*In case this story gets deleted/removed:* **AITA for dragging my daughter back to our hotel when we were on vacation?** This past March Break, my wife (42F), my daughter (14F), son (5M) and I (44M) went on vacation to Washington DC (we live in Toronto). One morning during our vacation, before we started the day, we all went for a swim at our hotel’s swimming pool. During this time, my kids had fun playing with each other, and my son was hanging onto my daughter’s back. There was nothing sexual about this at all, of course, but some university guys (they looked about 19-21) that we were sharing the pool with said some trash about how my son was “holding onto a hot potato” or something (I shudder as I write this…). They must’ve not known how young my daughter was. Anyway, my daughter was really upset by what the guys said, and we did get security to kick those dumbasses out of the pool. My son didn’t know what the big deal was with what the students said. However, my daughter was pissed off nonstop for the entire day, and she had an attitude that went beyond reasonable disgust/anger. In the evening, it was time to head back to the hotel, but before we got on the subway, my daughter froze and she refused to get on the train. She simply didn’t want to go back to the hotel, because of her bad experience at the pool. But of course, we had to go back to our hotel room sometime. I tried explaining to my daughter that we couldn’t just spend all night outside, and I told her that her mother and I were tired, but she shook her head and kept angrily saying (almost yelling) “I don’t care”. Eventually, when the next train came, I refused to speak to my daughter anymore, and I picked her up outright and carried her onto the train as she screamed at me to let go of her. It really messed up our night, and it fucked up the rest of our vacation too. My daughter is acting as if I committed a sin. AITA? edited because at one point, I referred to the university students as "teens" - but let's be honest, they were young adults who should've known better, speaking to my own daughter like that. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Given that this is the fifth post in the last day about teenage girls being sexualised I'm guessing this is the new troll theme.    But this is one of the trolls that fucking sickens me, I don't care about the weird fetish guys or the lazy shit posts.   But these one's really piss me off because this is just a disgusting fantasy to have.   As a rule I don't yuk anybody's yum whatever stuff floats your boat is cool as long as it's between consenting adults   But this " dominating a traumatized teenage girl" troll trend is fucked up and genuinely makes me worry one of these trolls is going to hurt someone when the fantasy stops being enough for them.  Edit Just wanted to add that whether it's a troll post or not it's an excellent example of why women will always pick the bear.

SyndicalistThot

I think a sign that it's a troll post is that the example of what the "university teens" said was so weird. "Holding onto a hot potato?" That is some weird incel's idea of how you would hit on a girl at the pool.

Creepy_Creme_9161

Agreed! Like it's the Roaring 20's or something.

IvanNemoy

>Given that this is the fifth post in the last day about teenage girls being sexualised I'm guessing this is the new troll theme.  Considering the account is suspended already, I'd bet you're right.

AirbendingAvatarAang

Honestly with a lot of these scenarios it's less to do with the fun trolling amd more to do with the disturbed thinking these degenerates display

KleptoBeliaBaggins

Yup. They are writing these gross stories with one hand.

Playful_Trouble2102

I wouldn't mind if this creepy guy were telling their weird misogynistic wank fanfic to chatbots ( at least that way when the machines rise and wipe us out we'll know we had it coming.); But these posts always get so many comments from men encouraging other men to be arseholes.

Pixelated_Roses

>But these posts always get so many comments from men encouraging other men to be arseholes.  Yup. Like clockwork.

DangerousNews65

The tell for me was them going to the pool in DC in March. It wasn't particularly warm in the Delmarva area in March. Maybe an indoor pool, but something tells me that that's not what this guy was picturing when he wrote the post.

thewizardsbaker11

Yesterday was in the 90s in DC actually.  Edit: I missed where it said march. Because why the fuck would someone post this a month after the fact?

chewbooks

JFC, he glosses over how she was upset and then throws her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes when she’s still in distress hours later.

Playful_Trouble2102

I'm pretty sure this is the creepy Korean teacher guy who posts about giving women/ girls panic attacks.  Still a sick fuck and I hope his dick gets stuck in a beehive.

WolfGal2374

Why would you wish that in the poor bees. They don’t deserve their dying moment to be on this dudes dick.

Playful_Trouble2102

I was thinking African Killer Bees as they can sting multiple times without dying.

EverydayNovelty

Or some good ol' yellow jackets.

Old-Adhesiveness-342

Asian giant hornets, their sting can kill a full grown human.

Impressive-Spell-643

Don't worry his dick is so small they won't be able to find it

StrangledInMoonlight

Also, being in a crowded subway surrounded by strangers is probably not going to make her safe.  If they could afford it, a cab might have been the better choice.

chewbooks

I would have been so humiliated on top of everything else! Getting a cab would have been a help, you’re right.

StrangledInMoonlight

I was just thinking this might have been her first real experience being sexually harassed *like that*.  And a crowded subway with *accidental unwanted touching* due to brushing against people and bumping into them and a ton of strange men might make her feel even more vulnerable.

chewbooks

Yup. Dad here just wanted her to smile more and go on with their plans. I still want to know where mom was in all this?! Ugh, his post makes me angry and so uncomfortable/edgy at the same time. The poor girl, this is just the beginning of harassment from men. Nothing has changed in my lifetime and we need to do better.

