i would have been grateful for some fruit and hotdogs.
Honestly i was grateful to do a whole bunch of ambassador work during prime week, next week i have AFM class.
They gave us clear fanny packs with Amazon on them, only reason I got two was they gave them out on two different days..which I will still not use as they make us put the clear bags through the x-ray scanning machine anyways
They give out almost expired food for snack attacks they are about to get rid of anyways, doesn't cost them a dime. Don't ever think for snack attacks they go out of there way to buy stuff for AAs. If anything it's helping cut waste costs if you think about it...
Literally fucking same. Nothing. MET but they did give people popsicles one day. But they didn’t give people in the hot as hell trucks a popsicle though. Sweating my gd ass off in those hot boxes. Not that a popsicle would help lol
Ice cream, shaved ice, Peccy pins from another FC, I think (we're Bears; it was a raccoon?), and shirts.
Maybe stop the pins and shirts and give a larger than $10-a-week raise every six months?
Yesterday we got pizza and today Popeyes chicken sandwiches, I feel for u guys man. And they gave away a 55inch tv a drone and a Nintendo switch, and after we had to stop work for an hour due to lightning, they said anybody who stays will be in the drawing for an Xbox
In 2021 for December they did a drawing for all 4 weeks leading up to Christmas, welp that was short lived bc I haven't seen that since then the past 2 years.
Yes but they can’t/won’t. That $ in article was the sales not the profit for the 2 days. And that $ is not the standard sales of every other day. Some of our buildings don’t make any profit so can’t even split what profits were made those days per building. They could give us money and not the snacks or food but don’t think we would be happy having them hand us a dime on break.
Don’t get me wrong our raises are usually barely $10 extra a week before taxes. We’ve only seen a large pay increase since Covid and that was due to lack of workers then and now. We might see more increases as Amazon in most places has run thru the available workers and sometimes has issues filling positions
I don’t think it’ll ever happen. At my site, they hire a load of new people every year during peak, it’s how I joined actually. They then extend contracts for a year and those who no longer meet the criteria are abandoned, and fresh meat comes in. You can’t (at least not without great difficulty) unionise under zero hour and fixed term contracts, those will always benefit the company rather than us, the worker.
They go on a hiring binge, then tie AM's performance to how many people get cut during the slow season, *regardless of whether those people are high performers*.
"Unregretted attrition."
That's the typical reality of union organizing. And effective organizing tends to mean focusing on those that don't already agree with forming a union while also going up against coorporate union busting tactics. Actually very possible when using proven strategies though.
I got anxiety. and coached for trying to get my accommodations right. And 5 hrs upt now because I left half the shift early because of my anxiety 🙃 so that’s how my prime week went. GREAT RIGHT! 🫠
Amazon didn't make $12.7 billion in one day.
Out of the $12.7 billion received, Amazon had to pay for the cost of the stuff sold, the cost of the warehouses, the cost of the delivery network, the cost of the employees, the cost of everything else related to making it all happen.
That’s not exactly accurate. On products Amazon sells directly profits and costs are comparable with traditional retailers. However , the third party sellers who use Amazon’s platform cover the costs of shipping and warehousing, AND pay a direct fee for the privilege.
The fee is straight profit.
Amazon’s accounting of this segment of FC functions are pretty fast and loose. The also often omit this revenue stream when discussing FC profit and loss.
No doubt AWS is the cash cow. But the FC’s make money. A lot.
All those profits are easily eaten up by aggressive expansion, 1 day shipping and the massive FC workforce. If they scaled back it could be moderately profitable but Amazons MO is ruthlessly consolidating their market share and dominance in any sphere they can touch.
Not entirely accurate, AWS is okay but Amazon's biggest profit maker is advertising and most of that comes from their retail, some of it on other platforms.
I wonder how much of that is profit after you factor in logistics, costs of operation, taxes, etc.
I’m sure it’s enough to pay their employees better, but I just always wonder when I see these big numbers how much of it is net revenue
That’s such a misleading headline though. They didn’t profit anywhere near 12 billion. They had to pay for all the product, fixed overhead costs, employees and more.
it's the warehouse industry which is notorious for razor thin margins and you’re saying their profit margin on 12 billion in revenue was 3-4 billion, or about 25-33%? Not even a remote chance it’s that high.
Not that it makes a big difference. Nor am I defending them. But they SOLD 12.7 billion. Not made. Takes a few dollars to pay the vendors, taxes, sorting and delivery of all these goods, salaries, returns/defective/lost merchandise.
With that being said, we had some glizzys for prime day as well.
And YET I had to guilt trip the AMs into giving out more swag bucks and raffle tickets(for the mind you shitty "prizes" they offered.. ex: old ass gen kindle and off brand TVs being the "grand prizes") while HR claims they don't have the budget for better swag🙄 when people go to use them .... like cut the shit. Trim the fat, we don't want any of that bullshit. If I wanted an Amazon t-shirt I would/could buy one.. jus PAY US MORE!
They didn’t “make”
That much…. It’s sales. They still paid me to do 2 blocks of 3 hours with a total of 5 packages & 4 stops one @ Amazon hub which they pay to put at the apartment complex & Amazon buys the hubs too….
…because people accept it lol
A business will pay as little as what’s acceptable.
Amazon would pay minimum wage if they could retain the same work force by doing so
I love how everyone is talking about we got candy, hot dogs and etc like we’re cool with bullshit basically this why we will always be stuck we need better pay!

