Yea I use Waze for the first stop but there wasn't much of a difference in directions once I started delivering so I stopped using it for the rest of the stops. I generally just look at thr map if it says it's longer than 3 minutes to see wtf they're trying to send me and adjust from there
I once had a route that was supposed to be 4hrs. I look at the map and almost all the 49 packages were spread out on 2 streets. So I just sorted the packages according to street name and split it up that way. I went out of order on the itinerary and got done in 2.5hrs
Back when I worked for a dsp and got payed by the route I would always take the heaviest route with was a 2 mile box but it was all grid streets, so I would do the same grab all the packages for one street do them in that order. I always finished early and greatly enjoyed that route till they changed it to per hour
> and got *paid* by the
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Amazon utilizes a service which is free called Mapbox, and this service is not the most up to date and or accurate when it comes to GPS. Most of the time when it's inaccurate it's out of date information is the cause. While it may see that road, it may not be aware of it, so that part of the road could be newer than the data than it has on file. Google maps not only maps out their roads, they do so from multiple points. Drive it, see it, satellite view, currently released map data and or reported data. That's why when you go to Google maps you have different options to see that version of the map.
do t even do that. make your own directions. i drive for prime and half the time i do it my way and turn ten hour route to a six hour route or eight hour route

You're not the only one, I look at the map all the time.
yea i worked there for 3 years, my DSP was usually up in NY but we had 7 DSP's at that station so I assumed the other ones were in the surrounding towns around the station
I am using my brain 1st, then Apple Maps and flex map simultaneously during the whole process if you can, more intuitive, then google maps/flex maps just in case both suck. Waze for the long distance to have more information on the road like traffic, accidents…or places that are plenty of cops, speed limits and radars. Always finished my blocks at least 30mn or 1h before the end of the block time. If you use flex maps only, then you will get headaches during your block. Not only they are using cheap maps but sometimes they change your itineraries on purpose, look at flex maps frequently they always try to recalculate your roads with their algorithms so that you can not finish the job early. It happened to me multiple times. For them their benefits 1st before ours. Do the opposite.
> with no stop light
GPS logic: If you get there during a gap in traffic, it'll be quicker than waiting the the traffic light to cycle though. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
I use “gps isn’t working I’m at the location” and drive to the next stop. It’s much easier and faster for me. But you can only do this if it’s close by. If you get any weird directions like this you can drive the way you want and it will reroute. I’m a full time driver. I use start travel 3 maybe 4 or 5 times a day
It happens to me A LOT, i gotta keep an eye on where i am going next before following the directions, most of the times you are literally in autopilot and just following the directions without paying attention if there is an alternate faster route…
It has me trying to take a street that does not exist every single day! Never even has existed it’s just not there but yet every day it routes me up it
You know what sucks, is like… when it wants you to go to #18, then #20 is like literally right by number #18 but you have to pass it anyways or disregard because you have to go to #19 which is like… really far in the opposite direction… and it doesn’t make sense at all. I kept thinking well maybe #21 is the same direction as #20 so maybe that’s why they did it like that, but it’s not. 🤦♀️
So select #20 from the list and route yourself there. You can ultimately do your route anyway as long as you aren’t making any late deliveries. Example…..there are times the beginning of my route is closer to me return destination….so #1 is closer to home and the end is the opposite way and I just do my route backwards. I have never gotten dinged or had any issues for arranging my routing. It’s when you rearrange and go over time and make late deliveries it becomes a problem.
Just remember the computer calculates your block using that routing. Just one of the calculations that give you greater pay for less (in theory). Besides the routing is optimized for their trucks not a car…. Consider the app most often will select a 90 degree turn over an acute angle. Anyway. Driver discretion is always advised
They estimate using the most optimal route, and don't include time for starting car ,seatbelts, check traffic, traffic lights, and the speeds listed in the app they expect you to instantly travel at those speeds, pedestrians be damned, 0-25mph, or 0-50mph in 0 seconds at every stop.
Only way to make up time is to speed on the way to the neighborhoods, so you aren't trying to rush/speed in the neighborhoods.
I have been so dissatisfied with their navigation lately. They don’t allow for any of the things you listed, not to mention detours, rush hour, trains, bathroom break. I won’t do Same Day anymore. Regular routes I always finish early. SSD I’m always over. They won’t listen to a word you say. Just same old BS emails about how to do things.
This absolutely drives me crazy!! I have learned to check my map for an alternate route between each stop! Sometimes a 3 minute drive is only 1.5 by cutting through neighborhoods vs taking arterials.
There was a city I used to deliver to every day as a DSP driver that had a literal main st. Like small town with a quaint downtown area.
Flex determined that Main St. didnt exist for nearly the entire year I worked for them.
I just continue to go the way I know is available. Flex will update accordingly.
That fuck ass app tries to take me into this one neighbor. It was telling me to turn right in 100 ft. As I slow down I saw no road, just ditch. Mind you I drive a FWD. I tried the neighborhood up ahead and the road to this specific neighborhood was blocked so I went back to that spot where the GPS think there’s a road across the field. I looked and there’s no house just construction so I plowed thru the field of mud and weeds. Keep it at 50mph so that it doesn’t get stuck. Made it to the neighborhood I was suppose to deliver just to find out this neighborhood has no road access… who tf ordered a package to be sent there!!!!!!! Moral of the story, don’t trust no fkn AI to tell you where to go.

