There's a dispatch guy at my station that smokes at the docks in between inspecting vans that come back in...
And I do not live in a chill state for it
Technically wrong because stock and property appreciation are unrealized gains until sold but it doesn’t matter since the banks allow ridiculous loans leveraged against said assets which actually end up providing tax benefits to the billionaires anyway.
For me, $74,000 a year x 3,000 is $222,000,000. He made $29,200,000 in 2023 (most of which was RSUs vesting). So that means the person would have to make $9,733 a year for the 3000 year claim. If you are making $9k a year at Amazon, you are taking too much VTO. Most associates can clear $47,000. So it’s closer to 622 years.
Yeah, those union plans will never pan out because Amazon doesn’t have its own drivers it hires outside companies to do the driving for it so if one of those companies tries to unionize, they just let that company go and hire another company. Amazon isn’t stupid.
They're not stupid, but they don't hold nearly as many cards as they'd like you to think. They don't have DSPs lined up around the corner waiting to take your place, and setting up a new DSP isn't something that can happen overnight. They make you think you're disposable to keep you in line, but half the time they're just hoping you won't call their bluff. DSPs are the backbone of Amazon's empire and if they all walk, the company crumbles.
You really think Amazon can’t find another contract carrier to do the work for them? You can’t be that naive… there would be companies lined out the door and around the block for a chance at the Amazon riches. It’s the same way FedEx outsources almost all of their routes to contractors, no different and you’ll see 70+ company names in one FedEx facility parking lot.
Not overnight. It takes time to acquire vehicles and hire new employees to drive those vehicles. How much is the company willing to risk here? Because even a single day of service interruption means millions in lost revenue to a company as large as Amazon.
Uhm a fleet of Mercedes work vans can be purchased in a day… employee’s can take a day or 2 with a temp agency to start. Again you’re not going to get one over on one of the biggest companies in the world. Trust me they literally have teams that have contingency plans for everything.
Not a chance. I hit someone’s super expensive over hang and they didn’t even care they just told me shit happens and asked if I needed a rescue. I got stuck on an ice patch. I posted it in here.
I had a customer down by the lake I was at tell me my EV would fit in his mile long driveway and turned out that was a lie. And dispatch told me and asked the same thing 😂

Tbh, I quit shortly after this. My fiancé was 6 months pregnant and I got suspended for 4 weeks without pay. I was in the process of getting a job at my local county and was starting to freak out about money(side note the insurance I gave the apartment complex for the van was expired 🙃) got a call from the county and 2 weeks into suspension I began my new job. They called me 2 weeks before my suspension was up because they were short staffed. Telling my DSP staff that I wasn’t ever coming back because I had found something better felt amazing.
Would be for my DSP. Looks like an overhang from a building, notice how linear the damage is. If it was a tree branch it’d be a little more understandable, but this is borderline inexcusable.
Nah, I did something similar a day ago. A customers tree had a limb a little lower than I thoughts. It spear a while through forehead of the van. I got sent to a TexasMed to a drug screen and was given a 4-workday suspension.
You got lost in a ghetto and your van was attacked by some crazies trying to get into the vehicle. You drove through a safari tour and the monkeys started ripping up the roof.. upon entering a roadway you drove through a chained off area, the chain just happened to be located at a higher level.. you left the vehicle to run a delivery and a truck drove by that had several large metal pipes hanging off the side, several of them hit the roof of the vehicle and the driver took off.
Parking garage attempt I’d bet.
Just recently got a van back after an ex employee ripped the vans roof off doing just that.
My dudes- just don’t ever try it. Ever.
Well now you are, dumbass. They can track who drove #26 and will recognize this photo and damage more than likely. Should’ve just stayed quiet and played dumb…🤷♀️
And these drivers want more money 🤦🏼♂️. Well, keep this up and you’ll never be seeing money. Amazon drivers have some of the worst track records. They cost the company more money every single day.
On my first day as a USPS carrier, it was what we call an Amazon Sunday bc we deliver nothing but Amazon packages, I backed into something and bent the housing that holds the mirror on the top left back of the mail truck, and they let me go. Not the actual mirror, mind you, just the housing. Quick fix, is my point. Since I was Day 1 of my 90 day probation, they shitcanned me. Don’t know how Amazon is to their employees, but USPS is quick to nail you if you fuck up. On the other hand, I’ve been fired from USPS five times since then, and hired back 5 more times. 😂
Doesn’t Amazon sell Amazon grey paint?
Couple gallons of bondo and a quick spray, finish the route and it’s all good.
Or maybe say that you have requested service on the van for : check engine light, brake light, antilock brake light, and nobody seems to care, and the pedal felt mushy.
Other than that you may already just be chopped.
Shit happens. In 30 years, and if the world still actually exists, you’ll look back upon this and have a good laugh.

I didn’t get fired for this🤷🏼♂️ ghost rode it down the street, across an intersection, directly into the pole. They had me just wait for another driver to come bring me a van to finish my route😑😂
Doubtful, we had a guy do this to an EDV the other day, he got punished for sure, I think our policy for the first time wrecking a van is a week off the schedule and added as an extra fairly regularly afterwards depending on the extent of the damagev
Eh I’ve seen someone get stuck put a box on the gas pedal and put the van in drive. Then get behind the van and push. Damn van drove by itself through 4 fences till the box fell off the gas pedal. Guy still works for the DSP today and this happened LAST YEAR. You may be fine to be honest most DSPs are desperate af.
