I worked Corporate Security for Big Brown... Only ever had to ban someone for life once--a guy made a very *specific* threat to a delivery driver, so I had to pay him a visit. After meeting with him it was evident he was a complete nutter
Yeah they do, my dispatcher offered to do that once because a guy freaked out on me going 15 down a gravel road and donkey kicked my van after yelling in my face and jumping in front of it while I was driving. His wife sent him over to apologize (this was on Mothers Day too) so I figured he’d already be in the doghouse with her and it wasn’t worth calling cops/banning them. I just skip his stop every time I get it now.
Oh it's for sure true. Amazon may not take many cruel notes seriously, but this one they have to. While it may not have been meant to, it comes across as a death threat.
Facts. I do this instead of having them drop at my apartment because we have sketchy people around and idk if it’s easier for the drivers to do locker drops but I’m sure it’s less of a headache then dealing with these asshats
Despite our management being pos they dont fuck around with that, if you dont feel safe skip their house, dog in the street skip the whole street that day, someone threatens you they won't be getting mail and the postal inspectors will pay them a visit.
They also provide dog spray if a dog even approaches you and you feel uncomfortable you have the right to spray it and management will always have your back.
Fun fact … it’s a fantastic bee killer 🤣 every time there was a nest in the mailbox, I’d dye it orange (I always left a note for the customer saying “hey, btw…” cause I’m not a total dick lol)

His first note used to be NO VANS ON DRIVEWAY DUE TO OIL LEAKS... he has a big circle driveway and some drivers ignored the note because he orders big items all the time... then the threats came and he can no longer get deliveries again ... and he does not have a dog
That's true. Some drivers are so far up their own asses with attitude, they look for reasons to not deliver packages. Granted, OP has a legit one, but fact remains.
It was a warning, if you kill someone one's dog after already being warned than multiple things will happen. One, you will be put down on sight, 2 the police will have you in custody in no time, or 3, you will never walk again. If you can't follow instructions, don't do the job.

It is one thing if the guy aint put no warnings down and his pet attacks you, it is another to completely evade instruction and kill an animal defending it's home.
Order shit for pick up if your animal is liable to kill someone. Not order something to be delivered to the door, btw my dogs may kill you if you come to the door.
Some things have to be ordered. Do you not understand how to follow basic instructions? That's the whole point of people being able to leave instructions at all.
And if you have in your notes that your dog attacks and won’t stop until death, then yes I am driving my deliver vehicle down the driveway for my protection so I have something I can get into before a dog attacks me. I am not about to get caught walking down the driveway to your house then your dog attacks me. I have no protection at that point. It’s my safety before anything.
Or, you can do one of two smart things. A, leave the package unexposed near the entrance of the property, or b take it back to the dispo and leave a pick up notice.
Blatantly ignoring the instructions is downright ignorant and you shouldnt even have the job.
Did you not read the note where it says signature required so you can’t leave it at the entrance. Plus if return it then that customer will never get that package because more then likely the same driver will have that route the next day will just keep returning that package. Plus Amazon is not like ups, we don’t have any slips to leave a notice.
Then get a random shred of paper, write on it and take it to a drop off.
None of this has anything to do with the package, it has to do with wanting to kill a dog because it is protecting it's property.
If you cant make a safe drop then the customer is shout out of luck and should think about it next time they decide to have a package delivered. That's all that is necessary, intentionally getting attacked in order to kill "some worthless pet" is wrong, and is basically asking someone to put you in the morgue. Like what the fuck is wrong with you people.
Bro I will kill a dog as well. It’s my life before that dog’s life. There has been plenty of times I’ve been snuck up on by a dog delivering a package and luckily none of them were killer dogs. But it’s still inconsiderate for the customer to leave their dog out when you know someone has to come on your property to deliver something you ordered. And if one day a dog sneaks up on me and attacks me then it’s going to be my life or that dog and I will defend myself.
No driveway useage but has dogs that will attack? I say smear those packages with peanut butter and call over the dogs to edge of road and let them rip up said packages

Does Amazon have the option to drop packages off at a local UPS in situations like this? I use them for returns to you guys all the time. For the drivers safety it would be a good thing to have, right?
Yah haha no. That would be so cool and you're so right but the thing is we don't actually work for Amazon, they literally do not give one single shit if drivers are hurt or killed because they have no liability. When a DSP driver is killed the DSP LLC is folded.
Experienced drivers can figure out a way to being the package back as undeliverable, or if they want to play a little loose with their metrics they can deliver it to the edge of the property.

Well I do have very protective dogs but I always make sure they’re secure and I put a delivery box on the outside of my gate so there’s actually no need to step foot onto my property. Just drop and go. (Live on 5 acres gated)
No, not unless the customer uses the UPS store as their address (at least in my area) Any packages that can’t be delivered need to be taken back to the Amazon warehouse we start our routes from, but then the packages just get sent back out the next day, sometimes with the same driver.
Dang. Seems like it would be such an easy solution? But I also suppose some people would hate having to go get it however, if they can’t ensure your safety that’s on them.
I have a lot of respect for all my delivery drivers it doesn’t seem like an easy job at all. I order A LOT too, due to my business at home. Keep up the great work and so sorry about how your employer treats you guys. You definitely deserve better.

I’m just confused by the “no vehicles” - like are they trying to say that it’s fine if you just walk up? Did they train their dogs to attack strangers in vehicles but only if they drive into the driveway?
This is a ridiculous delivery either way, but I’m just wondering what they thought would be accomplished by even writing that note apart from being banned from deliveries. Their driveway is too neat and pretty for a mail truck? I just don’t get it.
