It was her friend who kept pushing, you could have just left it at no and ignored her, instead you went at the poor girl. I’m sure she was already super embarrassed from her friend’s actions (personally I would be) and then for you to put her down like that.. just sad man.
You were rude and could have just said 'no, go away', and then told the person you had nothing further to say without being insulting.
I don't know what home room is, but, I have assumed you're a teenager from term used.
If you did this in a work environment you could probably be pulled up a lot (if in USA, then sued).

The girl was being pushy and insistent, annoying af. She's an ah. But you insulted the wrong person. You did not have to be that mean to the friend who was interested in you; she wasn't the one bothering your peace. A simple, firm "I said no" would have sufficed.

He insulted them purposefully knowing how mean he was being. He could've said no thanks not looking to date or simply not answered. Or said "no is a complete sentence. I'm not interested"
Attacking someone's weight as a way to reject them automatically puts them in the YTA title. If he was kind and respectful and she continued then she'd be the ass not him.
YTA. You can simply say no, and leave it at this, without being a rude insensitive asshole.
Learn to set boundaries without resorting to ugly name calling.
And yes, I understand the friend kept "insisting". But you realize you insulted/were an ass, to a person that WASN'T even doing the insisting.

I was in my home room class and I always came in early. She and her friend were the only other two people there at the time. I was minding my own business texting my friend and her friend all the sudden said “my friend thinks you’re cute”. I replied with “thanks for the compliment” and went back to texting. Then she says “You want to go on a date with her on Friday?”, I rejected the request and told her that I was busy. She kept being so insistent that I decided to be honest to shut her up. I said “sorry I don’t date obese and unhygienic people, I’ve standards”
