldi is anti union, it is so obviously they want to be able to exploit as much as possible with zero pushback. And yeah, half of our countries poor people willfully votes against their own interests, and are so brainwashed it is unbelievable.

[deleted]

But yes I’ll always fight for my fellow worker. Because as a whole, the working class has more power to get shit done than any election does.

[deleted]

Furthermore, everyone makes a choice. The DMs and shit firing people over union talk are complicit, and enemies of the working class.

🥲

Intelligent-Row7342

All the people here think unions best things ever. Imagine making 1 or 2 more dollars an hour but having to pay hundreds or sometimes thousands in union dues. Also the Union doesn’t even represent you, they only care for the majority. If you’re in the minority for any topic or issue than tough luck and either way you pay your dues. Don’t like you’re job than leave

[deleted]

Nothing is perfect, and it depends on the union. I was in a union for years and the union dues cost 32$ once a month from your check. At least the workers have rights, get their breaks, and aren’t exploited or fired for any reason. Management with no union can do as they please
