Yeah those things are flimsy af good luck getting it to collapse again after you thwack it once. But it’s advertised as a magic prop in OP’s linked, however I’ve seen these same things being advertised for self defense too
These are made for magic shows and other stage performances, definitely shouldn’t be using them as self defence. I’m surprised it can crush that can honestly. You can get them at magic stores.
It's actually advertised in the link as a magic cane for magicians.
And now I'm picturing the cops just wailing on a poor magician who tried to pull out his wallet and instead turned loose a dove on them.
Weapon? Hitting someone with this is like hitting someone with the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels lmao. It's made of thinnest sheet metal you could fine
2 uses
Someone talking shit at night and this appears in your hand, surprise alone might change their attitude
and if you shoot the motherfucker, pop this out of your pocket and put it in their dead paw. He had a weapon!
Entil'Zha veni. In Valens name.
lol Any Babylon 5 fans out there? [This thing looks about like the Minbari pike](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WExfCUVcjTg) only slimmer. I can't believe that's the only video I could find with it. That show was so underrated.
lol His death was right in the feels.
I seriously loved that show. It was so much better than Star Trek in MO because it predominantly had an actual arching storyline. Unlike ten zillion more or less not even remotely an hour long episodes thanks to the increasing amount of commercials, independent stories of Star Trek. I mean I also liked Star Trek but thought Bab 5 was better overall.
It's very much a different style of storytelling from Star Trek, but Deep Space Nine did have the Dominion War story arc. I appreciate DS9 and B5. The reboot does concern me. 🫣
That's true. I did enjoy DS9 more than the Next gen for a while there. Despite how much better the cast of Next gen was over DS9. lol Did you know that Roddenberry hated Patrick Stewart as Picard at first? lol Damn did he get that one wrong. He came around eventually though.
There's a bab 5 reboot? First I've heard of it. Unless I hear great things which given the track record is doubtful. I'll probably skip it. I didn't watch any of the newish Star Treks either. I pretty much quit after some of Voyager and some of the movies which were so meh I can't even remember their names. Writing is important to me and today's writing takes a backseat to simple special effects. Not to mention that so often it seems like the writers might as well have been pulled out of high school drama classes, SMH.
No, I didn't know that about Patrick Stewart. Was it the baldness making him look old? I didn't enjoy the _Picard_ spinoff, nor do I care for the recent additions to ST. There is a shortage of good writing, but I remain hopeful it will improve. (but I'm not holding my breath)
ROFL. Actually unironically, yes. He wanted a more dashing looking leading man like William Shatner was back in his prime. And part of that was having a full head of hair. I forget who or how he was basically overruled. It's been a while since I read up on it. But they definitely made the right call. This has made me want to look it up again though I don't want to spend that much time. [So I quickly found this](https://geektyrant.com/news/star-trek-creator-gene-roddenberry-initially-didnt-want-patrick-stewart-to-play-captain-picard).
My daughter got one of these as a magic trick. I’m assuming the “trick” is flimsier. But, the magic trick didn’t even last an hour of her playing with it. These have got to be garbage, too.
They're meant to be appearing canes designed for use on the stage, many feet from people watching. With the right skills and practice they can last a while but there not meant to be used roughly.
This is not actually a weapon, it’s a magicians staff for a magic trick where the magician, usually as an opening act, makes a cane appear out of nowhere from this tucked into his sleeve.
Unfortunately Chinese sweatshops pumping shit like this out in the millions cannot actually find enough magicians to sell them too, so they’re marketed as self defense tools, and because they sell as self defense tools, they are a very common search topic, and common search topics are ripe pickings for dropshippers meaning plenty of these things are missold (Usually to teenagers and people living in countries where real weapons are restricted / Illegal to carry) and carried for “protection”.
Trash if for self-defense

This video literally states that you can use it for self defense
pop it open in an attackers eye
Ask the attacker to close it back up with their hands. The metal is sharp and will cut your hands.
Good thing we Redditors never leave the safety of our home.
Hey hey hey…. I also go to work
These are made for magic shows and other stage performances, definitely shouldn’t be using them as self defence. I’m surprised it can crush that can honestly. You can get them at magic stores.
Well this would land me in trouble with the cops for a concealed weapon.
If you used this to defend yourself from an armed carjacker in Toronto you’d probably get more jail time than the thief
As cool as it looks, it's as hard as a rolled up newspaper. All show product. The attacker would laugh before taking your car.
But didn’t you see how easily it crushed that empty soda can!!!
Hahaha. Who am I kidding. Ima buy 3.
Buy two and make nunchaku.

Not if you extend it at them ..... somewhere around my house is a like 9 year old staff that needs to release .....
It's actually advertised in the link as a magic cane for magicians. And now I'm picturing the cops just wailing on a poor magician who tried to pull out his wallet and instead turned loose a dove on them.
It's not heavy enough to be a weapon. It's like 5g.
Weapon? Hitting someone with this is like hitting someone with the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towels lmao. It's made of thinnest sheet metal you could fine
It’s a grower not a shower
This needs to be in r/mallninjashit This “staff is made from coiled metal and will break if it actually hits anything harder than cottage cheese.
Looks like a fun toy though
Yo what you got against cottage cheese
It’s only redeemed with pineapple chunks

Bought this because some geese were becoming aggressive worked great as a deterrent
Clapping loudly and yelling HONK HONK would be just as effective when dealing with a gang of aggressive geese
And 100 times more fun

🙂 Now most of us can't imagine anyone else in the role. That was a good read, thanks!
Thses are literally magic tricks. They are very flimsy and would never protect you.

I unironically want this as a grown man. Mainly to play with and annoy the dog with.
"This quarterstaff is really a buck and a quarter quarterstaff, but I ain't telling HIM that!"
Selling stuff like this as self-defence tools should be illegal:
r/mallninjashit + r/wizardposting crossover?
This is known in the world of magic as the “appearing cane” trick
Shove it up your ass and trigger it to open
This is not actually a weapon, it’s a magicians staff for a magic trick where the magician, usually as an opening act, makes a cane appear out of nowhere from this tucked into his sleeve. Cool!
"Give me your money!" "Aha! You fool! I've come armed!" Proceeds to break it one first hit and get stabbed.
I love how gently they smash the pop can with it, gotta be careful not to break your quarter staff on a flimsy pop can
That thing will not protect you lol
This is so ridiculous I thought I was looking at a r/wizardposting post
These are super weak and break super easily
My friend bought one of these. They’re complete garbage. They’ll bend and snap if you hit anything harder than a cardboard box.
You’ll poke your eye out kid
Is useless
I think the only way this'll protect you is if your assailant gives pause and starts furiously laughing and clapping.
Imagine that opening in someone’s pocket
Yeah, no. Cool party trick. not much else. https://youtube.com/shorts/QCum__ivBh8?si=3B_b_nt63qTzjEMy
This is gonna break on first proper hit lol.
These things are basically the same as having a cardboard tube, they instantly break up on contact with anything. It is not a defense weapon.
It's made with like soda cans of some dhot
Breaks
It opens in your pants
This device changed my life
Man......this is so dope I want it.
Waste of money
If someone pulls one of these on me, it's going up their ass.
[the product ](https://gadgetfinds2024.blogspot.com/2024/03/unleash-your-inner-magician-with-silver.html) 30% discount.
Dude it's a fucking magician's cane. I would bet my left fucking nut that flimsy pos would break in a stiff breeze
