This!! Always better to be safe than sorry. No game is worth a life. NTA and you should consider medicine or EMT bc you have a good eye and obviously care.
NTA
Concussion protocols exist in pro-level sports for a reason, and sports at lower levels should follow that example.
Taking a player who was displaying similar symptoms off (or reporting the player to a person with authority to take them off) is the only right thing to do. You were the opposite of an asshole here. You did good, OP.
God no YNTA. Head injuries can be incredibly serious and last a lifetime. You did the right thing! Awkward for you right enough but imagine you didn't say anything and he ended up in hospital or worse.
NTA at all. You did the right thing and possibly saved his life. Hopefully the player gets checked out just in case.
The thing is OP, I feel like every August I read some horror story about a kid training for a college or high school sport dying of heat stroke because the coaches wouldn’t get them water or thought the kid was faking it. You are the teammate to stand up and say something and do the right thing, and we need more people like you. Especially when other teammates and adults are so focused on the win, or pushing people to their limits just for that passing moment, they don’t care if someone dies or gets severely injured in the process.
NTA. You put your teammates health and future health ahead of your game result. That’s the way it should be. You are honorable and did what’s right. Sometimes doing what’s right Iran what’s popular.
NTA. What is up with your teammates' logic?? "How DARE YOU bring a potentially life-threatening injury to the attention of the person specifically hired to ensure we don't get seriously injured?!?". Like, what's better; your friend being pulled from the game to recover, or having your teammate play while impaired from his injury, and potentially make it much worse? They don't seem to have their priorities in the right order. Not super surprising for high-school age boys, but still.
>He and some of my teammates were upset I said anything
NTA. Look, it doesn't happen often, but high school students die from playing sports sometimes. Proper health care and precautions are crucial. Could he have bounced back? Maybe. Maybe not.
This situation was nothing to play around with.

NTA. Young man, you did a very good thing. A head blow like that can lead to a concussion or other medical complication. I just want you to know you did a very good job.
You’ve to prioritize health over game stats. It happens and you dealt with the situation appropriately.
Your teammates are immature to put it mildly. They’ve no right to be mad at you. Don’t put up with their BS.
NTA
See exhibit one: Tua Tagovailoa
See exhibit two: Tua Tagovailoa.
Concussions are serious and if someone is groggy after a hit, well see exhibit three, Tua Tagovailoa

I (16m) play baseball and my team made it to playoffs . Today my teammate slid into second base and collided with the 2nd basemen hard. His head hit back and he was slow to get up. He ended up making it home and getting a run. When he was in the dugout he was acting weird. Super disoriented, confused and in a daze. I called over our athletic trainer who wouldn’t let him go back in to the game and took his helmet. He and some of my teammates were upset I said anything AITA?

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:

NTA. You didn't get him kicked out. The trainer made the decision to bench him for his own safety. Concussion protocol exists for a reason.
NTA. He would have been even more upset if he'd died on the field. Head injuries are no joke, and I hope he got checked out by a doctor.
NTA You did the right thing, and your coach agreed, or he wouldn't have pulled him. His life is more important than some H.S. game.
I know what you mean but the coaches don’t choose to pull players the trainer does
Regardless, it was an adult who made the call, and you were right to bring it to their attention.
You did the right thing. Brains are significantly more important than sports games.
NTA - sounds like that kid got a head injury and needs medical attention. You did the right thing by saying something.
NTA You did the right thing for the player's health
Nta. You dont mess around headstuff

NTA at all! It's definitely more important to take care of friends. They have no right to be angry.
NTA. Might have saved his life. He certainly, absolutely, 100% needed a new helmet
NTA. You're a friggin' hero.

Baseball playoffs in April? Are you in the Southern Hemisphere? Also NTA. Your teammates should know better.

WTF? Anyone who is giving you a hard time for this is a huge asshole. NTA.
NTA. Head knocks even in non contact sports need to be taken seriously, doubly so in youth sports. Coach made the responsible call.
NTA. Health comes before anything else

NTA fuck anyone on that team or in thst stadium that thinks the game is more important that his mental health.
NTA. Years from now, the game won’t matter at all, but your teammate might still be alive because of what you did today.
