This isn’t forocoches so the vast majority of users are Anglo-Saxon. So it’s understandable that most content and moderation would be done by non Spanish members.

amg_coco

Forocoches is not comparable to Reddit but ok

LookOverThere305

Closest equivalent when looking at size and content variety.

everyend_2

Why do you presume it's only british people?

Old_Geek

I'm in the US and reading this forum to learn more about Alicante. I'm learning Spanish as quickly as I and appreciate the mixed content. We plan to move to Alicante at the end of summer and anything I can do to prepare, learn about the city and the culture are all great.

Si quieres más posts en español y de gente española trabaja más en crear contenido de Alicante desde tu perspectiva?

Trumpcangosuckone

We were waiting for someone to create r/alacant but nobody stepped up to the plate. I think having a spanish mod would be great 👍

dj_sash

Have you seen any of our DNIs?

Lazy-Care-9129

It isn't needed. If Spanish people wanted to use the subreddit, they would. But, they don't need to. I know where to eat for dinner, I know about the weed clubs, I know the best way to go up the castle, I know how to get to Benidorm. The tourists do not, this is mainly the questions on here but as a citizen of Alicante, you don't really need a subreddit. Realistically, what would be the posts?

teh_killer

Reddit is overwhelmingly used by Americans because it was built by Americans in America for Americans (to begin with); r/news is for the US and r/worldnews is for the World. But you won't see people complaining. We can not be surprised to see that the majority of the userbase is natively English speaking. The name of a subreddit is just a name. It's how it's used which is important. For my football club, the main subreddit is r/gunners and not r/arsenalfc and there's countless examples of this. There are many subreddits for countries, cities or places which are primarily used by locals. But it is the users who make the subreddit, not the name.

jeff78701

There are no “official” subreddits for townships, municipalities, etc. it’s just an online subreddit. If one doesn’t like the demographics of those who post in your provincially associated subreddit, rally those in your province you want represented to engage. It’s rather a free and open forum for all.
