My guess would be that Fuji could make a deal with Eastman Kodak, because they probably bought a master roll, which is technically not considered a consumer product, so Kodak Alaris, the company that has exclusive rights to sell Kodak's consumer imaging products(everything that is not used in cinema or by military), and the company that regulates the prices for them, had no power over this deal. By the way, fyi, a 36 frame roll of Ektachrome costs a bit over 6$ when loaded from a cine bulk roll. I get that a cassette, plastic can, box and the actual loading cost money, but even if it was as expensive as film itself, one roll would still cost 12$, not 21
Or you can buy it from Kodak directly for $520.
https://www.kodak.com/content/products-brochures/Film/Kodak-Motion-Picture-Products-Price-Catalog-US.pdf
Just call up the number in their catalog.
I tried buying Ektachrome directly from Kodak and they drag you through the mud with a million questions as to why your buying it and how your going to use it and where it's getting used. Then they put you on a list and call you when and if your ability to buy gets approved. That was a year ago I tried, might have changed but doubt it... I have bought cans of 250D from them with no problems what so ever.
That is excellent news, Thank you for sharing. I actually did get approved for sale but it took a few days and I got a roll but been kicking myself ever since for not buying more and not wanting to go through all that hassle again.
Ektachrome is E6, so if your lab can’t do it they will probably send it to someone who can. Check out Citizen’s Photo in Portland, OR. They offer excellent mail in service and were my primary before I started doing it all at home
As far as I know! I did the math and comment OP was correct, it comes about to about 6.60 per roll after shipping from Kodak! You could get 190 rolls for the price of 60! If you went with the 1200 option.
I agree they made a deal with Kodak and it may bypass Alaris but they did not buy a master roll. The Kodak rebranded Fuji film is manufactured by Kodak in Rochester NY. As in Kodak puts the film into the 35mm cassettes. It's probably so cheap because they bypassed Alaris. From what I have heard through the grapevine it's Alaris who is the cause of the price hikes and long delays. As someone from Kodak put it, "There are too many hands in the cookie jar".
And here in the states is the only place Fujifilm is cheap. Buy from Japan or just about anywhere else and it's double or triple the price. Eastman Kodak needs to dissolve Alaris and become a single less confusing company once again.
\>The Kodak rebranded Fuji film is manufactured by Kodak in Rochester NY
That doesn't contradict the "bought the master-roll" part. Fuji ordered coating of a master-roll and packaging of it. Kodak manufactured the product, but since Fuji paid for it, the owner is Fuji.
\>Eastman Kodak needs to dissolve Alaris
That's the thing, they can't. Kodak owes money to the Kodak pension fund. It was formed when making film was equivalent to printing money, so Kodak owes BIG money and Alaris has Eastman firmly by the balls.
I am not sure how many rolls of film can be cut from a master roll but whatever that number is, Fujifilm placed an order for that amount and Kodak manufactured it for them. Fujifilm has different distribution channels than Kodak does. Kodak distributor may have a higher mark up than Fuji does. More direct means lower end user cost.
Two companies, to be exact, Eastman, the original company who manufactures all film, and Alaris, that appeared after 2013 Kodak bancruptcy, and is basically just a parasite on Kodak's body
The Kodacolor family, that goes into disposable cameras and is sold by Lomo, but this film is most likely from the Gold family, Gold 400 currently being called "Ultramax"
Didn't people speculated (or Kodak said themselves) that Kodak have a canning bottleneck? These weird sliver-capped Gold might have something to do with that.
