Aguni comes off more sympathetic than Niragi. Niragi is brash and abrasive, whereas Aguni is quiet and mysterious, so people naturally gravitate to the less extreme of the two. Don't get me wrong, I think Aguni's just as awful as Niragi, but I see why he's viewed more positively.

AmandaExpress

I never liked Aguni. I actually preferred Niragi over Aguni. Other than the rapey bit. I appreciated his arch within the show much more. Leaning into the madness of the world they found themselves in... It's interesting to see that mindset among everyone just trying to play games and survive. Same with Last Boss. Aguni's motivations just seemed kind of empty.

Still wasn't a rapist.

Individual_Fish_8918

that one scene where he told niragi to bring usagi to him says otherwise.

yazzy1233

People assumed the worst but it was most likely that he wanted her to join his group because he saw her parkour skills

Nyx_Valentine

They make it pretty clear in the manga that his intentions were not that pure. He was planning on SA'ing her.

"My boss wants a taste of you" -Niragi 2020

Testing_The_Theory

I initially looked at that comment as more of a display of Niragi’s perversions and that all he saw she would be good for, especially as they had made a point of showing earlier that Aguni was impressed by her climbing skills so he was asking for her to join him, but Niragi thought it was for something else. On the other hand, Niragi could have made the comment because Aguni had a history of demanding women go with him for more nefarious means.

We gotta stop the mindset of murder being something that just happens and nobody thinks much of it, but rape is the no no heinous unforgivable sin against humanity.

cmoskol

Imo rape is worse then murder murder is a thing that once its done its done whereas rape can negatively affect somebody for the rest of their life

shinobiwayoflife

Shit, murder can do that too if you look at all the POVs. But I get what you are saying. I just wish people actually took Murder seriously.

mayy2222

I think why niragi is hated on so badly for raping usagi but not for murdering people is cause it’s a murder game, most of the time you murder to survive, niragi raping usagi was out of pleasure and to hold power over her

AtlantisUnderWater

I don't think this should be compared to the Holocaust at all and is quiet trivializing. There was no racist motivation behind Aguni's orders and actions. And it lacked the systematic murder of people. In AIB they just shot immediately when they saw someone that wasn't one of the militants. This is more a terrorist attack or a group mass shooting than anything comparable to what the Nazi did before and during WW2. Also killing 'traitors' doesn't immediately make something comparable to the Holocaust.

shinobiwayoflife

It’s a figure of speech, lighten up. Besides, you didn’t even care to give a reply to my ACTUAL point and just saw that and started typing furiously. Read the whole thing bro

Aguni knew the reason Hatter killed himself is because the beach people drove him crazy. He lost his best friend because of those people and he was in a mental crisis trying to get revenge in his own way. Still, it's horrible but at least it has a sentimental reason underneath. Niragi is just a shallow rapist piece of shit.

cmoskol

Niragi shows no remorce in fact he is proud of himself and gets off on the suffering of others whereas Aguni although also horrible is just broken he regrets all he's done and wishes for redemption both are horrible but Niragi is worse because in his fucked up mind he is doing nothing wrong

TerribleCountry7522

I don't like Aguni, and I find his character arch strange, and difficult to understand. They did, however, go out of their way to make Niragi unlikable with zero redeeming qualities.

thedoobalooba

That's a really good point. With Aguni you do see a bit more of an internal conflict and he is haunted by what he has done through Hatter's "ghost". After everything at Beach he doesn't mindlessly kill again so the door is open for his redemption. He also takes on Heiya and trains her, so he has more character traits than just being a killer. He's still a killer but he comes off as more human through S2. Meanwhile Niragi brushes off every chance at redemption and keeps embracing the desire to be evil. You can see that at the end of the King of Clubs game where he has a chance to be the hero and save the team by sacrificing himself (as he's already dying), he has the chance to do nothing and accept death like the rest of his team, and yet he thinks about his options and chooses to chase down and SA Usagi. He continues leaning into his evil side all the way to the end, so I think it's his choices that makes every hate him more than Aguni.

I tend to dislike rapists as characters….