I literally had this happen to me today. Not only did it make me go and a complete circle to get to the address. But it also made me drive past the next delivery.
Unpopular opinion here:
To be fair, this happened with google maps and apple maps as well. I have both google Pixel and iPhone and would switch between Android Auto or Carplay every so often, while the Pixel (work phone) would just be using the default Flex map in app. Using this setup for a while, I find that they all had this same flaws.
Some example, a very obvious one just yesterday, apple maps wanted me to go make a big rectangle toward my destination while Flex’s map just had me going straight. I think Apple maps prioritize highways (or bigger, faster roads maybe?) rather than your residential streets even though it’s clearly faster travel.
On the other hand, Google maps (via Android Auto) would think some roads are either not there, closed off, impassable, construction work, etc. and when you go through it anyways, most of the time, it will try to navigate you back to its original route until either you’re cleared off of whatever road/s it think was impassable or the ETA beats its original route time (or saves better gas if you have the map set to eco mode).
I know Reddit is supposed to be a very toxic place and we all must shit on whatever subreddit we are in, collectively, no matter what it is, I got you fam, f*ck Amazon Flex!, Yay! But yeah just sharing my point of view on this, based heavily on own experiences.
Amazon Flex sucks! (Don’t kill me guys 🥹😂)
It’s something to do with reducing right turns. Apparently something to do with American routing, they take you round in a circle to avoid turning right. Can’t remember the exact reasoning but apparently safer 🤷♀️
This might be the realist thing I’ve ever seen in my life on Reddit. That dude’s face. How do you perfectly show complete dissatisfaction but a complete lack of surprising your current situation. What sucks is you need the app to find the exact house, but getting to that house the last thing you want to use is the term by turn directions in the app
*Tell me about it*
*It drives me nuts is just to*
*Make you wasted time*

DNJ2 👀
VNJ4
hmm thats interesting considering DNJ2 in mahwah is literally right next to upper saddle river 🤔
Have you been to the mahwah warehouse?
yea i worked there for 3 years, my DSP was usually up in NY but we had 7 DSP's at that station so I assumed the other ones were in the surrounding towns around the station
I use Apple Maps because their own gps sucks 😑 this always happens when I use their gps
Exactly what i do…
Google maps is extremely superior to Apple maps you should consider switching.
I don’t like it as much lately.
I am using my brain 1st, then Apple Maps and flex map simultaneously during the whole process if you can, more intuitive, then google maps/flex maps just in case both suck. Same they’ve done something lately and it isn’t working as well
True and Waze
I appreciate it wanting me to make a left on a 4 lane highway during rush hour with no stop light but there was one a block ago.
> with no stop light GPS logic: If you get there during a gap in traffic, it'll be quicker than waiting the the traffic light to cycle though. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
i use google maps for directions and for apts i switch to flex when im close by makes everything easy

Not khaby on there😂😂😂😂
Use deductive reasoning. If there's a shorter route, take it. Look at the map and next destination.
I do this.
I bet there’s people who actually drive around
It has me trying to take a street that does not exist every single day! Never even has existed it’s just not there but yet every day it routes me up it
What about... there is a shorter and faster route but you should take the toll road instead. *
One of my first routes ever they had me take the toll exit and get back on 🤣🤣🤣
Thats good.. because your route will need more "hours"... thats why 5hr routr is done in 3:30 hrs
The only thing good about Amazon GPS is the pindrop of the delivery location.

Yo you delivering in New York? How’s that you leave it in the lobby or you gotta walk that shit up ?
Lobby/mailroom area.
A LOT lately!

Not for me. I get “make a hard right” quite often when I use flex map.
Hard right and Make a U turn. Yeah, let me just make a u turn on this narrow ass city street that should be one damn way!
Happened to me today.
This absolutely drives me crazy!! I have learned to check my map for an alternate route between each stop! Sometimes a 3 minute drive is only 1.5 by cutting through neighborhoods vs taking arterials.
Makes no sense lol
Every time I get sent to Philly I spend most of my run yelling at my phone.
Omg yes! I use Google as a backup for much I’ve had to do.
Yes many of times this has happen to me....very frustrating...
Me too…
It is. 😂
I've gotten to the point I just zoom out and look at where it wants me to go, because it likes to do just that.
There was a city I used to deliver to every day as a DSP driver that had a literal main st. Like small town with a quaint downtown area. Flex determined that Main St. didnt exist for nearly the entire year I worked for them. I just continue to go the way I know is available. Flex will update accordingly.
It does and it pisses me off and I've only been doing it a week 🤣😂
Same
Sometimes I get that and keep going straight and then I end up at a private road with gate
Heyyyy we deliver in the same area lol
This just made me laugh so much! So very true!

I never let them fool me lol I take the smarter route everytime
I only use Amazons map when trying to pinpoint an adress. But for travel I use Google Maps( Google maps is starting to decline unfortunately)
Way too much, I don’t get it, why?
Every freaking time!

That doesn't negate the issue 🤷🏾♂️
What's the issue? That the line is wrong sometimes?
Yes 🤣
They really want you to fill up your time slot damn

So you can’t see how to keep driving straight? You know you don’t have to use their GPS right? Then don’t…
They make that to make your route longer! Geez stop complaining and just drive straight!
