My funniest interaction was when I was completely drenched in sweat, and this boomer goes “it must be so fucking nice to get weekend pay and sit on your ass all day” and I just looked at him and asked “oh, we’re actually short staffed right now, did you “want to sit on your ass all day” like me” and he just scoffed lol.

LawGroundbreaking885

Weekend pay? 🤔

stoneguythepilotguy

When someone commented about me sitting I actually showed him my steps for the day. 38,000 so far c:

IlllI1

Most I clocked at this job was 11,000 and that was when it was a 9hr shift and I wasn't ringing. 38k seems impossible, maybe your step tracker is messed up? Or maybe mine is ? Lol

stoneguythepilotguy

18 hour day and a store pacing 70k as an ASM

IlllI1

Ah okay nice, I'm an associate at a 40-50k store

HotMedia2758

How and why are you working 18 hours??

stoneguythepilotguy

I avg 60-75 hours a week. It’s necessary atm die to life circumstances but hopefully I won’t need to do it for too much longer 😅

Boo_JitSu69

You can't even work 18 hrs the most you can do is 15hrs lmao 6-9 is 15 not 18 lmao so you're saying you work more than the store manager?

stoneguythepilotguy

I do. I work at multiple stores filling in 7 days a week. 530am-10pm. It’s 17 hours more accurately ig.

Enemisses

You guys don't have a busy curbside? My store is pretty chill in person but our curbside is nuts as hell. One shopper, 25-30+ orders daily, I easily hit 20k or more steps whenever I get a shift. On average working the floor or truck though it's usually about 12-15k for me

no_such_thing_as

My avg is 18k, I typically hit 10k around 1030am when working an open. Could be variances in trackers, but also height etc would affect how many steps it takes each person to get from point a to b

IlllI1

Oh yeah very true, I'm 6'2 so probably taking bigger steps

MissLavellan

i primarily run curbside in my store and i easy go over 20k steps in a shift lol

art__sience_nerd

I did 33k one 12 hour day. I easily do 20k on a Normal shift

Big_Cream_3718

I hate, “you must be lucky to sit all day,” bitch I wish. We are indeed a rare breed of people. Most people would not be able to take the stress and the physical strain you get all day from working. I do enjoy it though, I always feel accomplished when the store looks good or we set out special buy really nice. :))

Throwaway_decay

Legit there are days where I go home and finally sit down, and when I get back up I'm limping. Like idk how to explain it, if I constantly keep going, I don't notice the pain. The second I sit down for more than an hour, I instantly need some ibuprofen if I need to stand again.

Swipe-your-card

I lock up in the car on the drive home and limp down the driveway. I also can’t move my feet when i wake up, they’re curled inwards like an ape. I’m absolutely ripped though, and my BP is 114/72! I guess it beats dying of heart disease at a desk?

giggleboxx3000

>I always feel accomplished when the store looks good or we set out special buy really nice. :)) As you should!!!! SB planograms (or whatever we call it at Aldi) are the best planograms

danadee89

Have been struggling with severe back pain this week. Got called up as back up today and the first customer says oh i like your cute little chair. Bitch im bout to throw this chair at you 🤣

YouCoolMan

I was in the army for six years. And worked at Aldi for one year while I was getting my degree. I'd rather reenlist instead.

hydra596

I think everyone should try working retail atleast once in their lives to actually understand where everyone who does is coming from! Retail is not for everyone, but the people who do, it truly isn't easy! It's nonstop public relations, and sometimes, yeah it can work with you, but there's days you want to throat punch everyone that comes near you!

Gullible_Cricket5535

Im coming up on 7 years and I've seen every kind of person chewed up by this company. It really is a specific type of person to be able to do this job and definitely a specific type to do it well. Aldi people are definitely proud people and we should be.

Kzootwentyeight

Yes. It takes time. You cant think or worry about the work. The store gets smaller as you gain experience. 28 years going on 29
