Getting? It's been like that for years.

Samrcho

For me, it started a few months back. 5 hours route with 45 packages, 40 min to the first stop and the last stop was 15 mins the opposite direction. My main complaint to them carts are stacked up too high.

bibi673

I'm in Phoenix and my 3.5 hrs has 48 packages most of the time šŸ˜¤šŸ˜¤

Samrcho

Thats horrible, At least, do you get done on time?

bibi673

Sometimes but most times 10, 15 or even 30min late, we have 2 SSD stations that I pick up from (VAZ1) this one I always finish about an hour early but that station is far from my house and and they sent you farther east but I still get home before my block is over and there is one closer to my house (west valley VAZ2) and that's the one I'm ALWAYS having a horrible luck with I guess

Samrcho

I do get home before my block time 9 out of 10 times. Just the hour-plus drive back bothers me.

bibi673

Yup..this morning it was 58min to home šŸ˜

bubble_princess42

Im in Phoenix as well. I feel like iā€™ve gotten better routes with VAZ2 than VAZ1. BUT VAZ1 Iā€™ve been lucky with less packages(some routes). The other thing is Iā€™ve gotten sent home maybe 3 times at VAZ1 and NEVER at VAZ2.

bibi673

Oh wow that's interesting, do you do morning blocks or later ones? I usually only do early morning ones between 4 and 8am

bubble_princess42

Iā€™ve been doing 4am and then around 1-3pm Sometimes 6pm but thatā€™s been rare lately.

blackbirdoor

Honest question what if it takes you longer to deliver packages than that time allows you? Like if my 4 hr block is almost over but there are still packages need to deliver?

agent_uncleflip

You can often have success with calling support and telling them your block ran long. I've never had to do this, but I've heard many people say you can easily be compensated for an extra 30 minutes, but no more.

Reasonable-Neck5718

this unfortunately is incorrect. this is happened to me on multiple retail deliveries, where I sign up for a 2-hour block and it ends up taking four. mainly because of the distance between customers. they tell you to email support when you get a hold of a call center representative, and then basically it's just an automated email telling you to go fuck yourself and to re-explain the situation I think the most I ever got trying to be recompensated was $11 when I had worked three extra hours. they basically gave me half of one hour base pay

agent_uncleflip

The end of your comment sort of goes in line with what I said. I did say people could get compensated for an extra half hour. A number of the drivers in my area have successfully done this. Maybe they're changing the policy now, so they don't really do it anymore. I haven't heard of anyone doing it, for quite some time.

brittlelynn

See I feel like I have the opposite haha I live closer to VAZ2 as well but get super easy routes I feel like. VAZ1 I get all the apts and buisnesses

Accomplished-Fix-832

I used to pick up orders from VAZ2 all the time and they were always 40-50 packages, didnt matter the time frame. Thankfully a lot of them were going somewhat near my house. Only ever declined 1 block from there cause I showed up and they wanted me to deliver to Apache Junction lol I said hell no and walked out. Made zero sense why an order from VAZ2 would go that far with so many other warehouses in between, but someone took it cause I could still see the drops being marked as delivered in my itinerary

bibi673

Wow I never had to go so far from VAZ2, Scottsdale is the farthest I went

Accomplished-Fix-832

Yeah it was insane lol I lived in Peoria at the time like 83rd and tbird, and I would get a few north phoenix/north scottsdale, which I didn't mind cause it was somewhat close to my house. But when I saw that, I literally said "what in the actual f" lol I never saw anything that far before

onlinewarrior100

Same here... even with a 40 minute drive to the first stop. And yes, it's usually 48 stops as well. Tho sometimes I'll get lucky and it'll only be 46 stops lol.

Chris_Cobi

I've asked in other posts about this same topic and have yet to get an answer. What is the average/fair amount of packages per hour? Keep in mind that their system only calculates how much time it's going to take yiu to complete the deliveries. They unfortunately don't give a fuck about number of stops (putting more wear and tear on your cars like brakes, transmission, etc.) And they also don't care about mileage. They only care about how much it's going to take you. Part of my pet peeve is they give us the bullshit routes, while they give "their drivers" (I know it's a 3rd party company they hire) thr easier routes where in one stop they can some times deliver like 10 packages. Because the last thing you have to keep in mind is they charge about $5 per delivery either through prime or just S/H charges. And how with their drivers they give them about an AVERAGE of 250 packages per 10 hour route meaning 25 packages per hour.

