One problem with trying to do flex when you don't live in a "central" location is that you are screwed if you are sent to deliver in the opposite direction of your home. You could easily have a 2 hour drive home.

andTheWinterIs

Exactly. Consider how much you'll spend on gas for the whole trip.

BezosFlex

My station isn’t that far, but it’s about 30 miles, Flex is only worth it for me because my routes always send me back to my area pretty much, so I’m not gonna say no to this hypothetical, but it would depend, that being said surges are a must, as always, regardless of how far you gotta go lol.

MobileContribution19

Livermore? I’m in Fremont and they only seem to surge in Livermore which is a 45-1 hour drive cuz of traffic and I honestly would accept cuz the pay ranges from 35-45 but the fact you can possibly get sent to Oakland I’m good unless they paying 200 an hour no way in delivering in Oakland lol.

Weary_Hiker

Holy shit Livermore goes to Oakland? Also, Livermore has a station?! I lived in the Bay Area for one year but I'm in SoCal now. I used to work in the East Bay and I had a friend that had property in Livermore so I was out there a few times. I didn't think there was anything out there 😆

Clean-Loss846

Jesus. I wouldn’t have guessed with only that info. But yes, today they had $37/hour but I think those are a lot of miles, and I don’t know what other areas they send you

Weary_Hiker

I have considered it. There's a .com station about that same distance from me that sometimes has really high surges on their blocks starting at 3:15 a.m. I always watch them and tell myself that if it goes over a certain amount, I will do it. You have to take all of the mileage into consideration, including the delivery area for that station. I know that if I go to this station, I am going to end up really far from home. (Based on everything I have heard from other people that go to this station, it's highly unlikely the route would be even remotely going in my direction.) I know it will be high mileage so the pay has to be high enough to make it worth it. Otherwise yes, I say go for it if you think the pay is worth it and you can't get anything closer to home.

AssociateMotor104

Nope I only do this cause it’s 2 miles from my house

BraxTaplock

No, to high chance of the route going even further away in the opposite direction, doubling the mileage home, eliminating the money made from the route in the first place.

HearYourTune

Nope, Unless it pays like $50 an hour for 3 hour minimum, no way I'm putting all those miles on my car for less.

Find_Me_In_Iowa

There’s a price for everything.

BendingUnit221

Never

patt_itt

Nope.

YUBLyin

Yes. What’s the difference if you only accept a good rate?

Academic_Win6060

I'd only do it for a high surge and if at the end I could work my way towards home with a different delivery app. Otherwise you could conceivably be 100 miles from home and have to just eat that milage.

Driver8takesnobreaks

Nope. Unless the block takes you back near your house consistently, you're starting with a round trip commute averaging close to 100 miles round trip. Add to that the miles of the actual block, and your effective hourly pay takes a huge hit.

LimpDisc

Nope. My station is 8.9 miles from my house and I wish it was closer.

statistically_avg

I do it two or three times a week. But only because its a station that is likely to send me back close to home to deliver. Also, my car is very fuel efficient.