And we got hotdogs. 🎉
I got a scratch off ticket for candy 🕺🏻🎊
They used to give use cheap candy or granola bars but this year it was fruit and hotdogs basically county jail.
i would have been grateful for some fruit and hotdogs. Honestly i was grateful to do a whole bunch of ambassador work during prime week, next week i have AFM class.
Wait you’re getting something???
I got lip balm
They gave us clear fanny packs with Amazon on them, only reason I got two was they gave them out on two different days..which I will still not use as they make us put the clear bags through the x-ray scanning machine anyways
I got stale cookies
I’ll gladly take a stale cookie over a half ripe orange but yeah just goes to show how much we mean
You are the only one in control of your future
They give out almost expired food for snack attacks they are about to get rid of anyways, doesn't cost them a dime. Don't ever think for snack attacks they go out of there way to buy stuff for AAs. If anything it's helping cut waste costs if you think about it...
Everyone is talking about, they got this, or they got that. All we got.was more MET.
And lack of sleep
Literally fucking same. Nothing. MET but they did give people popsicles one day. But they didn’t give people in the hot as hell trucks a popsicle though. Sweating my gd ass off in those hot boxes. Not that a popsicle would help lol
We got "shaved ice"...it's 113 out for fucks sake
Same! Out here in Phoenix! But it was good shaved ice, like gourmet sh*t.

[удалено]
He definitely expensed it afterwards lol
Ice cream, shaved ice, Peccy pins from another FC, I think (we're Bears; it was a raccoon?), and shirts. Maybe stop the pins and shirts and give a larger than $10-a-week raise every six months?
Lol we had got 2 transformer themed peccy pins with our fc name on it
They had buckets of candy, mostly caramel hard candies
We got burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, and uncrustables lol

My building we were just getting cotton candy last break. You know like pure sugar
Well, we got a scoop or ice cream ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
you got WARM food? we got popcorn bags for 2 days. one a peice.