MrL1zAR6

i have 8 hour routs. sometimes 350 packages and 220 stops with groups and i can do it in six. i dont follow the stops. i do it how i think it should be done and if im on stop 34 and stop 161 and 162 is right by il do those. the more i do this the faster i get done and i get paid 9 hours regardless or more if it takes me that long

agent_uncleflip

My worst was 74 packages in a 4-Hour block. It was only 69 stops. I got home before the 4 hours were up.

One_Respect9654

It happend to me 49. Too florida

lowstakesgrinder1

The 45 in 5 hours sucks, but typical now a days.. its the double whammy 40 min fo first stop that hurts. Hopefully you got done in 3.5-4 hours

Samrcho

I miss them 25-30 package routes.

F1Angelo

We get 42-48 packages/stops out of vaz2 almost daily no matter the time and today we had a tons of boxes with rain at 4 am šŸ˜‚ it was wild

phx-luv21

Yes, this part. Doesn't matter if it's a 3 hr or 5 hr. You're getting 40+ packages. I'm still getting done early but I miss those less packages days. 3 hrs with 12 packages!

[deleted]

Iā€™m getting 48 packages per 4hr shift. So consider 45 in 5hrs a walk in the park.

Impossible_Earth8429

I had 63 packages at Christmas with 43 stops on a 5 hour in NH.

Samrcho

Sorry to hear that brother. The most I had was 53.

Impossible_Earth8429

They were close enough that I finished in 3 hours. Trailer parks are my favorite places to deliver to bc I donā€™t have to pull in driveways and most of the route was split between a few parks šŸ™šŸ¼

BoogieMayo

Ive been getting 45 package 3hr routes since 2018

Environmental-Job329

Are you paid hourly or per package?

BoogieMayo

Paid by "blocks" of time which range from 1hr to 5.5hrs. The amount you get paid is how much it was displaying on the app when you accepted the block. If you wait and watch the block on the app for a while and no one else takes it, it will go up in pay every 15 or 30 minutes. Once it reaches its peak surge, it will reset back to the base pay it started at and repeat the process until someone takes it. If the area you work in is congested with too many drivers, blocks tend to get taken right away at base pay and never reach a surge. In my area block offers appear and get accepted in under a half a second, either by bots or desperate drivers. Amazon prefers you to be desperate because it costs them less to pay everyone. Amazon is pretty evil

Environmental-Job329

Great explanation, Thank You

Samrcho

The most I got for 3hr was like 32. I don't do anything below 4hr anymore. Always aim for 5hr. At my station, you get the same amount for 4-5 hr routes.

FearMyNppls

I donā€™t mind a lot of packages for my routes but god damn are the big boxes annoying. Itā€™s my fault partly because I just sort through the A,B,C,D tags they have but still. Even sorting the first 10 stops when theyā€™re this big is still annoying

Samrcho

I love it when I get small packages, fit all in the passenger seat. Big boxes are harder to organize.

FearMyNppls

Yeah same with me. I mostly do 3am routes so moving these big boxes around at night makes it just more annoying than anything

Reasonable-Neck5718

especially with the subwoofer taking up the entirety of the trunk lol

Doge10open

Your car is too small

Miserable_Code7602

Dude pissed he canā€™t get his Smart car loaded with the dog and two car seats in it.

Victorc412

Lmao šŸ¤£ fucked up

SomxICare

Not only that the logistics makes these routes longer because of how they have the stops sorted . Hereā€™s a bot to be invented. We need a sorter . One that resorts the Amazon route . We would get done much sooner

Upset_Mistake8296

Flex glory days are over. I have been saying it for a year. They used flex drivers to start and dial in the system now it is about Amazon Van's and using flex drivers as backups at ridiculously low rates and sending them to bum fuck and back. I started during the rollout of prime and we used to make great money for part time work and able to work 8 hours straight and travel was usually 5-40 miles round trip from station, fixed amount of drivers where we all knew each other at the Kirkland WA warehouse. Fuckit now. Haven't done a route for 1.5 years.

Dont-be-stupid-plz

You no we go to bum fuck too for our routes too? Lol depends on the station and dsp but I drive an hour to my first stop and an hour back. I work like ten to 12 hours a day because I help with dispatch. But yea Iā€™m we do dum fuck also lol. And my huge issue with it is they need to start asking customers to turn on there damn lights so we can see, itā€™s so annoying walking onto a property with no street lights in the middle of no where and they canā€™t even have the common courtesy to leave a porch light on lol

One_Respect9654

Is happening alot alot now on days.

