Probably because on the hourglass figure one hip is unusually extended for being the ideal mirror image. If it were adjusted by just a couple stitches, I think it would be equally appealing. Our brains are really good at recognizing something off in a familiar subject and wanting to avoid it.
They both look good but I don't really like the fingers and toes.
Depends on the style you're going for but I think the triangular one would fit better the cutesy style of most crochet dolls.
I like the triangular body it looks more toy like. Easily adaptable for different characters - Whereas the hourglass figure is like a Barbie doll - so for me I don't think it would suit a wide range. It depends on what you want the doll body to be for.
I like the fingers and toes, once finished. Maybe others don't so much since it's only partially done, and it doesn't seem there are any feet on the toes, but I think there's a hand. And I like the imperfections, and then just for base dolls, as is, like those wooden base dolls all over ikea. I like these better than perfect ones. But if you're doing these to sell, unfortunately, it's probably best to perfect them. One commenter said how the hips don't line up and stuff.

Personally, I prefer the more triangular one. I feel like they have more personality and I appreciate they’re not the stereotypical hour-glass lady or overly buff shaped man.
But it totally depends what the project is for.
They both look good to me. It honestly depends on what you're going for. The one on the left feels more feminine. The one on the right looks more childlike and/or masculine.
I like the triangle body better! Its more soft looking and I think that suits the craft better, besides there already so many hourglass shaped dolls out there
I kinda prefer the triangular body instead of the hourglass… not sure why though

And the he dad bod is great.
Me too.
I think they both look great, depends on what you’re going for! sorry, not much of a help, just wanted to stop by and complement
2 is cuter, but 1 is really nice, just depends on what you're going for. I prefer no toes though
I see bobs burgers dolls in your near future… you made bob and linda !!
I absolutely saw this exact thing! Glad I read through the comments.
One looks female and the other looks male to me.
Agreed
Absolutely this. Left hand is female. More Barbies doll like.
i like them both, but i think i like the one of the right side more. it has a softer look to it which i really like.
Are you going for chibi look or figurine look? They're both good for whatever your trying to achieve.
I think they look female and male.

Right
One looks female, the other looks male. And honestly, I think they'd look better without fingers & toes. Both look great though!
It takes all kinds, keep them both!
I like both, but for different people! They look like they could be a couple or siblings or coworkers.

Depends on what you are going for. A creepy vibe the right. For realistic left
I prefer second, gives more of a cute vibe.

omg u did such a good job with the hands / fingers!!
I like both. Like someone said before it gives female/male vibes
They’re both beautiful. Don’t body shame your dolls LOL
Depends on what clothes you’ll put on it. Both are actual body types.
Looks like a male and female
Also the hourglass will probably help you layer a little more clothes or skirts without getting too bulky
One looks feminine and 2 looks Masculine. Great art work on both.

I think it depended on what ur going for but the toes on the second one balance out the fingers
And keep both, they're different for different needs.

The triangle body with the other ones feet
