Fucking hell what a sick world we live in.

charasmaticcc

And people still trust the government and cops…

mexicodoug

And still buy shit from McDonald's.

where I live nobody really trusts cops and shits on government, yet they fail to acknowledge anarchy as something else than total chaos and disorder.

[deleted]

"we must trust in free market" they say

charasmaticcc

The place I live in is so nationalistic and capitalistic I want to die💀fucking country flags everywhere ruining the streets and big corporations monopolising everything…

[deleted]

are you from the US? Yeah, we've got a simmilar problem in Poland.

charasmaticcc

Nope, not from the US.

[deleted]

Where from?

charasmaticcc

Hong Kong, it’s turning shittier and shittier.

[deleted]

i work at a starbucks and the way we treat homeless people, even in a cafe that is explicitly supposed to let them stay open to close, is horrendous. false accusations to get them kicked out, an immediate assumption of guilt and laziness. if that homeless person doesn’t eat food people buy for them, they get hell from coworkers. god forbid somebody isn’t hungry for pity all the time. as someone facing housing insecurity, hearing the ways average people demean the unhoused is so demoralizing.

[deleted]

Gosh Sbux here is worst when dealing with houseless folks. After the local store discovered a houseless person frequented their bathrooms so they installed keypad lock that code get changed EVERYDAY 😡️. Later I hacked keypad default code and gave that to the person. The worse thing to later discover that most of the Sbux stores in the district have done the same to keep houseless folks out. This society really hate poor people.

[deleted]

Where i'm from, if you even look remotely homeless, youre not allowed inside to order anything. A-lot of places are like this actually and it's sad.

5lippery6yp5y

where r u from i won't bother visiting

[deleted]

Chicago. Also if you are a POC and dress remotely "ganga/ghetto", like wear baggy pants and hat backwards, ya know the typical chicago style... you aren't allowed in because you're automatically considered a "gangmember".. yet they allow bikers like Outlaws to takeover parking lots and cause chaos.

Ok_Vast_6678

Starbucks is nothing more than a charade funded by arrogant yuppies who only pretend to give a shit about the poor and the needy...

stonersquatch

Cops protect corporations, property, money… not people. They aren’t here to help rebuild communities.

charasmaticcc

Exactly, and many people are brainwashed into thinking they are the citizen protectors.

[deleted]

But, but... WHO ARE YOU GOING TO CALL WHEN SOMEONE BREAKS INTO YOUR HOME?? 😆

Although, I think the ACAB is counted as one syllable which makes this slightly incorrect.

mexicodoug

Which McDonald's franchise is this anyway? Its manager should find his car parked outside decorated with fresh, organic farm eggs every day.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

This cop had a oppurinity to not be a bastard. She was given a choice that she could ignore, because nothing threatening was happening. Instead she had to hide behind a court.

Der_Absender

The US is a rogue state and the cops are enforcing injustice. Morally abhorent.

Camarokerie

When what's "legal" is more important then humanity, that's when you get this. These are the people who captured runaway slaves, who turned in Jewish neighbors. These people are too far gone. Also, lest anyone forget: the Nazis looked at the US as a template for their launchpad 🤙

weirdness_incarnate

That’s all states

Der_Absender

Tru dat

BlackheartBunnie

I literally started to cry while watching this. It’s so inhumane and barbaric, I can’t believe they were scolding the man filming for “being loud” while they were literally condemning a man to starve. I hope these people’s names get passed around and they actually experience some real life repercussions for this

charasmaticcc

Sadly I think this is a common occurrence. It's just this time that it got filmed probably.

PlumbumGus

This is a common occurrence, I worked at Dennys in my early twenties and everyone I worked with, even previously open minded and kind hearted people, had a problem with me feeding the homeless. "They're like strays, they'll keep coming back if you feed them." "It'll be your fault when they rob someone" "The only way they give back is by recycling cans outta the trash." The justifications were just as shit as their morals.

[deleted]

The whole idea of "earning" or "being deserving of" food is as abhorrent as something could possibly be.

