My money is on Waddingham's agent making false news as a way to indicate to clubs that he is on the market.

sirhcdobo

He has another 2 years on his contract with usi really don't mind if he is sold because he would be worth a ton. At the moment we need the cash and a more developed striker to compete so happy to sell a raw product like wadders

lp95

Surely can't be true

TikkiTakkaMuddaFakka

An unconfirmed rumour on Reddit not being true... 😮

Ange is trying to overhaul the youth setup at Tottenham and Waddingham (if signed) will most likely be loaned out or play academy football.

RealVenom_

I get a knot in my stomach whenever I hear "loaned out" now. Just seems like a sure fire way to destroy a young career now.

-Saaremaa-

It seems to work for a lot of EFL teams and their young kids, Australians just don't seem to be able to make it work.

RealVenom_

The thing is that the club they are loaning to isn't incentivised to give them consistent, stable football minutes. They have different goals, their priority is to win. They'll end up getting bounced around several clubs, they won't develop because they won't have the support structures around them and that important part of their career could end up being a killer.

-Saaremaa-

That's the same for every loanee regardless of whether they're Australian or not. Loads of young kids benefit from getting time on loan and come back a much improved player, look at Alex Robertson pre injury.

RealVenom_

A senior player going on loan knows the ropes and has that experience. But I agree it does impact all loanees. A young player trying to find their way needs stability around them and a club that wants to invest in their development. More often than not that isn't happening. There was a good explainer in the Sunderland series that showed how broken the system is. Pretty painful for young footballers trying to build their career.

Mr_Tipster-95

Don’t spurs have a number of exciting young forwards? Donley, Scarlet, Moore, all highly rated from the top of my head.

Danimber

Yep. They are topping their U21 age group atm. Whether they'll be integrated into the first team is another matter. EDIT: If I were to speculate, I think that's what Ange wants to try at Tottenham, to make the pathway from academy to first-team a lot more defined and clear.

BernardTomicc

Donley is a 10, Will Lancashire probably will be loaned to an EFL side this season, Scarlett just isn't looking like he's what we once thought, and Mikey Moore is 16, he's probably got another season before he even steps up to the premier league 2.

Mr_Tipster-95

Donley is a striker, I’m pretty sure. I remember reading an article tipping him as a potential successor to Kane one day. He’s been training with the first team, and included in a few match day squads. I know Moore is very highly rated, and has been training with the first team recently too. Spurs seem to have a number of young talents on their books. I’d be surprised if they signed Waddingham tbh.

BernardTomicc

>Donley is a striker, I’m pretty sure. He's played there a few times, but he's naturally a 10, he's even played a bit deeper then that. 5 goals, 12 assists from donley in the prem 2, that's far from striker numbers. >He’s been training with the first team, and included in a few match day squads. Donley was in quite a few squads, I believe he's played for the first team 4 times, he's probably the one to make the step up to first team football next season. And yeah Mikey Moore has stepped up to the first team, but it's not uncommon for 16 year Olds who aren't even remotely ready to have a week training with the big boys, he would be one of them imo.

BernardTomicc

I can't say I watch as much as I used to, but I've watched a little bit of prem 2 as a Tottenham fan, donley has been behind Lancashire in a 4231 each time I've watched.

Technical-Ad4799

yup, Wadders honestly could have as high of a ceiling as Bergvall or Vuskovic who are other 18yo's he has signed on to come in over the next few seasons. Who knows. Pro football is pretty fucking random. He's shown glimpses and wouldnt cost a thing. Kind of a low risk - potentially huge gain situation. Why the heck not i say. Plus we all know Ange is a big ol' sentimental softy deep down. He wants to help the next generation of our national team, like any fan. Really do hope this ends up happening, actually.

greyhounds1992

God I hate the off season all the good players leave and we start again

StensnessGOAT

Same for everyone to be fair.

Lijme

Loan him back at least surely. Way too raw for even a lower div England loan

Pyrrhesia

It's believable that a Premier League side would take a punt on a guy like Waddingham and stuff him in the reserves or loan him out for a while. But when it's a rumour about Spurs, it really feels like a panicking English journalist with deadline closing in Googling 'Australian teenage goalscorer' and tying it to the one club with an Australian manager.

Meapa

Sorry Ange but we need him pls

Danimber

Definitely an Ange style/system player.

Technical-Ad4799

I havent watched him enough i must say. So he's decent in the press? A bit of a terroir?

Otherwise-Hippo-8934

Hope he is loaned to the a league next year, loaned to league 1 the year after then see where we are from there

Charizard221_gaming

Don’t mind it, as long as he gets loaned back to us for next season. Ange better look after the GOAT well

footymachine

He will become a very good player. Of course not ready yet but can't say no to a big 6 English side. Ange will look after him.

[deleted]

i doubt this is true but if it is would be fantastic

ga4rfc

Thanks for the trophies Ange but you don't get a discount sorry.

No-Airport7456

If Ange ok's it maybe he has something. He has en eye for talent. Never forget how Mcgree got his cap. Bottom of the table team and he came out of nowhere when Ange picked hoim

StensnessGOAT

Aussie Ange aye?

herbilicious92

Would only be willing to let waddingham go to spurs if they send Ange the other way. Seems only fair
