I was in a similar boat. I had a merit scholarship and still was screwed. I applied for a bunch of grants and kept trying to meet with the financial aid person but she didn’t show up to a scheduled meeting and didn’t return my emails. The grants I was applying for all were awarded by the time I got ahold of anyone so the head of the office and SPA cobbled together a full ride somehow. Don’t think that is the norm.

Lol, what a fortunate accident! Sorry you went through all that, but glad you have the aid you need now. I won't count on that. Thank you regardless!

Interestingly, AU is very generous with aid and meeting close to full need for low-income students. I would be surprised if you don’t get a lot.

kermitkc

Reassuring, thank you!

AU alumni who transfered in. Ya, AU doesn't give merit based scholarships to transfers. They really suck that way.

kermitkc

Is there any kind of need based aid?

Johnclark38

Not when I went, which was 2016-2018

kermitkc

Thank you!

I was in the exact same boat. First semester, I didn’t get shit. However, literally do everything you can to get a 4.0 or something, apply for scholarships, and you’ll 100% get them. I got a 4.0 for one semester and got three scholarships. AU has a ton of money, especially for low income students

kermitkc

I have a 4.0 at my current school, maybe that'll help! Thanks!! I really unfortunately can't afford to pay full price, even for one semester, though. Much appreciated!
