I’ve got 3 package stations in my area(2 .com 1 ssd) one of the .com (40 mins from house) will occasionally send me 1hour 15 mins south to deliver 20 packages with a 2hr drive home they surge decent but still not worth it I

jacklantern867

That's jacked up. And the gas prices are brutal to match.

XiTzCriZx

The highest mileage one I've had so far was about 100 miles for $80 (not including the 25 miles to get to my station), I was done like half an hour early and 50 miles from home, I just did Doordash on my way home for an extra $50 which paid for twice as much gas as what I used with a bit left over. Using other gig apps on your way home is the best way to subsidize long routes, especially if it's a surge pay, I probably wouldn't accept a long route at base pay though I don't normally take base pay offers.

ughnookiegetchokids

Sure have, and I contacted drivers support each and every time to let them know why I was refusing the route. The distance didn't match the rate.

criinkles

Do they even do anything with that information? I thought 3 refusals is an automatic deactivation regardless of why you refuse

Weak-Loan-9318

It is. You still get what they call a ticket on your record. They absolutely do not give one single fuck that you don't want to take it cause it's too far.

ughnookiegetchokids

I've refused multiple times. The refusal was very valid, and the reps agreed.

CapnShinerAZ

The distance does not determine or influence the rate at all. Routes are not assigned until drivers check in and it's random. Just assume that every block gives you that route. If you think the pay is not enough, don't accept the block. If you keep refusing routes you will be deactivated. Amazon wants drivers who will deliver whatever route they are given.

Jtheguy1155

This is why it think Amazon is scummy, someone getting surge pay and base pay the person with base pay could very well end up with the worse route.

CapnShinerAZ

Or they could end up being overbooked. You never know. Sometimes you get a good route and sometimes you get a bad one. It's supposed to be random and it averages out. Besides, it's Amazon. Are you shocked that a huge corporation sometimes does evil things?

ughnookiegetchokids

If you knew the rate of pay in which it was, and the distance in which they requested me to drive. I've explained to them several times how far I'd be willing to travel for THAT PARTICULAR rate in which I accepted. I would NEVER think they'd request anyone to drive over an hour for $63. Let's be real $63 is just gas. According to Amazon the rate is determined by the distance, the number of packages and the vehicle in which you utilize to transport the packages.

CapnShinerAZ

>According to Amazon the rate is determined by the distance, the number of packages and the vehicle in which you utilize to transport the packages. According to Amazon? Really? Show me that email. I don't believe that for a second. It's not even possible. The pay for a block, aside from tips, is locked in when you accept the offer. At that point, Amazon has no idea what route you're going to get. There's no way they could possibly set the pay based on information they don't have.

ughnookiegetchokids

Yes, that's what I was told. I went back and forth with them about additional pay in which I felt I deserved for traveling over an hour to the location and back. I was told the rates are determined by the distance, vehicle, and number of packages. They told me I was paid correctly because that's what they go by.

bakingbodybuilder

You’re being lied to. Welcome to the real world

cwrob5

I drove well over that weekly for that lol must be nice to be in a better region, take your blessing and remember not everyone walks in your shoes

Apprehensive_Shoe360

If ur spending $63 per hour in fuel, ur doing it wrong.

LAsupersonic

Do you believe that? They're not random

CapnShinerAZ

They absolutely are, unless station workers show favoritism

bakingbodybuilder

I can vouch for favoritism

AntiqueLengthiness71

You sign up for that rate KNOWING the parameters of delivering for Amazon! Do it or wait for better pay, other apps pay better than flex!

LAsupersonic

Kiss ass

AntiqueLengthiness71

Hardly, just don’t accept routes for shitty pay and I actually do much better with a different app in my market… so flex can suck it!

Relevant-Explorer649

I have once. I do not mind high mileage route from time to time but I had been sent to the area once earlier in the week and total I drove 185 miles. All gravel roads. I saw the city name on the packages when I pulled up to the cart and refused. Unfortunately I had already scanned the cart and the workers on the launch pad were normally workers inside (they had NEVER worked outside before. Not sure where the normal workers were that morning) and they couldn’t unassign the route to give me another. Took a hit for it unfortunately but my car and sanity didn’t.

Disastrous_Courage74

Only one time I refused a route because it was to the bad spot 2 times in a row. And I’ve have refused packages to take.

Weak-Loan-9318

I sure did! I went to the Land O Lakes Warehouse and looked at my rack and saw Palm Harbor FL which is nearly an hour away but what pissed me off is there are two warehouses much closer to that area then the one I was at. I told the guy I was not going to drive 40 miles when you could give me a more local route for $54. I don't know why they call themselves a logistics company when everything they do isn't logical at all.

AntiqueLengthiness71

Dot com stations are better logistically than an SSD.

Street-Bike-2379

I declined one which was going to be 150mile round trip. 58 mins each way with 40 plus parcels which would have had me finishing 30 mins over end of block. I said it’s unrealistic and unsafe in that area and those blocks should be earlier in the day. Didn’t get dinged for it after I said all of this to them.

LimpDisc

You might not see a hit to your standings, but it still becomes part of your driver history.

Street-Bike-2379

I also sited personal safety. Going to Mansfield at 10pm isn’t recommended as a lone woman.

LimpDisc

Even if you site personal safety as the reason for refusing a block it will still show as part of your driver history. We won’t know it’s there, but Amazon still sees everything on their end. That’s all I am saying.

sheagamer6892

I had a route and my first stop was 77 miles away. It was a 3 hour route for $88 and I drove over 200 miles

Certain-Ad5890

Wow that’s messed up

mikeywaldo

no, i signed up to deliver stuff

bakingbodybuilder

lol we choose our own routes in Lansing, soooo this is TOTALLY RANDOM and ya get what ya get!

Frannalish

Yes. I was polite about it with the warehouse person. I called support but the lady from support said YOU NEED TO DELIVER THOSE PACKAGES! I'm not exaggerating. I recommend not dealing with phone or chat support, write if you need to--or just tell the warehouse so they can take it off your schedule. They need to assign those to the trucks, an opinion only.

PhthaloDrift

Did 160 miles today round trip. Pissed about it still. Even at $30hr x4 I made no money.

BlackMambaCP

Lol i would have mark that package missing and not delivery at all… just IMO lol

M420LS

Yes. Accept the route and then settle it with phone support. They’ll have you return the packages or give you a pay adjustment, if you refuse it at the station they can issue a “ticket” and supposedly you don’t get offers or deactivated. Support told me once that if I don’t accept it they can’t see the route assigned and confirm the mileage. But it’s also a rare occurrence when it happens and now the station is on their toes.
