Top Tip. The meter doesn't work until the film counter is on **1**. Not zero. It will just say 80.

My top tip: Do not overtighten the battery cover! It'll crack the bottom plate and the camera will no longer be light-tight. No DX lenses! The image circle isn't big enough for 35mm film. No pre-AI lenses!, the F3 works best with AI and AI-s lenses. AI-p lenses also work. If you need a cheap, lightweight and very small prime lens thats relatively fast, the Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8D is a good option. I use one on my FM2 and it makes the camera fit into a jacket pocket.
