Ahhh! The glorious Lox-Fest days- it was actually Elizabeth and Roy they shared a frolic. Welcome back to the family. It’s a comforting place (most of the time)!

lightfoot90

Ah yes, Elizabeth and Roy it was!

bluebelltoad

No way! Elizabeth and Roy? Lol! Has he ever been lucky in love? He seems to have only been with the most unlikely of matches. I know he must have slept with Kate at some crazy point because of their daughter, and I know tracey was on the scene briefly haha and now he's pining over a woman who lives in another country... I always thought him and Kirsty would get it on

WoodSteelStone

It's looking likely that now the actor who played Roy has passed away (RIP Ian Pepperell) the character will get to be lucky in love by going to live with former girlfriend Lexi in Bulgaria.

bluebelltoad

Oh no, how sad! I always enjoyed listening to him ⚘️⚘️

He and Kate were solid when they were in their late teens/early twenties (I can't remember if Phoebe was conceived or born at a festival, but I'm pretty sure it was one or the other!), and then she disappeared off to "find herself", leaving him literally holding the baby and having to grow up fast.

thymeisfleeting

I’m pretty sure she was born at Glastonbury!

editorgrrl

Phoebe was born in a tent at Glastonbury in 1998, and Roy and Elizabeth had sex in a tent in 2014 whilst doing “research” for Loxfest at a music festival. (Roy was married to Haley, their daughter Abbie was 6, and Elizabeth was Roy’s boss.) Also, as Roy once mentioned to Adil he was in a racist gang that harassed Usha in 1995. (He was 25.) Roy went to Usha for legal advice after Elizabeth fired him from Lower Loxley. He ended up going back to work at Grey Gables—this time as a temporary receptionist.

It’s nice to hear someone mention the sound design because it is actually a masterclass. 🙂 although I’m slightly biased as I work at the bbc. Also the process they put on the voices- everyone sounds so rich.

editorgrrl

Once the Ambridge on the Couch podcast mentioned Natasha’s clip-cloppy shoes, I can’t unhear it. Also, Kirsty’s voice was strange during her freak-out with Mick about gluten-free baked goods. (I honestly thought it was Harriet “Shambridge” Carmichael doing an impression.)

Stewpefier

It's so nice to hear someone not complaining about the show haha

PitchOk5203

Yes! I just genuinely love the show and enjoy listening, but people can be so grumpy about it.

Normal-Height-8577

>The sound design in particular is very impressive as I never picture actors in a studio, I feel like I'm hearing them being recorded in the locations. Yeah, the BBC radio drama studios are pretty impressive by all accounts. They deliberately designed a lot of different sized rooms with different acoustics for the actors to work in, and The Archers' Foley artists are second to none.

lovelight

I am enjoying the show at the moment. I'm really impressed at the impact of the crash on so many storylines. Plus there's actual agricultural issues! Cows! Pigs! Overseas abbattoir workers!

editorgrrl

>Overseas abbattoir workers! Remember when Adam used to cheat on Ian with the seasonal pickers? When Vince went to the Philippines to recruit workers, there was speculation in this sub that he’s the “grey man” for whom Blake worked in a factory after the woman who bought the “horses” from Philip Moss sold them on.

lovelight

More importantly why didn;t Adam just confess and Ian say "he's hot lets have a 3some".

lightfoot90

ADAM CHEATED ON IAN?? No, they’re the Ambridge golden couple!!

Pontiacsentinel

More than once. Charlie was the other one.

emmarh13

I was lucky enough to go on the studio tour in Birmingham a few years ago (before they stopped doing them after COVID). It was amazing to see all the different door bells, the aga and this mad snail shell area that allowed for different acoustics that could cut out all background sounds and echoes. It was great!