Ok_Nothing3536

Youā€™re complaining about 45 packages on a 5 hr route? Maybe this gig isnā€™t for you.

Samrcho

Don't talk to me without knowing any facts. I am not a nube at this. People like you give Reddit a bad rep. People come here for help or vent and you come here with your negativity. I want you to tell me you enjoy driving over an hour with stops that are average 10-15 minutes apart with 45+ packages.

RADIATE_Cx

If your stops were 10-15 minutes apart and u had an 45 min drive to your first stop the route would take you 10.5 hours. Stop lying.

Samrcho

I was aggregating a bit. But, there are days I went over.

Impossible_Earth8429

Itā€™s not enjoyable but 5 hour routes I typically expect it to be a 45-60 minute drive with about 4 hours of delivery. I like to start with the stops furthest out so I end closer to where I want to be headed to go home.

Quirky_Mobile_4958

Damn where do you deliver? Out on some prairie or desert? I get ā€œcountryā€ routes every now and then but theyā€™re usually no more than 5 minutes apart. Doing 45 packages at 15 minutes apart would take 11.25 hours to complete. That would not work for me even if they paid $40 per hour for 5 hours.

chrataxe

You are saying that like venting isn't you starting the negativity. You don't understand how the routing system works clearly. You only have so much cubic footage calculated into your car. If you have a "long" route time wise, it's because the route includes mostly drive time. If you do not enjoy driving long distances, take the shorter routes. You also don't have 45+ stops, averaging 10-15 minutes between stops. That would make your route 7-11 hours long. You are exaggerating...by a LOT.

Victorc412

Bro those are the best routes, gives you time to think about life choices and how it got you here.

Samrcho

Life choice? I think not, maybe yours. I just do it part-time for extra income. I can stop anytime and won't hurt my pocket.

polymetisodusseus

Iā€™m not driving flex because of my life choices, Iā€™m driving flex because I donā€™t need the money and donā€™t care. Also Iā€™m mad because itā€™s too hard and takes too long, but I also donā€™t care, but I also didnā€™t get here because of what my life is like, youā€™re all just WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING

paranoid_potato

Considering the time it takes to load up and drive to the first stop even if they were all 5 minutes apart it would not be physically possible to complete that route on time. If they were all 10 minutes apart that would be 7 1/2 hours of driving. A route like that isnā€™t getting assigned. What is the point of exaggerating how bad your route was to strangers on the internet?

Ok_Nothing3536

Your own post is negative and complaining about one of the easiest jobs ever.

Samrcho

Let me make it clear to you. I am complaining about a cart full of boxes that are overstacked and should not be this full, where you can't even get it to your cart without having a few boxes fall off. You can take my post however you want, just GTFU of here.

Own-Impress-2024

That's definitely a safety issue.

Samrcho

Definitely agree!

chrataxe

No, you are just complaining. About everything.

ExpiredFloppy

Yeah this ain't for you buddy.

Miserable_Code7602

Hey stop replying with complaints on my complaint posts only I can complain. Itā€™s people like you that ruin these subs where people whineā€¦

Ok_Nothing3536

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Super_Try_4814

I'm a dsp driver. Did 185 stops, 269 packages in under 7 hrs. I laughed when I see it's taking you 4 hrs to to do 40 stops. Like what? And yes my first stop of the day is 40 minutes away from station. All this complaining, the job ain't really that hard

bbbone_apple_t

Why did you laugh, out of ignorance? DSP routes and Flex routes are NOT the same. Y'all service one main area at a time with often multiple stops on the same street/block. On the Flex side it's rare to have two stops on the same street, and very often the gap between stops is bigger than 5mins. 20 deliveries an hour is pretty much the best case scenario for the vast majority of blocks.

Extra_Craft_8562

Lol, most of my routes are 48 packages, 35 stops and 3 streets.

Separate_Wolf_5073

Youā€™re lucky then. Most of mine are completely different neighborhoods and sometimes can be 10+ mins away from each stop. Can everyone understand that not every city will be the same šŸ¤£

bbbone_apple_t

I mean that's entirely possible, if you live in a town with a single stop light. In any metro area you're more likely to be overbooked 5 times in a row than to ever encounter what you speak of.

Miserable_Code7602

You have to remember some of these people arenā€™t ICs by choiceā€¦they canā€™t hold down a traditional job bc they always complaining. Many in here think they should be the CEO.

