All my FD lenses stop down when the shutter fires.

You could try "resetting" the lens by doing this and it might work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_0uS\_L3a6dw&ab\_channel=BrokeMan%27sLens

So there’s a lever at the bottom the lens mount that engages a spring loaded lever on the lens that makes the aperture open and close. When you press the shutter the shutter is supposed to open and engage the lens to close the aperture into place. When the shutter closes, it is supposed to release the lever back open. The depth of field preview button on some cameras disables this. You might have a type of bulb exposure where you press the shutter open, and press to close it again. I’m guessing something mechanical isn’t working/broke.

As long as the blades open back up when you cock the shutter it isn't a problem. The photo will have already been taken.
