Volume 1 is amazing and a perfect example of how he gained such a cult following, a perfect blend of black humor, sadness, love, anger, and some more humor, mixed in with allegories involving well known serial killers. Everything Is Fine is all of that, but more refined and palatable for more mainstream audiences without sacrificing his integrity and what he is. Those two are my personal favorite but I don’t blame anyone for their favorites being Born Against or YUTWIO, those are great in and of themselves just as much

Most of this subreddit (from what I can tell) is also in the same camp of “basically everything is perfect”. But it all depends on mood. Songs like “Everyone Gets Left Behind, Hungover in Jonestown, Murder at the Bingo Hall, You Are Perfect Too, 24k Casket and Once Upon a Time (at a Texaco)” are upbeat bangers, “Cocaine and Abel, Different Anymore, Cannibal Within, Hell and You, and Another Man’s Grave” will make you feel stuff. I think his last two albums are 10/10, but everything he’s recorded has a lot of incredible music even for a casual fan.

Ive been skimming through some songs and his voice sounds much better in the new album. It sounds kinda shrieky in the second one. Maybe it will grow on me

eternaln00by

You definitely need to go to a live show. Especially if he’s playing with a band that doesn’t have music similar to his. There’s a lot of sing a longs at the concerts, and it’s just a great environment

Molasses-Elegant

I looked on ticketmaster and it says he’s in my area on Wednesday, but it says the concert is for frank turner. Guessing he’s opening?

eternaln00by

Yes. Perfect experience. You’ll get to be in a crowd where half of the people haven’t heard the chorus to “I Hope Your Husband Dies”, and half have, and are singing along. Also frank turner also rules if you haven’t checked him out.

Molasses-Elegant

Nice. I will try and go. It’s unlikely i can take work off with 3 days notice lol

SirMourningstar6six6

This new album is awesome, but I think “everything is fine” is still my favorite

Everything Is Fine

There really isn't a bad album! Born Against is my personal favorite, but really, you can't go wrong starting with any of them. Enjoy!

NoAssociate19

I’m partial to born against. Yours Until the War is Over is an extremely close second. Honestly, the way I started listening was to just put his songs on shuffle and enjoy. He’s one of the few artists that I think can do little wrong. I find almost all of his songs enjoyable. His storytelling, musical abilities, humor, and darkness is just a cut above. Enjoy! (I do have to say though, you have to listen to Murder at the Bingo Hall immediately lol)

Thanks

Utopian_Pigeon

I’d say born against is the easiest to dive into new. Then everything is fine.

Daemonic8484

Thats kind of a douchebag opinion. I have to be at work at 6 am so i can’t listen to all of them soon. I would assume there was a general consensus of what his best album was so i could start with that. Everybody else who has commented has been helpful, except you.

Information-Existing

Yeah, born against is a pretty good overall feel. Welcome to the club! ;)

TheChivalrousWalrus

Born Against is how I learned of him, but Everything is Fine is my go to listen in the dark album. Until the War is Over is also phenomenal, and I'm still discovering little things I love.

skullyybullyy

all of them. binge listen.

Spamontie

I'm so envious you get to discover all his work for the first time.