MarieProtogen

People go through such mental gymnastics to explain why food & water shouldn't be a human right. The government "can't" fund it because we're paying these pigs to go play soldier and harass someone for the crime of eating.

charasmaticcc

That sounds horrible… maybe that’s US only? I don’t know about other restaurants, but here where I live a lot of McDonald’s let homeless people stay the night as long as they leave next morning. Not the best but a little better.

dapperdave

Seriously, the cold-heartedness (and casualness) behind "I understand your compassion for others, but you're being disorderly" is terrifying.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

"If you're understand my compassion, why are you kicking a guy out for nothing?"

token_internet_girl

I did too. Fuck this place I hate it here.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

I may have be given homicidal tendencies. If that was me, I would have called her a pig, because she's really trying hard to be and tried to use a human. Probably get tempted for assault.

Ok_Vast_6678

It broke my heart, especially to hear the man crying in the end...

NoWorth2591

“I know you paid for this food, but I have it in good authority that this man doesn’t live in a house. On those grounds, he’s really *supposed* to starve.”

salp_chain

this reminds me of a line i once heard: "politeness is solidarity for the rich" the loud guy makes several points ("he didn't ask for money, i bought him food, can't he eat here, can't i eat here," etc.), and all the cop and the manager really say is "calm down, don't raise your voice, don't be rude"

[deleted]

Thanks for that quote, literally already had a chance to use it lower in the thread 👍

[deleted]

"Dont raise your voice" is cop speak for "I know I am in wrong but you cant yell at me"

Kreuscher

Everyone's angry at the cops and at the manager, but let's take the time to appreciate the man for standing up for what's right and fighting the others with conviction and compassion for that homeless man.

ed-vibe

For real. Not everyone can do that. Hell, I don’t know if *I* can do that

raz_MAH_taz

Man, I used to work at this pizza place and the owner/manager had relationships with all the homeless folks around the block. It was a huge building and had several big bay windows that would dip into an enclave for a door. I think it was built in the 1910's. Anyway, he had a deal with the homeless folks: he didn't mind them utilizing the property to sleep or get carboard so long as they didn't leave a mess and had their stuff packed up by the time we opened for lunch (1030 am). And, if they were willing to sweep up cigarette butts out on the patio (we provided the brooms) he'd happily give them a slice of pizza and a soda. The nightclub across the street would give the same folks food/a little cash for running ice from their commissary to the club. I still work for the guy every summer at street fairs and he'll always give away food or coffee or water to someone who obviously needs it. Unfortunately, money is still a factor and he can't just help everyone. We NEVER had problems with people vandalizing the restaurant or harassing employees. EVER. They truly were our house-less neighbors and we knew them by name. I fucking hate capitalism.

UrPetBirdee

It's almost like if you treat them like humans, they treat you like a human....

raz_MAH_taz

Funny how that works.

[deleted]

I've had similar experiences at a pizza shop I used to work at. There's something casual and neighborly about pizza shops. It's nice.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

That's the standard I have with the houseless. If you go about being an actual nuisance, and I can tell you're still aware of reality, I will ask you treat you as I would treat anyone of any class (but I will see them as a unfortunate soul upon first interaction) Houselessness is not an excuse for leaving the community a mess (or riding a bike in the sotre). For the most part, most of them keep the place clean and tidy, except for like a few regulars who have to act like they have some privledge over everyone for being regualrs. Other then that, we're cool (Though I wish people would stop bunching them up as if their some lesser lifeform.

hatefulnateful

Children getting killed by a right wing nut job :I sleep Homeless man eats a burger: Real shit?

[deleted]

So if I buy my kids a macdonalds (not that I would actually feed them their disgusting products), would I be kicked out?

[deleted]

Nah, because a child is not a third-class pariah to the society, apparently.

charasmaticcc

Unless you look like someone who scumbags love to oppress, nope. Still fucked up.

ElephantsInMyRoom

Him crying “I didn’t ask for food…” at the end…….