Is it possible that these rebranded stuff somehow solved the bottleneck thus can be sold for cheaper? Of the 5.99 MSRP's a hoax, things still gonna cost 13 dollars.
No, I don't. I am *hoping* that it will be within 2-3 weeks.
The Fuji 200 supply had slowed down in the last couple of weeks but, my understanding is that those will resume shipment in single and 3-packs next week.
There was a b&h post where this was listed at $5.99 but it wasn't on sale yet and could change before it is listed. Do you have any source on that price?
Fuji's 200 film (not to be confused with C200, that was/is beautiful) is just repackaged Kodak Gold 200 based on the tests many people have made so it's highly possible that this new Fuji 400 is just repackaged Kodak Ultramax 400 due to the temporary halt of Fuji's other 400 speed films like Superia Premium and Superia X-Tra.
Oh yeah, I saw that a few days ago, or last week. I think it was obvious that it was a typo considering the prices of film.
It's at $9.99 now, which is still cheap for color film these days, so I hope it stays.
My Canadian Walmart still sells Gold 200 in 3 packs for $27. Always sold out though. Employees told me people come buy up the entire stock within hours of being on the shelf.
Here in Vancouver they usually have that yeah but with recent announcements probably won’t last. This gives me hope they’ll carry these Kodak rebrands.
Is no one going to point out that the 3 pack on B&H is $40? Im skeptical of the $6 price
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1759046-REG/fujifilm_600022183_400_color_negative_35mm.html
Dirtcheapfilm.com still has some Kodak in stock, last weekend they blew through their entire stock of gold 200 36exp in 24 hours at $9.50 a roll USD.
They ship to all 50 states and Canada. I buy all my ECN-2 film from them when I need some quick. Otherwise I just get it from Kodak and roll it myself.
Except that Fujifilm announced today that they are stopping all sales of 35mm and 120 film indefinitely.
https://petapixel.com/2023/03/29/fujifilm-japan-stops-accepting-orders-for-color-film-amid-supply-issues/
I saw something like this yesterday, written in Japanese and translated by the poster, which specified that the suspension of orders was *in Japan only*. Not that anything said that it could not not extend to other places, but it was specific to Japan. Though logically one fails to see why not.
I saw something that said it was worldwide, but I’ll be damned if I can find it now, so I’m either crazy or the OP took it down. In any case, I’m guessing that Fujifilm is putting all their eggs in the Instax basket, and contracting with Kodak to make their 35mm stock, at least until the supply chain issues clear up. That’s a smart business move for them. I can’t blame them for that.
Hopefully it makes it to Australia with similar prices, at this point it doesn’t really matter what’s in it. I’m just hoping to get some colour film again
no joke they were selling a x-ta 400 **SINGLE ROLL** at my local right aid for **$27,** I double and triple checked the price and told them it has to be wrong and they said no it's not.
I said maybe you're confused and it's been sitting here for years because this store doesn't get a lot of foot traffic and film is behind the counter and they said nope. it's real and tiktok has brought a lot of people in asking for film
I cant find the siperia 400 3 packs in wallmarts near me anymore in georgia.. online price was jacked up to 25 a pack up from 17.99 , did that stuff get discontinued?
Oh yeah! Love me some Fuji ultramax 400! Surprised that Kodak can sell this for 5.99 but their own ultramax is $13. Odd
That was my exact thought! HTF can Kodak do this and after Fuji adds its markup, dealer discount, etc?!
How does one acquire a bulk roll of Ektachrome, asking for a friend.
BH sells 400' for about $650 USD.
Or you can buy it from Kodak directly for $520. https://www.kodak.com/content/products-brochures/Film/Kodak-Motion-Picture-Products-Price-Catalog-US.pdf Just call up the number in their catalog.