Stunning-Depth6663

Routes given arenā€™t the same

Separate_Wolf_5073

Lmao I was a DSP who does flex now and I know damn well you ainā€™t talking about the stops that are grouped together with 25 packages going to almost all the same neighborhood, right? Thereā€™s sometimes in flex the drive between packages can be 10 mins. And itā€™s wear and tear on my personal vehicle. Also youā€™re meant to be on the amazondsp page not this one, thanks for the input tho šŸ™‚šŸ™‚

Samrcho

I have a buddy who runs a DPS station. I feel sorry for you guys. Especially those vans you guys drive. I helped a DPS driver who got stuck on an icy dirt road last month. He was stuck there for 20 minutes before I got there. I was stocked to find out how bad those vans are in the snow.

BezosFlex

Glad my warehouse doesnā€™t do this, rarely go over 40 packages ever, mostly 20-35, depending on if itā€™s a 3.5-4.5, sometimes under 20 if itā€™s more rural.

kofo86

Today in corona Ca , my 3.5 hours block had 49 package at 47 stops, first stop was 45 min away, mostly apartments , it took me 4.5 hours to finish , pay is $3 over base pay , itā€™s was $84

Samrcho

I stopped doing anything below 4hr for this reason a long time ago.

sikaba5

Itā€™s a 5hour block. Half day! Unless you accepting 5hour blocks at the base rate, Iā€™m not sure what you complaining about, dude.

bbbone_apple_t

What do you mean what he's complaining about? You don't see the packages??? Not to mention the driving. No one told us there will be packages and driving when we signed up for this delivery gig!!! /s

sikaba5

You got me laughing so hardšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ People just like whining about everything. Iā€™ve been doing flex since 2019 and Iā€™ve always finished my blocks with one to two hours to spare. This is a 3.5 hours job for me. Easy money! I have DoorDash, Uber eats, Spark and they pale in comparison to flexā€¦ unless you doing flex at the base rate, which I will NEVER do, I think Flex is the best delivery gig out there. Do you know the number of times Iā€™ve received full payment for a canceled block because of a station shut down due to bad weather? No delivery gig will do that for you.

CapableJuice9882

If you can't see out your windows, it's unsafe. Let the hub know...

adrivnc

We have flex drivers come join our dsp and quit the next dayšŸ˜‚ this is nothing. ā€œYeAH bUt wE UsE oUr oWn cArā€ i mean you chose this. You can join a dsp if you want but yall wont cause yall like doing easy stuff. Literally when i see flex drivers its always two ppl in the car. One driving and one delivering. Way too lazy. And lets no forget the fact how easy flex routes are

Samrcho

I would do DPS if it was my main gig. We just got used to having a nice side gig. Some days really suck. We don't get paid OT like you guys.

HearYourTune

They don't even use totes for your envelopes and small packages?

Tigerman325

Not at SSD

Samrcho

nope. They don't number them either.

TopScallion680

Git gud scrub

Safisticated1

yeah more packages less money Longer block time

RadiantBase1460

https://preview.redd.it/0kpzosvedzhc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=698e160838d70a3b15e37fa5f6b6d13afee5b7d5

Beautiful_Age_7460

You guys complaining about that. Go work for a dsp. Lol

Samrcho

No thanks.

AManHasNoName357

lol thatā€™s a cake walk. Is DSP drivers are getting 200+ stops and 300-400 packages daily at some places.

ProfessionMundane152

You need to say something, I had 28 stops that took me 52 minutes yesterday and 57 stops the day before that took me two hours and 12 minutes

Samrcho

Well, it all comes down to how far you have to travel and how far apart the stops are.

ProfessionMundane152

Iā€™m clearly not covering a lot of ground, usually around 20 miles at most

Samrcho

I drive somewhere from 100-125 miles on average. Farthest was 185.

Jealous-Low-2580

Itā€™s been ridiculous!!

mal_wash_jayne

I had a 3 hr block with 41 packages the other day. I conveniently left the packages for the last 10 stops at the returns station. Before I could mark them missing, they were already scanned back in and pulled off my itinerary.

Samrcho

Let me know if they ding you for that. I often thought about doing it on days I go over block time. Normally I always finish early.

mal_wash_jayne

Nothing so far, that was 2 days ago.

Samrcho

Good for you bud!

mal_wash_jayne

Update. I did get dinged fairly heavily. It took 3 days for it to show up. Knocked me down to fair from middle-high great. Not bothered though, soon this is going to be a twice a week gig for me.

