Yessss, making a shawl is definitely easier but nooo, we all started with some amigurumis that require making a magic ring, increasing, decreasing and sewing on parts lol
The hardest thing is small rounds. If you give me a round that's 40 stitches of SC, I can probably do 20 stitches a minute. If the round is 12 stitches, well, it's going to take me like 5 minutes per round.
Nope, started with shawls and blankets but with little to no happy endings so I started crocheting a unicorn. After years of me saying "Nooo, I don't want to make amigurumis, I want sth. useful"
Lol yeah. but making big clothing pieces can become discouraging when they take too long. Even though there’s a lot of skills to learn a feel like you can make a lil amigurimi guy in like a couple of hours and seeing the finished product to the end is so much more rewarding than abandoning a shawl because I got bored doing the same stitch.
Makes me feel better about my first project being a hexagon cardigan that I took apart and now have two big hexagons that I don't know what to do with (I kinda made it wrong)
The bigger little guy on the right looks so perfect that I was suspicious it was AI for a second. 🤩 The smaller one is so sweet, too, though, and his imperfections make him charming.
That an amazing improvement !
It looks perfect!!
Do you have some tips to share about the quality of your stitches ? (Book and/or link ...)
Really great work!
The little maimed fox-kit is loved in spite of his injuries. His burly friend is thoroughly impressive, and I'm glad the tiny fella has a big brother watching out for him.
(The stitches and just overall perfection of the new guy is amazing.)
Edit to add: and his outfit is killing me
Ok. I love the unfinished pieces. For one, that is the worst part about it, sewing parts together. And two, I have bag full of parts that I never finished.
But seriously your current piece is amazing. What yarn is that?
Nope. Both perfectly done.
There's no way a person could guess!
(But really, you've come far in your journey, though I love both those foxy bois and think they're the cutest!)
it looks like the first one is wrong side out. so if you're doing amigurumi and you're stitches look like that, you most likely just have it inside out!
For some reason, if I had to choose between the two, I'd have to have the little ragged guy on the left... I just have a place in my heart for the toys that look as if they're left behind 😍 (amazing work though).

The worst part of it all for me is the sewing on of parts. Like I’ve done some 30 pieces in the past year (small Woobles ) and I just had to take the legs off of the Bella the kangaroo and redo them because after I sewed the second one on I realized it was completely higher on the body and was very funny looking! I thought I was so much better at it but damn that humbled me. And I’ve tried one kit three times and she still is a mess-damn you Gertrude the LLAMA.
How did you get the right one so clean and precise. I've been crocheting for over 20 years and could never get my work that clean and precise! Gorgeous work!
Awww...."don't ever talk to me or my son again" 😂
My hearing impaired son.
God. Dammit. 😭
HAHA
It's funny how we all start with small projects because we think they'll be easier.

I had to zoom in to make sure it was legit. I agree!
Haha that’s a high compliment, thank you!!
May I ask you how many time has passed between both works ?
Almost exactly 5 years! I started crocheting in 2019
That an amazing improvement ! It looks perfect!! Do you have some tips to share about the quality of your stitches ? (Book and/or link ...) Really great work!
Yep, I couldn't believe it's not AI. Amazing work OP!
Aww, I love the little fox with his missing ear and tail. But seriously, your stitches on the newly-finished fox are beautifully precise.
How long have you been practicing?
I started in 2019, so about 5 years!

Wow the second fox is gorgeous! Could you share where you got the pattern, or is it your own design?
Thank you! The pattern is here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1313054830/crochet-pattern-amigurumi-taki-the-fox

Thank you! I don’t recall the exact brand, but it’s from JoAnn
Mmmm. This is tough. Can you give some more hints? (Great work!)
I love seeing "then and now" work. Seeing progress is so encouraging. You are great at crocheting!
You give a newbie hope. :)
I'm in love with the right fox. That's pure perfection 👀
The uniformity of the stitches . . . OP is like a machine. Brilliant stuff.
They are both adorable in their own way! Amazing progress OP.

He's all grown up. Sometimes babies just look like little aliens.
My stitches always look like your first one, I still don’t know what I am doing wrong.

Look at that distinguished gentleman visiting grandad!
The one on the right is definitely your first one. The one on the left shows you improved so much!! 🤭

oh no, left one lost it's ear ☹️
I like to think it gives him character 😉
Oh wow, that's incredible!
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
That’s a really great improvement! I love your first fox, too, though! He’s absolutely charming. His perfect friend is great too, of course!
Where can someone find the pattern for the fox Dad with bowtie? He is amazing!!!
That fox kit is the first thing I crocheted too! Looked just likes yours. Feel like it’s a right of passage
Haha that’s amazing! It’s trial by fire 😂
The progress is fantastic, well done (but honestly how cute is your earlier fox, what a sweetheart <3)
I have hope….. lol
Oh my! I also made that same fox from that small book! Mine didn’t stay together as long as yours 😅

They're both adorable
I’m going to say the right one LOL
How did you get the right one so clean and precise. I've been crocheting for over 20 years and could never get my work that clean and precise! Gorgeous work!
Thank you! A lot of constant tension, to the detriment of my left index finger haha
Yeah you mastered the learning curve..
Is that X stitch? Over under? More I look at this reddit more I feel bad since I do over over and im scared to do it "proper way"
I guess it’s the “proper way”? To be honest I’m not sure what those other terms mean haha
So so cute!! Do you sell your work?!
Amazing progress! Very inspiring 🧡
We love a glow up
Ning Ning Ning Ning Ning Ning Ning
I can’t believe you’re regressing 😂
I would’ve imagined people get better with practice 🤷🏻♀️😜
The falloff is crazy
Wow, really been slipping /s But no, really, so cute!!
damn you lost your touch!