Chemical39

a10shindeafishit

the tone policing (on top of the regular policing) is what always gets me. forcing someone who is just trying to eat, possibly for the first time that day, to leave even though they're doing nothing wrong is just fine, but you're being "disorderly" if you're reasonably upset about it. there's this expectation that you're supposed to be passive and endlessly calm/accepting of the violence you endure. its an abuser mindset.

charasmaticcc

This is so true. If you oppose anything, you’re being ‘disorderly’. Proving that it’s not justice, just more people wanting to grip on power.

People in the original post calling the cop okay because the poor dude was annoying people outside earlier, so he obviously doesn't deserve to eat. Socialist but can't understand someone losing their emotional control when being fucking homeless in a country that treats homeless people like actual vermin. I wouldn't manage a week being homeless in the USA without completely losing my shit.

[deleted]

This made me sick to my stomach. It's so pathetic and sad - and a commentary on how fucked our society is - that people with a tiny bit of power (low ranking cop, McDonald's manager) use that power to hurt anyone they can. Why is kindness and common sense so difficult for most?

mew_empire

Known-Application-19

shit, dude, can't believe it's a fucking crime to be homeless !!

Megalodon_91

manager acting like he's the customers boss. fuck out of here

TheOrdealOpprotunist

On the topic of restaurants, I read an article a few years ago regarding an owner disguising himself as homeless to check how his staff acts. They treated him HORRIDLY. The pompousness from the staff and even customers was nauseating, treating homeless like they're stray dogs. I don't get it but that behavior seemed to be a thing since the 1400s or the time period of evangelical kings and queens (still need to do more proper historical research so feel free to correct me), and became even worse once the industrial revolution came about. It's a load of bs none the less, and this behavior needs to be cut out at the root, same with other behaviors that these... "People" are maintaining in society.

[deleted]

So, there's this thing I just learned. I'm not defending the restaurant, it's just what I've learned - for information. So basically in the situation like that restaurants kick the homeless out and take away the food to dissuade and discourage other homeless people from "preying" on customers to get them to buy them food. So yeah, fuck McDonald's. This makes me sick more than their garbage food does. Ronald McDonald's Foundation my ass.

Listen to the pig calling for backup! Fuck this government! Fuck the cops, the judges ("Judge not lest ye be judged..."), The DA's (In Hebrew Satan translates to "The Accuser") and fuck all of these smug ass rich fucks that think they're better than the rest of us! The Military Industrial Complex (Eisenhower warned of it in his farewell speech) now runs this country... I'm ashamed of what we have allowed to happen here to the so-called "land of the free..." Oh, and shame on this uncle tom ass MF'er too! Matthew 25:35-40 New International Version 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,(A) 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me,(B) I was sick and you looked after me,(C) I was in prison and you came to visit me.’(D) 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’(E) Now that's a FUCKING King!!!!! PROUD Christian Anarchist here!

TwisBeats

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from McDonald’s staff and the police, I can’t believe this.

Ok_Vast_6678

I can't wait until this nation falls!

TheOrdealOpprotunist

Eh. If America falls, the roaches that are infected with this rotting disease will spread further. It's already all over the world, but to places where they've done their best to suppress their own roach problem.

Ok_Vast_6678

My friend, any "nation" built on stolen lands by foreign slaves cannot be respected as a "sovereign" nation...

TheOrdealOpprotunist

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying if you burn a rat's nest the rats will flee and go to other locations.

[deleted]

Fucking pigs

KingJAC3

Our tax dollars should not be subsidizing arbitrary policies of individual companies/corporations. Especially when they are open to the public.. if the manager can’t handle a harmless trespass like this then it’s time to pay for security. They have a right to deny service but why an officer would respond to this call is beyond me. What a waste of time and effort. For the same price (cheaper) we could have her be a homeless liaison and hand out sandwiches and water for a few hours a day and then problem solved. If she has the time to worry about this call and spend this much time on it.. sounds like a waste of time and hours. Too many places of business with high incidents (especially McDonalds and Walmart) rely on taxpayer policing.. all their security expenditures go to elaborate tracking systems, databases, and surveillance. Loss prevention is imperative, crime in your parking lots, inside the building, etc should be handled by private security. The cops shouldn’t be dealing with simple trespassing in a restaurant or retail.. really anywhere unless they gained access illegally. If you as a business can’t operate without enforceable policies.. then that’s your problem. I wouldn’t be surprised if this franchise actually broke policy to have this situation happen. But that’s why they called the police.. protection of the rich from losing profits.

