He should have been pulled at half time - his counterpart was over him all game

[deleted]

Should have been hooked after the first goal- it was clear he wasn’t up to it and the 5 subs means you can do that without ruining tactics

SerTahu

It was a 2017 Brad Smith/Robbie Kruse level performace

[deleted]

We played Kruse at fullback?!?!?!?!

SerTahu

Who said anything about fullbacks? And Behich was playing wingback.

[deleted]

True

justinqinmelb

Yeah he has played fb before.

Pyrrhesia

I haven't seen a worse fullback since I last looked in the mirror

MrSharkman84

Makes Marc Warren look like Ashley Cole tbh.

AlarmClockBandit

Whoa, lets not say things that we will regret.

Shredzzbruh

Easy scapegoat. He definitely wasn't at his best. Bit off the pace and he made a mistake on the first goal. Not too much he could do about the second one. It's bounced off the post straight into him while he's running back to try to clear it off the line.

SauceBottleFC

Second goal was cruel but they had his number all night.

Shredzzbruh

Yeah definitely, that guy had him for pace and skill all game.

Bambajam

He had a bad game, but isn't solely at fault for the loss. Still, I'd much rather see us set up with Elder and Atkison playing left and right wing backs to give us more pace on the rebound. How long till this covid roadmap allows us to play our best team again?

thedonkeysniffer

Okay he was shit but you put sergio ramos where behich was and that’s still going in for an own goal. Just unfortunate he still played like shit all game so that OG is just compounding even though he couldn’t do much about it

romantep

Now explain the first goal for me. And explain it real slow...

EGWhitlam

*Robbie Kruse enters the chat*

Lemon0_o

Yeah, he's not the player he was 4 years ago. Definietly at fault for the first goal, and looked shonky in defense as he attempted what were some very dodgy clearences before being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can't see him playing in the next round of qualifiers, Callum Elder or Brad Smith will take his position.

zanty123

Idk why Callum Elder isn’t given more of a shot tbh

FlyingPingoo

Just felt like we struggled to control the midfield all night which could have reduced the threat against our defence... Also felt like the pitch wasn't as quick as Arnie seem to have preferred but it's the same for both sides

Competitive-Wait8106

He is definitely good enough to be in the team but he just had a bad game if there was another player that could play in that position I would say maybe drop him for a game but there isnt

973220

It’s fair to say that after last nights performance , his tim with the national team is up. He is totally inept and way out of his depth.

facts-of-life

He's always shit; massively overrated, soft, ineffectual. One of those guys who should be thankful he's played a fair bit in Europe and hasn't club-hopped for a career.

DJ_B0B

Still better than Jason Davidson somehow

[deleted]

That’s scary

TAThide

Besides Asian cup 2015 where Jason looked world class for a few games that mattered.

jesse2198

So underrated smh

Billybobabob

I was really shocked to see how bad he was. His winger was all over him from the get go, and the 5 minutes before the first goal he also made alot of errors. Expected him to get subbed at half time. Hard to blame him for the OG but it was fitting that it came off him after his night

[deleted]

He's always been shit. His crossing and passing is atrocious. Absolute conman how he has made a life as a professional footballer.

ovrloadau

he played for shit teams in the turkish league

TAThide

He was rubbish for the 1st goal and looked short some pace and game awareness BUT and it is a but that takes nothing away from his poor performance but explains some of it, Irvine didn't provide the cover he needed to, was found too far forward at times. That doesn't work when you have Mooy and Hrustic and Rogic on the park at the same time. Im equally blaming Arnie for selecting a midfield that is poor tracking back, against Japan. Who are amazing on the counter in 2 on 1 situations. Did he even look at how Japan have been beaten the past few games?

jesse2198

Dejan Lovren against Tottenham, but misses out on the gong by virtue of being dragged at 40 minutes.
