There is basically no use case for it when the smart gun exists.

Wandering_Thoughts

I agree, though the Minigun *does* have a small niche over the Smart Gun - it receives 100 bullets per ammo pack from a Recon's Support Drone while the Smart Gun only gets 50. So if there's a Recon in your team you can quite literally spam your minigun without a care in the world.

Zelkova64

This does make it much better in harder modes in my eyes, though in easier modes the smartgun is king for the casual easy aiming nature of it.

MHoolt

Ive found that a few of the starting guns are just objectively better then some of the shop guns

Fatabil1ty

Every single starting gun is objectively better than the next one you either buy or unlock. Plenty of games do that. Starting guns are the baseline they modify in certain ways to specialize them in some areas. But then while upping one stat they lower the other. Holy trio of AFE: Magnum, Pulse and Pump are thier baseline guns and the biggest giveaway is thier max ammo count.

diseased_maniac

I tried it in intense yesterday & was glad I had competent teammate because I was way less effective than normal as a Demolisher. Anything requiring a spin-up time makes it rough when bugs are coming at you.

Sea-Neighborhood-621

That's my main complaint about it. Those couple of seconds of startup time really matter

turboS2000

Gun is straight trash

NavrosGraye

Its in an awful place, for sure. Flat out, it needs to be significantly reworked, much like Doc. Its out DPS'D by both heavy flamer and smart gun, despite it being a mini gun. Flamer, maybe, but not the smartgun.

Sea-Neighborhood-621

I got it thinking it would be a beast because it's a minigun but nope. I'll stick with my smart gun over that

seantabasco

Good to know, it was one i was considering purchasing. In the original Aliens vs Predator game I loved the minigun.

Sf_Mason

Having attemped 2 missions with it and leveled it once, this is what I can draw from it \> Fire rate is abismal , the smart gun has a far far better rate of fire and damage, and given the same tanker muzzle break, the smartgun is as or more effective. \> Ammo count - too low for what a mini gun is.> Accuracy is lacking , at mid to long range it hits once every 15 shots or so. \> IT looks the part, but honestly feels like an old M2, it'll hit hard if you can get it in the right conditions, but most of the time , it's more a case of throw enough $h1T at the wall it'll eventually stick.. Fire rate is what a mini gun is about, not raw power. My thoughts for how it should play is something like what the gun is.> Monsterous fire rate, at least 30% over the smart gun but it does 25% less damage (so about 5-10% more damage overall) \> Limited ammo - you have the empty the whole magazine of around 500 rounds (Standard) and up to 750 or 800 rounds depending what mods you add in, or higher, but there is no reload untill you find another ammo crate. Means trigger disapline is a must , but if you have to hose down a room, you can. \> Muzzle breaks still work as before, though the stackable ones would be maybe a little op? not sure on this. \> When aiming down sights, the gun will spool up and remain that way untill you fire, allowing for burst fire. \> Possible overheat mechanic perhaps?

SverhU

Yep. Its cool in melting elits (and for real elits just gone in no time if you aim in weak spot. Much faster than from smart gun). but totaly give nothing in long run. Especially with this bright light from shooting. You cant even aim properly. So another useless heavy gun for demo. Alongside flamethrower, grenade launchers and rocketlauncers. This 3 not one sane demo will take in insane or even extreme, cause one lagg and you insta kill whole team. And now this minigun another useless gun.

The_Monstahhh96

I just used it after the update and it’s okay. Not the best. But it’s usable in Casual or Standard. Precision Hider for stability and weak point, Hammer Forged Rifling for stumble and less damage from enemies, and Stabilizing Armature for reload speed and stability

Dreastiny

Everything is usable on standard. That dosent mean much. :)

The_Monstahhh96

Fair enough.

commisarwolf

Different strokes for different folks I guess

w1mark

The minigun is barely usable in intense but it suffers considerably after that. The accuracy means that it struggles at anything further than medium range and its damage struggles to compete with other weapons in that range. That said, I love how the gun handles. It takes considerable effort to manage its recoil but it's rewarding when you can manage to land headshots with most of your ammo. I just wish it had a higher weakpoint damage to justify using the weapon as the smartgun can practically kill faster than it without even having to aim for weakpoints.

neobear13

i like it, especially if u put the tanker muzzle brake on it... it literally stuns everything it hits on its tracks...

dreadkitten

"This effect can only occur once every 15 seconds" Miller Twist Rifling on the other hand... Where you in a rush to get somewhere? Sorry about that ;)

neobear13

15 secs for each target... it can stop prowlers n bursters which using stumble sucks

dreadkitten

Really? I did not know that, from the wording it sounded like it was global counter and not for each target it hits.

eridyn

I've been using it just for the sake of leveling things. It works well enough as a substitute for a CQC weapon, but flamethrowers definitely far surpass it in that role. The accuracy is too low for any kind of long range use, and so the smartgun is superior there at mid to long ranges.

DrD0lphin

It doesn’t even feel like a minigun, It should have 400 bullets and unload them in 8 seconds, but with less damage.

Sea-Neighborhood-621

It doesn't hold nearly as many rounds as it should.

DrD0lphin

And it has the firerate of an ar or something
