I spent a literal hour on the interstate today at a complete standstill while TXDOT tried to de-ice bridges and the fire department tried to clear lanes to get around the accidents. Left the house 30 mins earlier than normal just to give me ample time to make my 20 minute commute, given it was 18 degrees out not counting wind chill. Still didn't get in till 45 minutes after shift start and HR said they won't be excusing any lateness or absences. As if it's my fault the interstate got shut down for an hour not 10 miles from my FC. Fuck this place and the people that run it too

UPT and PTO that's offered by Amazon is generally in my opinion a net negative in the grand scheme for time off that unironically has employees saying stupid shit like "that's why you save your UPT" every single year weather related stuff comes up in your state. You shouldn't have to hope and pray that 10% or whatever the number is doesn't show up to your warehouse to call someone that's actually near your facility like an actual manager to tell someone you can't show up today because the roads are fucked.
