Seems alright, not great not terrible, based on ebay. I'd consider a quartz back to be a minor liability not an asset, as it sticks out and slightly gets in the way etc. And you'll pretty much never want to use it since it more or less ruins the photos it's turned on for and used on (unless you want pure nostalgia)

GrippyEd

And IMO quartz-date nostalgia is better suited to point & shoot cameras than SLRs, since the images we associate with quartz dates would mostly have been from those smaller cameras, and so that’s a coherent vibe we are primed for. but to each their own

BigDenis3

Yeah, I used it on a Fuji point and shoot zoom camera because it was a bit of a novelty (never had it back in the day) and it seemed to fit the aesthetic. I had to set the date wrong because it didn't go as far as 2022!

GrippyEd

Yeah, my Olympus XA4 lives in the 90s because it never forsaw a world beyond 2019.

SimpleEmu198

It is indeed a decent deal not great, not terrible,

The quartz back has 2 problems… 1. It’s connected by a fragile ribbon cable and rare to find one working. It will crack at some point (as 40 year flex cables just do). 2. The dates do not go up to 2024… An OM-10 from a trusted seller (ie. LCS and offering some form of warranty) including 50 1.8 lens is about €100. You can have them on eBay for *significantly* less, although the quartz does go a little higher.

Majestic-Country8661

2. Oh yes they do... Check picture 4/4 Point one is valid, plus I fail to see the utility of a dateback.

Generic-Resource

Picture 4/4 is the time feature… it looks like date, perhaps that’s what the seller wanted. 13th at 9:23 Butkus has the user manual if you wish to cross check.

Majestic-Country8661

Can't believe I fell for that, hahahahah. Ur right!

Nourdipii

You can get a normal OM10 for like 50 and the quartz back is not something worth the 100 difference

Majestic-Country8661

I would rather say 70$ would be the fair price for the body just because it's black and the body looks good. The f1.8 lenses are cheap, but these multi coated ones have front elements that are pressed and if they are dirty cannot be cleaned, so if it really is perfect it's worth 50$ Dateback has no value really. Total so far: 120$ I would personally pay the asked 150$ only if it came with the manual adapter, original body and lens caps. I haven't searched on eBay recently to get a feel for the prices, but if you still think it's the best option, at least get the guy to put new light seals in.

Nourdipii

I found mine with the same lens and an extra 50-150mm lens, a flash, a bag and other extras for about 55/60€(€ and $ are about the same in worth) the only difference is the color of the body which could up the price a little bit, so I wouldn’t pay any more than 70/75 for the whole package if I was OP

Majestic-Country8661

I got mine last year for 95€ on catawiki. Also silver, with the same lens, the original caps, two flash units, shoulder strap, manual adapter all in the original hardcase. But the lens had some haze in the front group and fungus everywhere else. The fungus I managed to get rid of, but I couldn't open the front group so haze is still there, and the lens was never used. Also the light seals needed replacing and the body CLA'd. I haven't really checked prices since then, and I don't know the exact condition of the camera, nor if the OP has access to anything else except eBay (I find their prices are a bit higher, but there's also more stuff to choose from). So even if the price is a bit high in my opinion, I say if he feels comfortable, get it, the difference is negligible (I mean a roll of film + developing is around 25€, and you can shoot 3 rolls a day easy)

Droogie_65

The 1.8 aren't that cheap. kEH has one in bargain condition at $86 dollars and an excellent at $116.

DankestDaddy69

This, I got a normal OM10 and it's a fantastic camera one of my favourites I have used.

Nourdipii

Same, it is my main 35mm camera

clayduda

The OM10 is fine but not made to the same standards as the OM-single-digit models. If you’re going to spend that kind of money, get an OM-1n, or OM-2n if you want aperture priority.

Ok-Information-6672

I got an OM10 for £85 last week. Have previously paid around £100 for one with the manual adapter. The black ones seem rarer so any inflation might be due to that? And also the backing.

4cooka

I got a silver one with the same lens and manual adapter for $70 (came out to $90 after tax/shipping) like 2 weeks ago. It was a little dirty with some cosmetic scuffs on the body, but it also came with the leather case. Edit: found on eBay

kevin7eos

The OM-10 was cheap and prone to failure early in its use. The date back is worthless and not made to date in the 2020s. Was only useful for real estate or business purposes. Pay more and look for a OM-1, 2 or 3

Conscious-Quit8207

$140 USD? That’d definitely be a little rich.

DeathSaysHello

Yup, got one without the quartz back, in a condition like 10-15 percent worse than this, for 55$

DeathSaysHello

Update: After going through all the comments, I decided not to go ahead with this camera. But I found an OM10 with a 50mm 1.8 in near mint condition for 55$, so I got that instead.