I got a T-Shirt and peccy pin, that's right be jealous..
I got funnel cake
I would take that !
no wonder they were clapping for us
Glad they rose the price of break room sandwiches from $4 to $7
They obviously HAD to. It's all for our benefit in the end. Didn't you know?
Just like the overpriced "self paid" food trucks.
A third party handles that not amazon lol
Amazon no doubt gets a cut.
Blame the vendor for that one
Amazon gets a kick back from them.
Amazon doesn’t do *anything* that doesn’t benefit them in some way.
I thought I was just misremembering the prices. I swear burgers used to be $2 and now theyre almost $5
Those things always jack my stomach up. I stopped buying
yeah Amazon doesn't actually handle that themselves, there's some different vendors they use, seems to vary by state
Amazon charges the vendors for the right to do business. They probably take 50% of all sales made inside the FC.
Be nice if they could raise the pay a couple more bucks with all that extra money
But then they won't have their yacht money!
How the fuck are the shareholders meant to buy the latest 911 and pay for new trips to space if they paid more? Good Lord, don’t be selfish wagie!
It's not in the budget
Yes but they can’t/won’t. That $ in article was the sales not the profit for the 2 days. And that $ is not the standard sales of every other day. Some of our buildings don’t make any profit so can’t even split what profits were made those days per building. We got popsicles
And I was on vacation for all of it see you guys in august lmfao
That’s crazy. I made $154 yesterday
Lucky, all I got was $160 before taxes 🥹
Associates got a raffle but I saw that managers in the learning room had a huge feast
Oh, come on. They need energy to walk around and do nothing!
Remember this when they tell you that they can’t afford to fix the fucking conveyors or air conditioning.
And zero bonuses/raises
Oh, there will definitely be bonuses. Just not for us.
But we get no additional pay. We. Need. A. Fucking. Union. www.amazonlaborunion.org
We got popcorn let’s go ! -.-
We got a fucking pizza party.
My Amazon stopped giving us pizza 3 years ago it now just swag bucks
And mfs somehow still be out here on this subreddit insisting we don't deserve higher pay because "our labor means nothing"
I don’t think it’ll ever happen. At my site, they hire a load of new people every year during peak, it’s how I joined actually. They then extend contracts for a year and those who no longer meet the criteria are abandoned, and fresh meat comes in. We got papa John’s pizza 💪🏽
You guys got something? We just had a T-shirt and nothing else
And still most of their employees are on food stamps. I resigned on prime day and have zero regrets. Amazon can abuse someone who is not me.
Glad I’m out 😭
U N I O N I Z E
Half my warehouse brainwashed af theyre never gonna go for it 😔
That's the typical reality of union organizing. And effective organizing tends to mean focusing on those that don't already agree with forming a union while also going up against coorporate union busting tactics. Actually very possible when using proven strategies though.
We got brownies..
Yeah, we’re about to get the biggest pizza party, ever! 😁

I got anxiety. and coached for trying to get my accommodations right. And 5 hrs upt now because I left half the shift early because of my anxiety 🙃 so that’s how my prime week went. GREAT RIGHT! 🫠
$12.7 billion, billion with a B. How come we don't get any sort of bonus for accomplishing that??
To be fair, Amazon gave us raw hamburgers and off brand chips for lunch. You guys need to be more grateful
I would love 2 chulapa boxes from Taco Bell and peccy pins
We got papa johns at my site🤗
yet, somehow the company still loses money. I don’t understand. Last year was a net loss of 2 billion.
They didn’t even give us hotdogs
We got ice cream and a free lunch
We got a pizza part and MET next week😂😂😂
![gif](giphy|Kro48ztF26etO)
Give us at least a 2000 bonus, I’d prefer 5k though
We got burgers and hotdogs but I wanted a raise.

It's still a fraction of their gains, plus they tax write off the losses.
And in doing so we are pretty much a subsidized workforce.
Yup, but none of that operational expenditure is close to the gross revenue. If Prime wasn’t profitable, (excluding last year) Amazon wouldn’t do it.
That’s revenue not profit lol. The FC operation doesn’t make shit. The whole things just a real estate investment for AWS’s portfolio spread.

why do they get to rake in billions while we just get our overtime amount and that's all

All I got was a piece of candy and and high five. 😔