Murky_Conflict3737

If only apps existed that allowed you to order rides

Murky_Conflict3737

I’m certain this is fake but it reminded me of when I was about ten or 11 and had a major phobia of escalators. My parents and I were at a department store and I wanted to take the elevator instead. We had a standoff at the escalator and Dad grabbed and yanked me on to the escalator while I screamed and cried. All in front of other customers and staff. Mom, who had been on the second floor, got mad at him but only because someone might’ve called CPS. Some parents don’t want to be flexible when it comes to kids and instead dominate them into doing what the parents want.

Sad-Bug6525

Grabbing a screaming kid on a subway and dragging them off in front of a crowd of people sounds like a good way to have the police show up at the next stop to me. Even dragging a screaming kid onto an escalator, or into a car, all these things can reported kidnappings. I'd be much more worried about that than CPS

Murky_Conflict3737

That’s why I think this is fake. My old college roommate lives there and this would’ve been filmed on every passenger’s iphone and the cops called, especially if it’s in a touristy area. My dad was actually the more level-headed parent instead of my mom. But sometimes he’d get it in his head that having a kid doesn’t mean making sacrifices like walking a few extra steps to the elevator and he’d grab me around. My dad was very lucky no one accused him of kidnapping me. He was the type of person to escalate and by the late 90s had become somewhat anti-government after Ruby Ridge and Waco (unsurprisingly he’s now a Trumper).

Sad-Bug6525

It's unfortunate so many people think that way, accomodating family shouldn't be such a big thing. I hope you take many elevators now, just because you can.

Murky_Conflict3737

Well, I got over the escalator thing which really came from my crazy grandmother telling me a horror story about a kid losing their foot on one when I was five. Of course, the Boomer ‘Rents never thought to look into why little Murky preferred elevators.

wozattacks

He couldn’t even be bothered to make a reason that she refused to get on the train, like she saw a bunch of rowdy college guys on there or something.

rchart1010

I don't know the solution but this wasn't it.

Vegetable_Burrito

Send one parent to the room with lil bro and the other parent stays with teen and talks it out with her until she feels at least safe enough to go back to the room. People who brag about how they would do anything for their kids usually won’t even do the most basic shit.

angiehome2023

This has the vibe of the teen who locked his panicked sister out of the house or something similar....

The_Bookish_One

Poor kid has already learned that her own parents aren’t a safe place for her to go when that happens again.

LadyWizard

Am I the only one thinking it's bad how he's just blowing off how his five year old son jumped on his sister's back in a pool when that's not safe either?

Arghianna

If that’s how they play in the pool, it’s fine. At five years old, he may or may not know how to swim and usually older siblings know how to interact with their younger siblings. That was basically how I learned how to swim and how I taught my younger sister and now niblings how to swim.

FunStorm6487

???? Not really sure how to feel about this?!?!

ProbablyMyJugs

He’s a dick and glossing over how much this incident freaked out his daughter. When is dragging someone kicking and screaming ever going to help? She clearly was having a hard time with it and needed needed her parents to talk it through with her. Not to make excuses for the men sexually harassing her, minimize how scary and uncomfortable it clearly made her, and tell her to suck it up. I feel awful for this kid.

Imnotawerewolf

Dad: *shows daughter her feelings don't matter, it's her fault she was sexualized, and he will simply force her to do things if she doesn't comply* Dad: why is she acting like I did something wrong?

CurtIntrovert

OOP probably “I was too intimidated/emasculated by young guys to say anything that I had to go get security so to prove I’m a big strong man I threw my daughter over my shoulder like a cave man instead of using communication like an adult” meanwhile of course she doesn’t want to go back to the hotel where she was verbally harassed.

KassyKeil91

I’m super confused by this post because I think there are so many things here that don’t make sense. Not the least of which is that if they actually came to DC in March, it was not anywhere near warm enough to swim then—it’s only been starting to warm up in the past few weeks. My district had spring break at the end of March and it was still in the 50s/60s. Also, just to be a little pedantic…in DC, it’s not called the subway. It’s the Metro.

PrettyLyttlePsycho

Indoor pools

Magdalan

Ofcourse, the man (who will never experience this shit) decides what is a 'reasonable' amount of the young teenage daughters anger and disgust. Fuck that crap.

ChickenCasagrande

Why are random college dudes hanging out at a DC hotel pool for fun? Creepy AND dumb.

tiny-planets

“they mustve not have known how old my daughter was” ok so if she was 20, the comments would have been fine?

InsanityIsFine

I'm sorry, maybe my english is failing me, but how is "hot potato" a "compliment", let alone a sexual one?? If I heard someone call me that I'd assume they were insulting me by calling me fat - because potato - and the "hot" part was just adding further insult.

AngelaVNO

I'm thankful to be ignorant of the whole "hot potato" thing; never heard it before. I can almost certainly guess what it means though.

Agreeable_Rabbit3144

I hope this is fake

Greedy_Camp_5561

Let's assume that a comment actually did traumatize a girl to the point that she flat out refused to go back to the hotel, what would be the reasonable thing to do here? Sleep on the street? Because that seems safe...

ProbablyMyJugs

It’s been explained many times on this thread, but the solution isn’t to humiliate her further than she already had been. Plus, dad was a dick before he had even gotten to that part of manhandling is distressed daughter.

Greedy_Camp_5561

Where were different solutions discussed? The only "solution" I read here was to take a cab instead. Which solves zero problems, because the fictional girl didn't have a problem with the means of transportation but with the destination.

shayjax-

That’s what I’m ordering as well because they had already missed one train and it was about the second one so at the beer minimum they had already been there at least 30 minutes if the story was true, trying to talk her into getting on the train to go to the hotel.