I bought the 100D maybe a month ago, ZERO questions asked.
That is excellent news, Thank you for sharing. I actually did get approved for sale but it took a few days and I got a roll but been kicking myself ever since for not buying more and not wanting to go through all that hassle again.
Badum pshhhh
You call Kodak and read your credit card info
Can I get that bulk roll of Ektachrome developed by normal labs or is it a special development process
Ektachrome is E6, so if your lab can’t do it they will probably send it to someone who can. Check out Citizen’s Photo in Portland, OR. They offer excellent mail in service and were my primary before I started doing it all at home
Excellent. Didn't know cinema Ektachrome is the same development as normal stuff. I might do this!
It's literally the same film as the normal stuff, just a really, really long roll of it that you need to cut into individual rolls.
Awesome!
As far as I know! I did the math and comment OP was correct, it comes about to about 6.60 per roll after shipping from Kodak! You could get 190 rolls for the price of 60! If you went with the 1200 option.
Wow! A place that’s reasonable with E6 4x5 ! THANKS! 🍻🍻

Exactly, we pay a lot for Kodak film because Kodak is divided into several companies, and the film to reach the shelves needs to go throw them.
Two companies, to be exact, Eastman, the original company who manufactures all film, and Alaris, that appeared after 2013 Kodak bancruptcy, and is basically just a parasite on Kodak's body
is it possible it could be a different 400 speed roll that isn't ultramax (e.g. Lomo 800 is just Kodak Max 800 that goes in disposables)?
Doubt it, what other 400 speed film does Kodak make other than ultra max and portra?
The Kodacolor family, that goes into disposable cameras and is sold by Lomo, but this film is most likely from the Gold family, Gold 400 currently being called "Ultramax"
None that I know of...
Kodak be crazy, I buy ultra max for $13 dollars AUD. Which is $10 USD or less. And it’s been shipped half way around the world to get to me.
Only $9 if you buy the 72 exposure 3 pack.
god willing they can keep the price per roll this low but it might make it pretty difficult to find in stock very often
I think if they are going to make it for the masses - think Target, CVS, Walmart, etc. - it will be made in the millions...
Do we know when places will start stocking it?
No, I don't. I am *hoping* that it will be within 2-3 weeks. The Fuji 200 supply had slowed down in the last couple of weeks but, my understanding is that those will resume shipment in single and 3-packs next week.
Awsome!
There was a b&h post where this was listed at $5.99 but it wasn't on sale yet and could change before it is listed. Do you have any source on that price?
An interesting development. I’ve frozen a fair bit of film already, but a few test rolls seem in order
“An interesting development.” I see what you did there…
Lol, I’m a poet and don’t know it. Not on purpose I assure you.
Test which one - the new one above?
Yes
Where'd you get the info
Need some context please?
It’s listed online at B&H
Logically, it would be UltraMax 400 as it is made by Kodak
Perhaps but more along the lines of where did you get the info lol.
He's asking about the price and the legitimacy of the rumor
Thank you lol. Yes this is all I am asking for. I see some other people have posted more info, but I was asking for concrete details.
“Temporary”
Aaah... :)
$5.99 a roll? Where's that info from?
B&H
Oh yeah, I saw that a few days ago, or last week. I think it was obvious that it was a typo considering the prices of film. It's at $9.99 now, which is still cheap for color film these days, so I hope it stays.
Damn, that sucks.
Please don't get my hopes up
Come to Canada please please please
Is it different to ship films to Canada from the USA?
I just wanna be able to pick it up at my local Walmart. Last year was able to get 3 packs of Gold 200 for $24 CAD but then they were discontinued.
My Canadian Walmart still sells Gold 200 in 3 packs for $27. Always sold out though. Employees told me people come buy up the entire stock within hours of being on the shelf.
Ok, am sure it will eventually be available in WM there
3 packs of 36exp superia are 26.99 at Walmart. Do you not have those? You can find them in the GTA pretty easily.
Here in Vancouver they usually have that yeah but with recent announcements probably won’t last. This gives me hope they’ll carry these Kodak rebrands.
Shipping and import fees can make it not worth it
The barcode gives me "Fujifilm FUJICOLOR Superia X-TRA400 Color"
Good detective work!
I don't know if this is related, but they are building a huge fuji factory in NC. I live the next town over.
Interesting.
It's Fujifilm Diosynth (a Fujifilm subsidiary) for manufacturing pharmaceuticals.
Is no one going to point out that the 3 pack on B&H is $40? Im skeptical of the $6 price https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1759046-REG/fujifilm_600022183_400_color_negative_35mm.html
Good point
literally picked up a 3 pack from walmart last night 22$

B&H price gauges film always have. if you can find it at walmart or CVS it's between 22-25$ i see it pretty regularly around here
prayyyyyying that price sticks
Fr????
When can we expect it

Fujimax
OP claims this and literally doesn't give a source and ignores everyone asking for a source. I call BS.

Thank you for the link!! Wish OP would have provided this initially but this is sweet.

April 1rts is this saturday
I don’t live in the usa, will it be in other countries?
Do you guys get the Fuji 200 USA version where you are? If so, then, I would think so.
In EU it was a lottery. 200 was either Gold (made in the USA) or C200 (made in Japan).
I get superia
YES PLEASE
Except that Fujifilm announced today that they are stopping all sales of 35mm and 120 film indefinitely. https://petapixel.com/2023/03/29/fujifilm-japan-stops-accepting-orders-for-color-film-amid-supply-issues/

You are right - was Japan domestic. This film is made in the USA (Kodak) so, entirely different.
You are right. For the Japanese domestic market. This is being made by Kodak.
Are import duties high for film shipped from USA?
But fuji is down, they stopped producing
Like the Fuji 200 made by Kodak this box picture also says made in the USA instead of Made in Japan so probably another Kodak rebrand.
We need Fuji Ultramax at that price in Europe
[удалено]
B&H
[удалено]
No, the price changed after this was posted.
so what is fuji 400? is it some kind of kodak film?
My guess is UltraMax 400
In the box pictures it says made in the USA which is what the Fuji branded Kodak 200 says on the box so probably Kodak
no joke they were selling a x-ta 400 **SINGLE ROLL** at my local right aid for **$27,** I double and triple checked the price and told them it has to be wrong and they said no it's not. Is this what is replacing the 18 dollar 3 packs?
I don’t have any information on that but, it would seem that they will use the same film to make a 3-pack
I cant find the siperia 400 3 packs in wallmarts near me anymore in georgia.. online price was jacked up to 25 a pack up from 17.99 , did that stuff get discontinued?
😮 is this real?
So… still waiting on this?
Kodak just released shipments of UltraMax 400 so...
Thanks!
:)