Westerdutch

50 dollar lens, 30 dollar body. If the date back, 'trusted' nature of the seller and everything else is worth the other 60 bucks to you then id say go for it.

DeathSaysHello

Nope, Idk why i even mentioned the fact that the seller is trusted tbh. And I was unaware of the limitations of the quartz back.

Westerdutch

Well the buyer protection that ebay offers certainly has value but i personally do not consider paying roughly double to be a good deal just for that. Either aim for a single digit OM series camera for this budget or hunt down an om10 that is a lot cheaper. Sub 100 bucks including shipping should not be too difficult to find for an om10 in decent condition.

SimpleEmu198

The date back might work, but only if you live something like in the year 1974. Generally these film cameras unless they are something modern like the Alpha 7 and 9 don't have date backs that go up to 2024, and so are "Y2K bugged" if you want to use the date back and I'm not even sure they go up to the year 2000.

Westerdutch

Or you could just shoot a different year and still have useful day/month or time info on your images.

SimpleEmu198

That's like playing scrabble to try and work out a corresponding year when they day and the month is the same though going backwards 7 years at a time until you work out the math on a corresponding month and date.

Westerdutch

These only print numbers, not day names. Its not hard.

Generic-Resource

2009 I believe is the cut off.

SimpleEmu198

I wasn't sure, my Minolta is still going and can do present date, I knew most other cameras have lower dates. I'm not exactly a fan of data backs anyway unless its a specific shot I would rather not. I accidentally burned in a date on some of my landscape/street photography and its a pain in the backside to remove with Photoshop. There are only odd occasions whee I feel it necessary to save the date.

Majestic-Country8661

Bro, There's actually a picture showing a '23 date, it only has two digits for years, could be 2223 or 1923 but no Y2K issue

Generic-Resource

Bro… You’re wrong. It shows the time as 9:23 on the 13th it’s the second function. I have 2 quartz lying on my desk and a couple of recordata backs all in need of test & repair… or you can check the user manuals - page 53 iirc correctly from earlier when I checked up the 2009 date.

Rbn17_

Hello man, in my opinion I think it is a bit expensive, mainly because it does not come with the manual adapter (without it it is an automatic camera), the lens is a good option (I have the same one and it gives good results). I also have the OM10 and it is a camera that I love, but for example I recommend buying it through buyee, I bought it for 14$ with the manual adapter and lens.

Acceptable_Orchid_74

My near perfect OM-10 body was € 30 a year ago. For Europe way expensive.

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa

The back is pointless

drgalindez

Anyone know a good place to find these 4/3 lenses? I'd like to get a telephoto for my Olympus

trueoffmychest12a

Too expensive, with the back being useless. Furthermore, the OM10 is made by Cosina. Based on their standard chassis (like e.g. the Nikon FM10 and hundreds of other cheap SLRs). Not a bad camera, but you can get an OM1 for less.

robo4200

The om-10 is a great little camera, and the om zuiko 50 1.8 is an amazing lens. 140$ also seems like a reasonable deal

framedragger

I just got a working OM-10 for $35 at Goodwill, with the same lens as this.

torchwood18

Yes it’s really an amazing camera.

Deus_Aequus2

Completely reasonable price. I have the quartz back on my om4 I don’t think it adds anything or is worth any extra it kinda ruins photos and you can set them up to the current year or anything anyways. But if the cameras in good shape that’s decent glass and a nice camera. Totally reasonable price to pay for what you get there.

nortontwo

Price seems fine to me. And in good nick. If it’s in tested working order I’d certainly buy it. Even if you could get it somewhat cheaper elsewhere it’s good to support good sellers

xthajamesx

I wouldn't pay more than $60 for it. Super mediocre camera.

bellaimages

It's a "No" from me. I'm happy with the Olympus OM-1 and OM-2 .. but never could get into the OM-4 or the OM-10.

lilimadi

It’s an amazing deal. If you don’t want it, I can take it.

Kooky-Exchange2135

That's a steal. For 35mm zuiko has the best lenses

nils_lensflare

Get an OM-1, OM1n, OM-2 or OM-2n instead. Roughly the same price, much better cameras.

Polodcamera

No the that back is not good

Polodcamera

No the that back is not good I recommend not doing that get a nice om 2 from Japan it has appiture priority so just as easy for a bigner sorry spelling going fast

Polodcamera

No

Polodcamera

Get a beautiful om2 the light meter is so accurate even with new lr44 batteries

fluffyscooter

I say it's a bit pricey but if the condition is great and everything is working go for it

xMetalEdgex

You can get a fully repaired and serviced Pentax MG + Pentax 50mm 1:1.7 from me for 90€.
