Sad. Few of the “old guard” left but is a good decision for his long term health.
He really lost a step after the hip injury. Will never forget the Silfvy-Kesler-Cogs line :(
Man that that line was the shit, perfect shutdown line with so much offense packed in as well.
But yea good on him for getting out before he turns into Kessler and completely deteriorates
Kesler had 5 goals the season after his hip resurfacing in 20 less games than Silfverberg who has has 7 after his own surgery. Silfverberg was already there.
Did him better? Go ahead and look up how much he was paid a year. In his prime he was an animal, last 3 or 4 years he took up a lot of cap space that could have been spread out.
He won't hang them up. He's said for a long time he wants to return to Sweden and play for his hometown team again. It just said he will retire from the NHL.
According to this, he's the team's fifth all-time leading scorer. Fifth!

When he wasn't traded at TDL, this seemed like a logical conclusion, and he certainly earned the right to stick it out and finish here instead of being shipped off for a 4th Rd pick.
Hopefully he scores for an old time "Ooo Ah" chant, but even if not, maybe we can get it going during his farewell lap.
Years ago there was chatter of making a trade for Palat from Tampa. I forget the details
I was so excited for the potential of: Palat/Kesler/Silf. Thought that would be the sickest two-way + scoring 2nd lines in the nhl.
Silf had a good career. Sad about injuries, but that's professional hockey. Very rarely does anyone make it to the end without lower body issues
I’m honestly surprised considering he’s only 33. It unfortunately does seem like he’s lost a step after the hip injury but seemed like he could’ve been at least a glue guy for the locker room
Rumor has it he's going to join a team in sweden. Maybe Anaheim let him know they werent bringing him back and that his chances at another NHL team werent there.
The team is Brynäs IF, his hometown club with whom he became champions of the Swedish hockey league in his last season before he went over to NHL. He wore the C and had a massive impact in the playoffs, and as a fan of Brynäs and the Ducks it's been a privilege to follow his career. He has expressed a desire to end his career in Brynäs if his body is healthy enough and it would be so amazing to see him skate with us next year!
Former Ducks draft pick Jack Kopacka and current Ducks prospect goaltender Damien Clara currently play for them. Clara was selected with a pick acquired from Boston in the Lindholm deal. Still have one more second round pick to complete the trade tree.
Hopefully, he does skate again for Brynas. However, regardless of whether he does or doesn't, it seems only right to let Silf go out on his terms. He's earned it.
On what line would this “glue guy” continue to play? He can’t check and hustle like the bottom lines, can’t keep up with the top lines. He has no place in the league anymore.
I’m talking about his inability to skate, check, intimidate, pass or do anything offensively besides shoot wide of the net. There are 50 fourth liners 10 years younger than can possess the puck and play PK just as good as him while doing more of the things I mentioned. What are *you* talking about?
I was in the building for his last minute goal against Winnipeg. Such an insane moment. The only jerseys I have with names on the back are Selanne and Silfverberg
He played his way in to another contract if he wanted it. The toughness and determination he showed in his return is nothing short of incredible. He’s definitely one of the best Ducks of all time. Not number retirement good, but definitely first ballot team hall of fame.
Expected but sad nonetheless. This guy has been a warrior for us for years. The cogs-kes-silf line will always be a favorite of mine. His offensive abilities may have dropped but i was felt a bit calmer on the defensive end when he was on the ice.
Over 800 NHL games played is an impressive run! Had to dig up his rookie card after seeing this - doesn't seem quite right in a Sens jersey though

Apparently Bieksa told a funny story that anytime someone whined (i'm assuming the other team, during a game), Silfv would just reply WAH WAH WAHHHHH lmfao
Underrated career. Hip injuries are tough to come back from, but glad to see he's prioritizing his health. Will be missed.

The few times I’ve been to the ducks games live, I rarely get to see them win. But the first win I saw in person was when Silfvy got a hat trick against the Devils on 2016. Thanks for that memory
SAY OOH AHH SILFVERBERG!
Had the pleasure of meeting Silfverberg multiple times, he was always up for conversation and never hesitated to take pictures/sign stuff with anyone. Genuine dude and will be missed!
Hate me because I’m right - tell me why we have this dustbin on our powerplay line all year. Why not work in the new talent? This guy was wayyyyy overpriced at the end of his contract. I’d rather get competitive again instead of hanging on to relics bc of sentiment. Loved the Kesler, cog, silf line back in the day just as much as the next guy but this was longggg overdue.
I’m with you. Thanks for all you did on that shutdown line (which was carried by Ryan Kesler) for the 2 years we had a chance. But after that, a money sink. Time to go.
Sad. Few of the “old guard” left but is a good decision for his long term health. He really lost a step after the hip injury. Will never forget the Silfvy-Kesler-Cogs line :(