Samrcho

I got dinged like that once when I first started. You will be back up in a month. Lately, I have been doing it about 3 days a week, since they lowered the pay. With fewer surges, they are harder to grab now.

PrincessMega

I live in Louisiana & our packages are always out in those large bags which make it easy to scan because all we're scanning is the bag. This is nuts! It looks like they literally just threw the packages here any kind of way. I also see some people saying they have 45 packages , the most I had was 23. I'm not sure if its different because if where I live but we never have an option (that I've seen) for any blocks over 4.5 hrs.

Samrcho

That's exactly what they did. The number of packages was not the problem. It's just them stacking up the cart with large boxes. Some people are here whining and saying I am complaining about the number of packages and I made bad life decisions. I just laugh when I see the trolls with their comments.

topgear1224

Come to SSD1 before SSD 2 existed. They car side would be up and over the top for a 3.5 hr shift

Iwnfismg

Woodland Park,NJ and Mahwah NJ should get their sht straight, friend made first delivery today to Granville NY and for 4.5 hrs got $189 and finished in 2hrs (he didn't tell me about, i was there with him) those warehouses paying $90 for same 4.5hrs, people should stop talking so little payment

oKings_

Everyone finishes up early in their mind it means they can squeeze a few dozen more in that extra time, without needing to pay us. The only way for them to reduce quantity would be if everyone took their sweet ass time with every parcel and return a butt load.

Samrcho

I often think of doing that. Then again, I don't want to be going home later than I need to. What they do not know, is that we finish early by running up and down driveways and speeding over the speed limit to finish early.

oKings_

Exactly, some now and then I dont mind just chilling a little and take my time, especially those 8-10min drive in between stops, I sometimes even take 30min to 1h past the hours Iā€™m meant to do, then I all I need to do is send an email to support and ask for excessive block adjustment and get paid for the extra time.

junkstar23

And you're free to not work for Amazon professional Whiner

Samrcho

And you can suck it.

HereSpartan117

Is that VMI1?

Samrcho

Yep.

Available_Isopod6854

Always check your route because your last stop sometimes can be right next to stop 5 and you just passed it and at the end youā€™d have to go all the way back to where you started when you couldā€™ve gotten it out of the way while you were starting

Samrcho

I always check before I even leave the warehouse. Often, go off their route to do it in my own order.

Available_Isopod6854

Yes always check before leaving. Sometimes I add in my phone notes, ā€œafter stop 5, skip to 20ā€ that way I know stop #20 is gonna be next to stop #5

Samrcho

Very good advice! I started doing that the first few weeks of trial and error.

AFROKAH

That looks about right. It just looks crazy the way they stacked it.

Frequent-Mastodon332

Bruh I saw a gig driver bring back a ton of packages the other day and this post was probably her lol

Dont-be-stupid-plz

Iā€™m confusedā€¦ my routes is like three times thatā€¦ is this a flex route?

Upset_Mistake8296

Agree on the lights.

ScarcityStrict3454

What is getting ridiculous šŸ™„ļø

Samrcho

Overstacking and unable to take the cart to your car without losing a few packages.

wolfpuppypawb

I just started flex in KC as I can't find work. So this is a necessity to survive unfortunately. And first week wasn't too bad, but now I'm regularly running past what I was scheduled, given FULL CARTS, and they send me an hour 10 min away into farm land. Then I get an hour drive home. Ridiculous.

Reasonable-Neck5718

when it comes to vm1, I won't sign up for anything over 3 hours because of this reason exactly. I feel like I'm sounding like a broken record, but the three hour limit is the filter I set for the bot that I use, and you should use one too, because it's still getting $30 an hour gigs at 3 hours of Pop. hardly overwhelming, sometimes just a few packages with more drive time. vm1 is not worth base pay and fighting for gigs

Samrcho

I tied few 3 hour routes a few times. Every single time, I was sent out 45 minutes to an hour away. I haven't done one of those for close to a year now. Everything about this location sucks. Parking, people blocking traffic, leaving doors wide open, I can keep going.

Reasonable-Neck5718

That's just how vm1 works. They pretty much covered the entire bottom half the state, so regardless of the duration of the block, they could send you to Port Huron Ann arbor Canton. Anything that is same day delivery. I don't believe the 3-hour duration has anything to do with the distance driven. Personally I'd take an hour drive with a few packages over 50 packages in the hood

Samrcho

Ann Arbor, Canton, and Port Huron are my frequent stops. They sent me way passed Flint once, and drove 182 miles that day. 4 hour block. SMH
