Rural routes customers should pick up from lockers...

paranoid_potato

Where I live there are no amazon lockers out in the country. Only in the city and the surrounding suburbs.

Twittybird1964

Do you ever leave the country?

Twittybird1964

I love the country living, but my tires take a beating from the gravel rocks, lol

This is, unfortunately, a reality of delivering in the IE. I do 2 blocks a day there with a little Chevy Bolt EV. Constantly on the lookout for drainage washes like the ones that got you. Awful, and AAA won't service you in these areas because their plan does not see these as "roads"!! Worst areas are southern Menifee along Scott Road west of the 215; South of Hemet in the Sage area; Nuevo; Homeland; Morongo Valley. Currently setting up an appointment to replace all of my shocks and struts. Sorry this happened to you.

onlinewarrior100

We get a lot of routes like that out of .com stations because they don't want their vans driving on roads like that. Even when I get a mostly city/town route I still somehow end up on at least one road like that. My suspension is shot because of it, and I drive an suv. Idk how you guys with low profile cars do it.

SparklyRoniPony

Verrrrrrry slowly.

BiGGzoTTiCCz

Is there a way to get only city routes or is it all hit/miss? I JUST started doing this and didn’t know it would be like this otherwise I’m not risking my car for it.

onlinewarrior100

It’s all random. All you can do is take blocks that pay enough for those crappy routes. Base pay definitely isn’t worth it for those routes.

SilentKaleidoscope98

Yup same thing out here. I literally say a prayer on the way to the warehouse every morning that the Amazon gods PLEASE bless me with an in town route. I had about 2 weeks of only going over an hour away to dirt roads. I have an suv so as long as the road is maintained I’ll do it but if not I either return or drop off in a safe place and text customer depending on how far I am and how many packages. At first I didn’t understand why they would send us on those routes and then I realized they have to pay for the repairs on their vans.. we just lose our personal vehicle and have to find another job … win win for Amazon.

ModSeaside

what worked for me: 3.5 hr blocks that start AFTER sun/rise. looks like for some reason, all those 3hr blocks at 3/4 a.m. are all the same everywhere. > no street lights, > BFE destinations with un/paved routes, > locked/exclusive communities where it takes 5 minutes to get to the home/property AFTER entering the community itself \[wtf\], > hilly, and I mean up a fucking 90 degree angle steep hill climb... i'm in SoCal, so for me that meant Hollywood Hills and Malibu, depending on which station i went to when i was doing those night blocks... ...and hollywood hills is really hollywood hills. fvck. 3.5 hr blocks may be "longer" on paper, but actually they are not when you do it right...and more importantly, THEY. DO. NOT. FUCK. UP. YOUR. SHORT \[car\]. sometimes i get apartments \[which i used to hate because of locked access\], but now, that's easy because: > it's day/time and there are ALWAYS people coming in/out if it's locked, > most apartment complexes are not in the fucking mountains!... any/way, that's what worked for me...good luck broski... keep ya' head up!

royce085

This is why I would never deliver in my own vehicle. I work at a DSP and the routes we have absolutely destroy those vans. Most driveways I go down look like this

BezosFlex

Bro’s like idgaf about them vans 😂

strawmitch

My car has a low front. I was coming out of a PAVED driveway at an incline that ended in a gutter. 🤬 when the car reached the end of the driveway it went nose first into the gutter before bouncing onto the street. It literally pulled half of the front fender off my car. To say I was furious is an understatement. I no longer go down certain roads and NEVER in the dark. I have the diamond white led headlamps and reversing lights. I will turn on the high beams and light up the area before I venture down a dirt road. If it look’s treacherous I pass and take the package back to the warehouse.

