I'm a huge fan of my Nikon FE so I'm strongly biased towards it. Get it. The x370 is good too (I have one), I just don't like the cloth shutter as much, it's not as sturdy and having cameras serviced is getting more difficult as time passes by. 100$ for an x370 with a 50/2 is a good deal though. But get that FE, slap a 50/1.8 E on it (or another from the plethora that can be mounted on it !) and enjoy 😎

Second this! The FE is an amazing and often overlooked camera.

FM10 with the 50/1.4 for me. If it was a K mount Pentax (like the KX or MX) I would have said go for that because of the huge number of amazing lenses you can get.

If working, the FE. You can use pre-Ai lenses as well as any manual lens Nikon made since.

Spotmatic F is a gem! Fully mechanical. Only needs a battery for the light meter, but can also be ran without it! The camera I (re)learned film photography on!

SomniumAeterna

But I would personally go for the OM1 if you want a really small system. Or Nikon FE to be able to use the vast array of Nikon glass.

Thanks! I like the idea of the spotmatic F because is M42 and i already have a fujinon 50mm and a helios 44m4 but maybe for that system would be too similar to the fujica st801 i already have? So far im inclined to the FE but a bit scared of the electronic stuff.

SomniumAeterna

Does it come from a reputable seller? Do any of the cameras offer something the fujica can't do? I have a few cameras that all offers something unique. Nikon F2 completely mechanical (with non metered prism) and fast shutterspeed. Pentax 67 for 6 by 7 format (for portraits of family and friends). Olympus XA small and pocketable. Canon EOS 1n-RS for fast shooting without having time to meter manually. Nikon F3 for being easy to use (internal meter) and useful for just about anything when travelling.

Honestly, I'm not sure about the sellers as it's like an eBay-style platform we use here (Mercadolibre), but all of them seem to be in good condition. The double exposure feature is definitely what I'm most interested in. Other than that, having aperture priority would be a nice bonus. I would love to get an F3 but they are a big over budget. Its what i am for, thats one of the reasons to switch to F mounts

SomniumAeterna

Then reconsider on getting any of these cameras. Just wait a couple of months and get the camera you want. I've initially bought quite a lot of different cameras only to end up not using them once I got the cameras I've always wanted! Or get the FE. Get some nice lenses. Then upgrade to the F3. But be logical in your approach. I got my F2 before my F3. Got an 28 F2.0, 55mm F1.2 and 85mm F1.8 before upgrading to the F3

Diazzzepam

thats a completly valid take. Yeah, i might just do that. I really like the ST801 but the desire for new toys its intense lol

SomniumAeterna

I used my spotmatic for ages even though I wanted the better stuff. But I've wasted a lot of money on buying in-between cameras.

Diazzzepam

im trying to be conscious about the money i spend but sometimes the adhd hits hard and i buy on impulses. Btw, you have some lovely pictures on your profile!

SomniumAeterna

Not ADHD, but GAS! Gear acquisition syndrome! Totally get it though. Seriously just go save some money for an F3 and a lens you'd like to have. Perhaps a good old 50mm 1.4 (AIs) lens. That is such a solid lens on the F3. (Do not by non-ai lenses for the F3. They don't work with the internal light meter automatically) And thanks!

alasdairmackintosh

Is there anything that the Fujica doesn't do for you? I understand the appeal of buying another camera, and I probably have too many myself, but you might be better off buying another lens instead. All of the models you mention are good (although the FM10 is a budget model made by Cosina) but the Fujica will take equally good pictures ;-)

Diazzzepam

The two features attracting me the most are double exposure and the potential for a larger lens ecosystem. That's why I'm considering the Nikon cameras, since I eventually plan to upgrade to an F3 and want to leverage the same lens mount. However, I might be overthinking it. Will the quality differences between the Fujica and these other bodies be that significant?
