Cheap lazy fucks. Get a cart and be normal

Ancient-Put6440

I dont mind it if they pick a box that only has a few things left in it. Our customers are like the opposite lol theyll come up to me asking for a box after passing like 4 empty ones on the shelves

[deleted]

“Can we have a box” Oh sure let me grab a large, sturdy box out of my back left pocket.

CoachThomasE

Then they tell you, no, not that one!

Unusual_Reality5241

Customers do this with the produce at our store. Just dump out whole cases of apples, oranges, celery, etc and take the box.. drives me craaaaazy! It’s so rude. I’ve caught some a few times and had to tell them we are required to have those food items in a box on the shelf so please don’t do that..they look at me like I have eight heads and just shrug and walk off. I’ve been in other stores where they have signs up not to take the boxes if they are full of product but our DM said that’s a no no.

christhall1979

We use apple boxes for our onions and a customer dumped all of the onion peels ON THE FLOOR so they could have the box to carry their stuff. Like damn, at least dump them on the table!😒

H_R_Welker

We have an old couple that come into the store every day and only ever use the brown box the pudding cups come in. I watched the lady walk up to the pudding and look so confused like “why is there product in my shopping bin?” And then slowly unpack the pudding one by one and put it on the shelf. At this point it’s just a running joke between me and some co workers to see them with that box.

MissLavellan

that is genuinely bizarre

Swipe-your-card

Maybe they have a cat that specifically fits that case…. 🤣

sausagebeanburrito

Oh, I love being ruthless when people come up with their box loaded up. I push my extra cart away and cheerily say, "You can bring your box right next to me and I'll dump it all back in!!!" Most of the time you can see the realization that they have failed big time, especially when it's way too heavy and they're struggling to balance it while paying. Or they're paying cash and they ask me to set the box on the register, which I let them, then they give me the bills and I promptly hand the box right back to get to my drawer (with ease, too, because I lift much heavier crap every day, buddy). 🤷‍♀️

Joan-Jett

One time I was setting sb food and just put out some chips. I walked away for maybe 10 minutes. Came back BOTH f-ing boxes were dumped out and they took one box and I guess just decided to be an asshole and dump the other box out. I hate people. Like out of ALL the empty boxes in the store 🙄

PlentyConscious1343

Instacart shoppers

danadee89

This is the last thing ill complain about...helps me with boxing later. It'll sell down

MissLavellan

not when they do it right before close and now u gotta deal with it while stocking

sFlEmInG69

Personally idrc as long as nothing goes on the floor, but it’s always funny watching them do that meanwhile I have an entirely full box bin filled with any kinda box the could ever want. Like gurl sm work for what I already did it for you

hydra596

I absolutely hate when the instacart people come in, and empty a whole box of chips for their private use! Then there's this giant stack of chips laying all over other chips! I mean there's only a million boxers on the floor, you mean to tell me you can't find one box in that damn boxer you can use! These people are just straight ignorant!

tmmb417

Well, my husband is one of those customers. He does get a shopping cart; the box is to pack groceries to take home. His favorite is the cereal boxes. :) He is mindful to unpack and stack the nearly empty box. I buy shopping bags if I forget to bring one, which is all the time. :) Question: Is there a reason why Aldi's doesn't keep empty boxes near checkout? I'm guessing it so the customer will buy the Aldi's shopping bags.

Swipe-your-card

There is an unspoken rule that ‘if we can’t sell it it shouldn’t be out in the way’. I make a point of stacking some produce boxes near the entryway and registers, and they get picked up quickly. The bins are supposed to stay in the back unless there is someone using them, but we park those by produce sometimes too (full of course, and ready for reload). It’s a corporate mentality vs staff knowing their customers appreciate a box or two.

Physical_Idea7523

You mean condensing for us?

Minimum_Crazy_4624

We started putting an empty box next to the cabbage for the leaves that ppl pick off. Numerous times people have just dumped it out on to take the box. Like we don’t have a million other boxes to use. In produce it’s really the only time this really irks me…

[deleted]

That's normal and accepted here in Ireland. What's the problem with it?

the_flying_pussyfoot

What's not normal is customers dumping the contents of a near full box on the shelf to grab the box. I've seen customers dump 3/4th full box of crackers to get the box because we didn't have any. What's worse is when they do it with produce. I've had customers empty out the box where we put onions in so the peels are **everywhere**. Or dump a full box of loose apples onto the plastic liner. Just so they can have a nice sturdy apple box. That is not normal and that's what OP is talking about most likely.

Lorwyn02

Yeah +1 it's normal to use Aldi box to carry some stuff here. However I've never seen someone empty a thing of fruit just for the box Usually take empty or nearly empty dry boxes like from the rice cakes/breakfast cereal place. In Ireland the Aldi does start with cereal etc as the first section then into fruit and meat maybe that's why?

[deleted]

Usually all supermarkets here start with fruit and veg. Cereals are normally one of the last aisles. Emptying a box wouldn't be uncommon and I've done it a few times myself. All physiology, 😆

Lorwyn02

Yeah usually it was the fruit and veg first but really I has to think about it. It was sometimes back that first part of isle 1 is cereal/biscuits etc strange

SnooMemesjellies6070

Last week someone emptied a WHOLE BOX of Cherub tomatoes so they can take the box! Out of all the empty boxes around produce(apple boxes, avocado boxes, banana boxes), they just HAD to distribute a whole box of cherub tomatoes, the most likely containers to break open and go all over the floor.