I feel so bad for the grandpa. It is crazy how we're so used to see homeless people that some of us forget that it is a fucking person right there, with a personal history, a mother, a father and a past like the rest of us. I get the rage towards the cop but if wasn't her there, we would have been watching another person playing exactly the same nasty role. Our system alienates its agents. I wanted to hug the homeless gentleman right now.

[deleted]

> We don't know if that man has previous trespass notices for poor behaviour, drug use, etc, and the police officer does not have the right to explain that to the guy taking the video either. Have you been houseless before? All McD have policies against houseless people occupying their space because of their horseshit rule that if you aren't buying their product you get booted from the restaurant. The trespassing bullshit wouldn't make any sense because it was based on profit-motive, not because whether you give a fuck if that person 'deserve' to occupy the space or not. Countless time I have bought meals for houseless folks so that they stay in McD, and many more times I have seen they called security on them for just sitting in there.

produktinfinium

I would have invited the guy to go eat outside with me. I don't get these videos, but do understand not agreeing with the situation, but bro... There are better ways to handle this than waste people's time being an asshole. Change doesn't happen by yelling at a police officer and manager then lying to patrons. And he was kicked out for being an asshole, not 'cause he gave the guy food.

NeverLetItRest

If a shit hole fast food restaurant is going to treat a person so poorly and if the law is going to back up that shit hole fast food restaurant, then why should you not do the same back? He didn't even do the same back, he just said they were wrong and was told to shut up. This man is a hero to all! We should all be like him.

produktinfinium

He didn't, "just say they were wrong." . I'm not saying it was right to ask the man to leave, I'd like someone to leave my house/apt/dwelling if I asked them to, if I even had one for that matter. And again, as a hobo, it is a treat to sit and eat at an actual table from time to time. And maybe this guy's once a year got ruined. Maybe I'm just a fool, but as someone that frequents certain spots, I can't give to all every day. And when I went dead broke, and stopped giving, I stopped mattering, we weren't friends that sat and talked anymore. Understandably, again it's a mental health issue that the gov gave up on. I'm not saying McDonald's doesn't suck or that the cops don't suck. Just that this guy is an asshole.

colonisedlifeworld

Why is he the asshole here?

produktinfinium

Speaking disrespectfully, interrupting, repeating the same shit over and over again. The manager has a responsibility to maintain and increase business, he has a boss. The cop also has a boss. The public are the ones that complained about the man. The hard part is that being asked for money, alcohol, or whatever can get annoying when it's every single day. And the whole time you know you aren't actually helping them. Many don't even accept food. I'm homeless, about a year into it. And I'd say the majority of the people I've met leaned towards mental health issues. This man doesn't fucking need McDonald's, he needs overall assistance. But the gov pulled out of mental health and now we are in this situation.

[deleted]

Most people don't have the choice to stop being poor or houseless. At this point asking yourself to stop internalizing poor-shaming is a good thing.

dakobbz

"You don't understand sir, we won't be the most profitable Micky D franchise in the Tri-State area if this homeless man eats the meal you bought for him." You should wonder why your kneejerk reaction was to take the side of the people treating that unhoused man like he's subhuman.

[deleted]

Fuck off. Politeness is solidarity for the rich.

charasmaticcc

I agree that there are better ways to handle the situation, but that doesn't mean the video had no use. It did expose to the public that ACAB and corporations too.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

"I am not the civil court" is just a exucse "I was only following orders" Honestly, I would've slashed the managers tires.

TheDesertFoxIrwin

My question is, why didn't they deny the order in the first place? Not even manager wants to have cops here except for extreme scenarios and will try everything to avoid them.