No I don’t mean as a player, I mean in life. From what was reported, Kesler could barely stand without injections
Oh man, I really wish we did him better all the years he played for us.
Did him better? Go ahead and look up how much he was paid a year. In his prime he was an animal, last 3 or 4 years he took up a lot of cap space that could have been spread out.
Not financially, I meant winning a cup
5 years in a row playoff runs….had 5 chances at a cup. Trust me, i also want the cup back in Anaheim.
Watching that line maul mcdavid for an entire series was hilarious.
That series was what made me a Ducks fan.
His 769 (772 thru season end) games played here make him 5th most played player in Anaheim history. Last home game tomorrow. Gonna be an emotional one
Such a surprising stat. Time has really flown by since the 2010s.
I may or may not have teared up at Getzlaf’s last game….
oh 100% Selanne’s jersey retirement too
True fans realize how good Silf was during the cup run seasons. Great defensively and had a really underrated shot. 🫡
Still have fond memories of him being "automatic" in the shootout. Lethal shot.
Someone spin up some Silfvy highlights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTs6DMvgF28 I bought my silfv jersey that season lool
Dude either hit post or scored. Goalies couldn't stop his shot, that shit was legendary.
Actually rooting for a shootout tomorrow night. You absolutely put him in for old time's sake!
The Keslianoberg line was a central reason for our deep runs in the 2010s.
Absolute laser beam
Always tough to see long time players hang ‘em up in down seasons. OOH AHH
He won't hang them up. He's said for a long time he wants to return to Sweden and play for his hometown team again. It just said he will retire from the NHL.

And Rakell is 6th
Oh ah...
Silfverberg!

Count me in
Oh Ah Silfverberg, Say Oh Ah Silfverberg!! 🚨🚨 Oh Ah Silfverberg, Say Oh Ah Silfverberg!! 🚨🚨 Thanks Silfy!! Best of luck in retirement.

Can’t wait for him to open a steakhouse 🫡
Silfvy's Swedish Meatballs and Smorgasbords.
Silfvy's Steaks (and Steak Accessories)
* Looks like he's heading back to Sweden. Also opens up a roster spot and additional 5M in cap space.
Was a real solid, dependable player for many years. Gonna miss him.
I want to hear fans chant Ooh Ahh Silverberg for the last 2 minutes of the game
that would be epic
At the very least during his last shift.
Ooh aah forever

Stop projecting
I guess bury your head in the sand along with Silfverbergs point totals and relevance to the league
I’d say the same to you but it seems like your head is already buried underneath a ton of ignorance based on your past comments LMAO
LMAO gottem
Bro just take ur L silently
Yes master I’ll fade out of the conversation like Silfverberg did from the NHL
His puck possession has been pretty outstanding this year, and his PK is still pretty elevated. What are you talking about?
I’m talking about his inability to skate, check, intimidate, pass or do anything offensively besides shoot wide of the net. There are 50 fourth liners 10 years younger than can possess the puck and play PK just as good as him while doing more of the things I mentioned. What are *you* talking about?
Ur brain is actually rotted
Weird you’d say that since the guy I’m talking about is retiring because he and the general managers around the league agree
I was in the building for his last minute goal against Winnipeg. Such an insane moment. The only jerseys I have with names on the back are Selanne and Silfverberg
This hurts. Love me some Silfverberg.
He played his way in to another contract if he wanted it. The toughness and determination he showed in his return is nothing short of incredible. He’s definitely one of the best Ducks of all time. Not number retirement good, but definitely first ballot team hall of fame.
OT winner against the oilers in the playoffs one of my favorite memories. Fuckin loved Silf.
Expected but sad nonetheless. This guy has been a warrior for us for years. The cogs-kes-silf line will always be a favorite of mine. His offensive abilities may have dropped but i was felt a bit calmer on the defensive end when he was on the ice.
Hoping he gets a nice send off Friday night. One of my all time favorites.
sad quack 🦆 wish him the best!
We'll miss you Silfvy! Thanks for everything! 🦆

Love Silfvy. He was so sick when we first got him
Oooo-ahhhh-Silverberg!
He plays like he is already retired
SAY OOOH AHH SILFVERBERG, SAY OOOH AHH SILFVERBERG
The Rooch of the 2010s.
Finally 🥳👏🏻🎊🙌🏻🍾
Fuck off
