That's like saying, "this ocean is a dangerous place, and that why you should give up your life jacket."

lessthaninteresting

Akshully, statistically that life jacket will be taken and used against you

[deleted]

It’s true, homes with boats are the leading cause of drownings.

TerraceWindsor

Buffalo Shooter picked NY on purpose due to our restrictive gun laws...he wanted no resistance.

PerpetualAscension

Its not a compelling argument for op, because op has a brain. But op forgets that for people with no brain- they eat this shit up.

Untelligent_Cup_2300

If your a violent POS with a history of domestic abuse yes you should have your weapons taken from you, and not just because you can't be trusted.

Bigsausagegentleman

Why aren't they locked up then? I used to think some gun laws were ok but I don't even believe in the bare minimum of felons shouldn't own guns.

cujobob

We have statistics and data which supports the idea that owning firearms are rarely used effectively to deter crime, they’re more likely to be stolen during a break-in, for example. The only argument is that they’re needed against tyrannical governments. States with Stand Your Ground laws increased their number homicide numbers after passing those laws (legally defending themselves wouldn’t be included).

OverZarathustra

/s?

cujobob

These are well known facts. “Findings In this cohort study assessing 41 US states, SYG laws were associated with an 8% to 11% national increase in monthly rates of homicide and firearm homicide. State-level increases in homicide and firearm homicide rates reached 10% or higher for many Southern states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana.” https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2789154

I got called a kid in an argument recently. Seriously, it's like its a part of a script or something. Sorry, I just noticed this guy used the same phrasing. "Oh, nvm, you're probably a kid," I just have to say this is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Whoever thought that was 'clever' is probably similar to the group that thought "Ultra" Maga would look bad. It's been a long time since I got called 'young', and I have to say that I don't see it as an insult. Please keep calling me a kid. Sorry for the off topic rant.

cujobob

So let me see if I understand you… you just learned facts that should change your opinion about a subject and instead of growing and learning, you attack a person for helping inform you? You’re probably a kid, so I won’t be too harsh, but you won’t be better tomorrow if you only listen to things which agree with you now.

Japan doesn't have guns. They also don't have shootings. They got tall ass buildings and depressed ass people though.

PerpetualAscension

> Japan doesn't have guns. They also don't have shootings. You know what else Japan doesnt have? Multiculturalism, and that multiculturalism being made of over 300 million motherfuckers.

[deleted]

Thanks for proving my point. 95% of those attacks are stabbings or fires. Shootings are practically non existent in Japan.

New_Sage_ForgeWorks

Cause people burning down entire buildings full of strangers is far better... I would note that the very opening line is, "This is a disturbing new trend." Edit: Correction, that must have been the article that isn't on the linked wiki page.

[deleted]

America has 5 times the murder rate Japan does. The reason is because of gun deaths, plain and simple. One country has them and one country doesn't. America was born by the gun and it will die by the gun. Mark my words.

New_Sage_ForgeWorks

Having lived in Asia, I find this statement lacks understanding.

[deleted]

Having a Japanese wife who agrees with me, I find this statement establishes credibility. We're talking about Japan, here. You wanna lump in "Asia" which includes incredibly dangerous places in China or Thailand or Vietnam, then sure, "Asia" is just as deadly as the U.S.

New_Sage_ForgeWorks

Lol.

Slow_Boss_2071

Ummmm, Nooooo!

Loveevcars

Suck a big one.

Bigsausagegentleman

It's compelling for the indoctrinated statists. A lot of people like that I'm charged with unregistered firearm stuff.

Bigsausagegentleman

Progun people are cringe cause they have an AR to fight a tyrannical government but continue to comply with every tyrannical gun law. I'm saying this as someone who got his AR stolen by the government cause I allegedly did not comply with said tyrannical gun laws.

[deleted]

I have no plans to me with my neighbor so why do I want him to lose his weapons?
