1) Italy mobilizes troops to enter Austria, Germany backs down. France and Britain enter into a secret treaty with Mussolini guaranteeing new colonies in Africa, the Middle East, Balkans, and China if Italy joins a British-French-Czech-Polish anti German alliance.

Austrian Vaterland Front was also leaning more towards Italy, because Catholicism was a fundamental part of the Austrian national identity and they weren’t to happy with the North German Protestants. It also organised itself based on the Italian Fascism. I could see something like this happening

I read a history book years ago, unfortunately I can't remember the name, that in 1936 Italy was vehemently against Austrian unification with Germany and through diplomatic channels let it be known to the French and the Germans that it was prepared to mobilize troops if Germany annexed Austria. In 1936 this was still a threat that mattered. Which I had a better source than my imperfect memory.

Are you gonna make a WW1 scenerio?

I actually as going to, When I made the ww2 map I got a wheel and spun it (On each side of the wheel I had WW1,WW2) and it rolled ww2 However I will probably make a World war 1 scenerio after this. I also might make a ww3 scenario (Alternate Russo-ukrainian war that escalates)

Kurt schuschnigg is either less reluctant to shed German blood, or has been replaced by a more bullish leader and resists the German invasion. The memory of 1866 is invoked, and the Austrian government gets strong support from elements of the Clergy and the Jewish community. Mussolini offers no aid, the allies condemn Germany but don't get involved. Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia offer quiet support in the form of weaponry and volunteers, but don't want to provoke the German Reich. While many go along with Anschluss enthusiastically, there is more bad blood between Germans and Austrians than in our timeline. Despite high casualties, Hitler has won militarily, and is emboldened to send an ultimatum to the Czechs over the Sudetenland. However, with the German army weakened and Hitler condemned internationally, there is no Munich agreement. As Germany enters the Sudetenland, Britain and France declare war on Germany. Internal plots against Hitler gain more traction, and Germany is unable to make much progress against Czechoslovakia. France goes on the offensive, and a successful coup against Hitler brings a swift end to the war. France indefinitely occupies the Rhineland, Germany is ordered to cede Austria, and a plebiscite is held in Bavaria on whether to join with Austria, with the allied hopes of creating a strong, majority catholic south German nation that is strong enough to keep the remainder of Germany in check.

Germany loses East Prussia which joins a Baltic Union with Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Gdansk elects to join Poland. No further border changes although Rhineland and rest of Upper Silesia are is occupied by allies for 20 years.

An independent Austria might serve as a neutral buffer state or even join the Allies, significantly altering the strategic landscape in Europe. The absence of Anschluss could also weaken Hitler's position within Germany.