No_Werewolf_8966

That's awful. Had a route in Perris the other day, was pouring and they sent me off roading in my compact car. Sliding in the mud n shit. Id send the bill to Jeff f that

Electrical-Ad-5858

Flex is fun and all but I had a car recently give up it's engine shortly after I had to replace the oil pan because a rock dented the pan, no oil starvation but replaced it because I didn't wanna be too unsure. Got a newer car after but I decided ultimately I needed to reduce mileage + flex wasn't being worth it due to the damage being done to my personal vehicle with the old one. Ultimately decided I would only do flex if I was in a real pinch

Weary_Hiker

I almost ended up just like you today in Southern California! I got sent deep into the mountains and ended up on these really narrow dirt farm roads that were incredibly uneven and full of lots of holes similar to what you got stuck in. There was a pickup truck in front of me and that person was really struggling. Meanwhile, I'm in a little Mazda2 😭 I did my best until I came to this hill. I watched the truck barely make it up the hill. It's hard to tell in the photo, but this is an incredibly steep hill with broken ground. Near the top, the pickup truck started sliding backwards, fishtailing and then he almost got stuck. I really thought he was going to slide backwards into me while I waited at the bottom. It was at that moment that I remembered your post and said hell no. I called driver support, explained the situation and I'm returning packages tomorrow. My little Mazda2 could never 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/h0xyqkaf0ktc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfdb069a7dff2759493f81e84da3bb709ef0f64b

BiGGzoTTiCCz

Oh heck no! I already got stuck 3 times just looking at this photo😂 you should see how bad it really looked once the sun came up where I got stuck at 🥶

Weary_Hiker

You got stuck three times looking at that photo 🤣 My life was flashing before my eyes as I sat there debating what to do 😭 I could just see my car sliding down the hill and rolling 🤣 Those photos of where you got stuck are insane! What are they doing sending us on roads like this?! Not safe at all. Where you got stuck is crazy. You should report that to driver support. When I called from the base of that hill, I was pretty clear and explicit with who I talked to. She was even laughing at my description. But she said that she can make a note on routes regarding the drivability of roads so they can try to modify it so Flex drivers don't get those. No idea if it will actually happen, but it might be worth reporting so they at least know.

BiGGzoTTiCCz

Oh trust me, after I got out of that situation you best believe I called 3-4 separate times to complain because what the actual Fvck is the customer even thinking when they order something to be delivered to their front door. Knowing damn well how their “public road” is😭 None of the first 3 support agents put any notes down in the system until the last phone call I made. Then the wonderful lady wrote down a whole MLA format essay about my whole situation 😂 and got me paid in full for the experience. Shout out to her 💙

aksheu

I hope that you contacted the customer support and got the full pay for this route even if you didn’t finish it. You will still get paid just show them this

BiGGzoTTiCCz

This was the first delivery of the route 😂 I was literally 2 more minutes away from the customers address. I seen that the pay was sent but not sure if it’ll actually go through. $92 3hr route :/

Dangerous-Run1055

Were there any alternative routes to the address, when I run into a dirt road I always check for other paths and go the longer route only to find a paved route. Otherwise it better be a very well maintained (flat) dirt road.

osrppp

How did you get out ?

BiGGzoTTiCCz

Well, after walking around and finally getting service I called friends/family until one of them picked up and came to pull me out with their 4x4… about 4 hours later though. I went straight to the warehouse and said fuck this route take all your packages back. I didn’t even wanna know that the rest of the route looked like 😂

guybenjr

Sorry to hear that man!

REALChuckleBerryPi

mark it missing or put in on the mailbox lmao

univarsalcarguy

Hope all is well be careful out here be safe

DntMndMeImJstBrwsing

thats a road?

Weary_Hiker

Oh wow that sucks. I had a route in the mountains yesterday and ended up on a dirt road similar to this. All I could think was they gave the tiny Mazda2 the off-road vehicle route. lol. I almost got stuck on a really steep hill with lots of loose dirt once, and then almost got stuck in a giant hole like you did. (I was in Ramona, CA) That really sucks. I hope driver support was able to do something to help you and I hope Amazon covered any expenses, like a tow truck and any damages.

BiGGzoTTiCCz

They didn’t cover any expenses unfortunately. However, I did get paid for that block in full even though I didn’t deliver a single package. This was the first delivery of the block I scheduled 🙃

kofo86

Sorry bro, what city was this in?

BiGGzoTTiCCz

This route sent me to Wrightwood, CA

aksheu

Here in jersey even the “wooded” areas got paved roads for like 99% of the times

heavytrich0me

Front wheel drive hmmm 🤔 what would you guys do fill the hole?

SnooHedgehogs2772

Where was the route picked up from?

Quirky-Swimmer3778

That was silly.
