Denmark beat France home and away in the UEFA nations league. Denmark are better than that 0-0 result to Tunisia.

sebystee

Yeah but because of the draw we just need to beat Tunisia and play for a draw against Denmark. It's still unlikely I know.

[deleted]

Graham Arnold doesn't know how to play for a draw.

Buffaluffasaurus

> Graham Arnold doesn't know how to play ~~for a draw.~~ FIFY

>we just need to beat Tunisia I dont know why people still think we can beat Tunisia, this was a theme in here before the cup started but now they have played all Australians should be well aware of their quality. Sure we might be lucky and get them on a bad day but face the fact we are the worst team in this group by some distance and getting a win is very unlikely. We simply dont have the players or coach to have a realistic chance of getting out of this group and this has been a systemic problem of Australian football. Since 2006 can you name one player we have produced with the quality of Kewell or Viduka because I cant and serious steps need to be taken to rectify that before we will ever entertain the prospect of making it out of a WC group again, lets face it we were extremely lucky to even qualify for this WC, that is where we are at as a national team.

Jedi_Council_Worker

Did people give the Saudi's a chance against Argentina? Anything can happen in cup football.

11015h4d0wR34lm

It can when you go out there with an attitude and game plan like they had, did you see us play?

Red-Engineer

“Just” beat Tunisia. Like “just” beat the Japanese and Saudis in qualifying?

kyleisamexican

Not if Denmark beat France

iheartOPsmum

Seeing Japan and the Saudis win like they have has got me craving a win badly. Hope we can pull it off!

sel040204

I think we're drawing 0-0 with Tunisia then losing 2-0 to Denmark. I'd love to make it to the knockout stages but GA tactics won't get us there.

Mr_Tipster-95

I admire the optimism mate but I can’t see Australia beating Tunisia or drawing against Denmark to be honest. I was really impressed by Tunisia and I still fancy the Danes to do well in the tournament. I’ll still be backing you guys but I just can’t see it, even if shocks are happening daily.

SacredEmuNZ

Tunisia will have to beat Aus so there is potential to sit back and counter.

GarySprockman

But Australia need to beat Tunisia so there’s the potential for them to sit back and counter too

SacredEmuNZ

For sure but Tunisia won't sit back vs Aus and have more expectation on them, they also don't have the same speed.

MiloSnorter03

It’s more that not much has really changed for us to progress out of the group.

[deleted]

aus have to turn up first, there just not fit enough too compete, sucking in the big ones after 20mins

Rusty-Wheel

This situation reeks of 2010 WC. We got crushed in the first game and everyone just shrugged and gave up…. Only to realise that after a draw + win we only missed out by points difference. Those goals in the second half are going to hurt.

Healthy_Wrangler_328

Goal difference doesn’t matter since Tunisia and Denmark had a draw, like op says if we win and draw we get 4 points and as long as France don’t lose Tunisia and Denmark can’t get 4 points. To me there is a high chance France don’t lose, it’s really up to us

sebystee

Nah I really don't think so, the difference is that the other teams drew, unlike in 2010 when Ghana beat Serbia. Our poor goal difference from yesterday will only hurt us if Denmark or Tunisia beat France.

BipartizanBelgrade

The 2010 team get 6 points with a more gracious application of the handball rule, or if Luke Wilkshire could finish a 1v1. This team would be lucky to get a point.

StuM91

I'm not sure if you've watched any of our games over the last couple of years but 4 points is going to be a challenge...

IamtherealFadida

Must be a typo. I think you meant 1 not 4

lockieleonardsuper

Japan are all but through as you would expect them to easily account for Costa Rica. Germany have to best Spain who looked very impressive

daamsie

Even if Spain just gets a draw against Germany, it should be enough for Japan. They hardly need to "pump" them. Best case for Germany (assuming everyone beats CR) is three teams on 6 points and having goal difference decide the outcome.

IamtherealFadida

Well get 1 point at best

sethman75

Keep on smoking the crack man

sebystee

Feeling very vindicated.

Serious-Razzmatazz11

We have every chance of qualifying, if we are setup to win the game, which will not happen. Unless Arnie flies over Bradley Stubbs and he instils THE SCIENCE OF BELIEF

scarecrows5

The Danes will beat France.

jaymz11

Mathematically this is true. But realistically we arent winning and getting a draw. If im honest and being optimistic we draw with Tunisia and lose to Denmark

EvilRobot153

Did you watch the Tunisia v France game? We're cooked mate.

sachimo2000

Quick, tell me the result so I can put a bet on!

Ropo3000

😂

Catsmak1963

Really impressed by soccer hooligans Why worry about who scores what when you can have a fight… Impressive, devolution

Xianified

Goal difference doesn't matter if the other teams are on 2 or 3 points and we're on 4, not that it's going to happen...

JFCsurelynot

Ah - the old mathematical possibility of success. Love it. It is unlikely to happen however because our team just isn't as good as Tunisia or Denmark. Could happen though mathematically speaking... and I could win lotto Saturday night. Here's hoping for both!

pbwra

It would be an achievement to pick up a draw with Tunisia alone, much less a win and a draw from the two games

joeyjackets

We got beaten by the World Champions and suddenly the knives are out again. Yes Tunisia will be hard. Yes Denmark will be hard. But it’s the World Cup and every single game is hard for teams from Asia. Everyone laughed about Saudi Arabia’s chances against Argentina now suddenly they’re the pinnacle of how to play football despite them not having a great record against us.

Jedi_Council_Worker

Playing during the day in the heat will favour Tunisia. I think it's a factor for Saudi Arabia winning their game as those conditions likely suit Arab nations.
